This thread is to set up a PBEM game following Honourable rules as edicted in Realms Beyond.

We hope we can organize some "power sessions" in the build up phase of the game (even though we are a bit spread over the time zones here...).

We will include some AIs and will use Melifluous trick to set them up at Emperor level.

Let's discuss on the conditions of the game in this thread and then use it to keep track of each other.

My ideas :
- Pangea (with continent I feel one of us could get left out for a long time, negating a bit the fun of diplo with other humans.)
- Standard size.
- 60% water.
- All victory conditions enabled.
- 3 AIs at Emperor level. (random)
- no acc. production.
- Random conditions for the rest

I would like to have only PTW civs if possible to keep it new.

Any other ideas ?

I Would like a random civ and I am EST GMT -5.

Everything sounds ok to me, although I always like not knowing the map settings at all (so random pangea/cont/arch) and a bit more water would be nice IMHO.

I tried e-mailing twice, and both times this came up. I don't know if this will happen for DogBoy, though. I will try a test e-mail.

For the workaround method, all you do is go to multiplayer games, host a local game, make type PBEM, and set difficulty and load it, right? I read the instructions, but I just want to make sure.

OK, sent to Dogboy, used the difficulty method fine and e-mail for Dogboy is fine.

May I suggest creating a single name for the game, like "Ahonorablepbem" which "A" is in for alphabetical order. This way we wont have hundreds of saves foating around.

Well the problem with a power session is that EVERYONE of us needs to be present and play, so if just one of us fails, we can't ahve the session....tricky but just managing a few sessions will be already good to get us going.

Guys, sorry but I will be out of town Friday thru Sunday. The power sessions are good for me on the weekends, but not during the week. I came home early from work today but nothing materialized. It will be hard for me to do that again. Remember, I am GMT -8 so evening for some of you guys is noon for me.

Guys I'm really sorry for not responding. I had to re-enter password, which I forgot, even though I put "remember password" on. Anyway, I'm really sorry I wasn't here for the power session (but I will be home the rest of the night). A change of events at school, and a hour drive really set me off. From the looks of it thought, it seems that we really didn't do much today anyway.

On a normal week, weekends would be great. Wednesday and Thursday I can't do (at least at 3 or 4:00), but otherwise, I can make 4:00 on every other weekday.

What does GMT stand for anyway?

Greenwich Mean Time (I think so don't anybody flame me). It's the international date line. It helps when you are trying to plan games and figure out the best times. To figure out where you are go here. http://greenwichmeantime.com/

Josh, not to hurt your feelings, but you are the one that stopped the game :( Everybody has 1.14f except you. Since I'm in other games with you and I know you are 1.21f and don't want to go back to 1.14f, I asked Skyfish to continue the game and retire your civ :cry: It was either that or we can't play the game anymore. Except for you and I, all the other players live outside the US.

Yes but even some Europeans have 1.21 patch so we need to get feedback from them as well...

Skyfish, I don't know where Plux is, but I think he's moving. I'm in other PBEM games with him and all those games are stopped...with Plux. Several people have said they think he's moving, but don't know when he will be back.

Did I ever say I didn't want to go back to 1.14f? :confused: I wouldn't mind doing what you and others did- making two ptw folders and patching one. If you have already retired me then that's fine too

Josh, in our 1v1 game when you patched to 1.21f I asked you if you wanted to go back to 1.14f because I didn't want to patch due to the number of PBEM games I was in. I'm pretty sure you said you didn't want to go back to 1.14f and that's why I created the two different versions on my computer. If I misunderstood, then I'm sorry. Why don't you go ahead and put the 1.14f back on your computer because I'm pretty sure Skyfish hasn't retired your civ yet due to Plux not responding.

On a seperate note, do you want to meet Saturday morning at 6:00am my time and 9:00am your time for a couple hours?

Indeed Killer is ready to rmuble as usual, but still have not heard from Plux : no-one has been retired yet of course !

Actually, I would have went back if you hadn't gotten both to work on yours anyway. I wasn't sure if I had to reinstall PTW or anything, or if it would even accept the older patch, so that's why I might have seemed reluctant. I actually was about to ask you how in the next email, but then you said that you got both working. To further complicate things my friend and I have a 1vs1 on 1.21f, so I'll have to do what you did. Now if I knew how to get the old patch on in the first place, that could help too, so can someone please tell me how??

First of all I'd like to say sorry for holding up this game. Since two weeks I've moved and for now have no internet at the new home, that's why I've been so silent. Also, yesterday I came back from a week of snowboarding in the French Alps, and wasn't even able to play civ3 at all. Today is my first day back at the uni, and I'll take the save with me, and hope to send it on tomorrow or the day after. I think it'll take at least 3 to 4 weeks to get internet at my new place, so I will prolly still continue to slow down progression, but I promise to try to play every turn in two or three days. Again, I'm very sorry to hold up the various PBEM's im in and hope to be back @ full online strength asap ;) Of course I'll stick with playing with 1.14
