This is a bit of a personal RP story taking place in the world of Fanatika... Not sure exactly where I'm going with it, but I thought it'd be fun to actually do some role playing in this RPG. Who knows, maybe it'll meet up with the RoF thread some time?
=====
Veera watched impassively as her small home in Bavaria was ransacked by moving men. One man struggled under the weight of a deceptively heavy chair, while another was busy wrestling a clothing trunk into mule-drawn wagon. The head mover was at Veera’s side trying to get her attention. “Miss? We’re almost done here. Sure there’s nothin’ else you need before we pack the rest?”
“Nope. Everything I need I have in my packs here or I’ll be buying at the stores. You remember my instructions?” The current Chief Justice raised an inquiring eyebrow at the unkempt mover.
“Yes’m. Keep it all in storage until we get a message from your realtor. Then move it to wherever your new home is.”
“That’s it. Now, how much is all this costing me?” Veera wasn’t really worried about money right now. She wouldn’t be needing that much on her travels.
“You owe us four gold for the loading and shipping, a gold piece per month of storage, and ten gold pieces for each hundred miles we have to carry these things to your new home. You just owe us five gold right now.” She tossed the man a ten gold piece, minted with the face of Bismarck, the All-God of Fanatika.
“You can keep the change. I won’t need it where I’m heading. Not for a long time anyway...” The man’s curiosity was aroused, but he shrugged it off and pocketed the coin.
“Good luck ma’am! We’ll take good care of your belongings for ya.”
Not for the first time, Veera doubted the wisdom of her actions. Selling your home and all your possessions wasn’t a typically wise act, but she felt she needed to make a statement. The materialism of city life was chafing her, and besides, that tiny apartment in Bavaria was hardly a home suitable for the Chief Justice. Her cross-country travel across Fanatika would give her something to do and accomplish while her new house in the mountains was being built. ‘And I’ve always wanted to visit Octavinium and see the Great Library. And the temples of Eklektochtitlan. And the Forbidden Palace in Kyoto. And maybe the gem mountains of Dapperdan...’
She still had a lot of work to do before she left the town. The state-of-the-art pistols that she had commissioned from the Army Surplus were still being assembled, and she hadn’t yet picked up her equine and her supplies. The auctioneer was still busy selling her lands in distant Nara, and the bidding war appeared like it would be continuing for a while. The deal on building the new home wouldn’t be ironed out for a while. And that poorly thought out loan she had requested still needed to be paid off. Not to mention the Indian hordes decimating the Northern Province could be a pain in the proverbial butt if she was unlucky.
Way too much to do for me to be wasting time on idle thoughts. Veera said to herself. Need to pick up my weapons first, and then off to the tailor... But this'll all be behind me soon! She honestly couldn't wait.
