The Buffalo Sabres (http://espn.go.com/nhl/news/2003/0113/1491754.html) became the second team in the NHL this year to file for Chapter 11 :(

Last week, the Ottawa Senators were the first because they couldnt pay their players.

I'm telling you hockey sucks. Well hopefully the Sharks won't file for Bankruptancy. I like any Bay Area team, regardless of sport

And the sad thing is that all the canadian teams except for Montreal and Toronto are also on the edge of bankrupty.

Yay, my 500th post.

I think the league will have to downsize if they can't get a good CBA soon that includes better revenue sharing and a salary cap. Players are making too much. I would hate to see any more teams leave Canada, but that's what will happen if there isn't help, and quickly for small market and Canadian teams.

Ummmm, archer you're a really cool guy, please don't speak about things unless you actually know what they're about

Vancouver just resigned two key players for a combined like 8 million a season. Doesn't sound like 11 to me.

Salary caps are unfair to the teams with a high income. In an open market approach the price (i.e. income of the players) will be right, but some teams would have to realise that they can't afford tier 1 players. This goes for every team sport.

On-topic:
Salary caps are going to be impose following the next strike (or lock-out) coming in 2004. And Canadians team, even Toronto and Montréal, are in great need of more revenues. Calgary and Edmonton will now receive income taxes from visiting players in Alberta (that's gonna help). Canadian money sucks so that's not helping. There's tons of team with problems: Ottawa, Buffalo, Nashville, Tampa Bay, Florida, Anaheim, Edmonton, Calgary...

 Ok, you sign Jovanovski, good move, but Linden? For tree years? Six millions? Brian Burke had a little too much too drink I think.

So it is better to let 25 team in the dark than to impose a salary cap that would save the league? They did it in the NFL and the league is more competitive than ever.

No, I am afraid that you too, probably in league with archer, are a really cool guy.

I posted everything I wanted to say in the original religion thread, really cool guy. Please go buy a life.

OK, now's where things get ugly. The rest of the post is rated 18A. Reader discretion is advised.

Who the ****ing **** **** **** do you think you are? You have no ****ing clue what you're talking about when you talk **** about Trevor Linder or BB. Please watch hockey, and maybe your ****ass of a brain might have a tiny amount of credible knowledge in it. Trev brings a ****load to the team, that you can never understand, apparently.

Go away for a few, maybe three, days, Oh wait, I see that you have. Lefty
