The 49ers just announced they fired Steve Mariucci as their head coach. I really can't believe they did this. He has a great record as a coach, he was well liked by his players, and he is regarded by many as one of the top coaches in the NFL.

I read some speculations by sports reporters that the niners are considering promoting defensive coordinator Jim Mora Jr. to heat coach. I really hope these guys are wrong. If you look at the major weakness of the niners over the last few years, it was their defense! Does it make sense to fire a successful coach and to promote an unsuccessful one?

They are stupid, and have unreasonable expectations.

If that's not the reason, then what is?

Maybe Mora Jr. can do what his dad never did - win a game in the playoffs!

Reports out of Jacksonville say that Jack Del Rio is going to be their new head coach, as early as today. Del Rio was a nice linebacker, but talk about going off the board.. no HC experience and only a couple of years experience as a coordinator.

This is good news for all Lions fans cause the Mooch will be in Detriot if were lucky.

Nooooooooo....

I can't believe they fired Mariucci. The 49ers will most likely suck even more now. Well, at least I started being a Raiders fan this year so I dont't care as much as I would if they fired Gruden.

Flatlander, you hit it right on the money, they are stupid and have unreasonable expectations.

I kinda doubt this. It looks like he's going to sit out a year, and I'm betting he'll be a hot commodity next year and he'll have more than a few choices. I can't imagine he'd choose to go to Detroit;) .

P.S. Nice Sig.:)

Maybe when Dick Jauronstedt gets the axe in Chicago next year we can pick up Mooch and finally have a coach that knows what offense means...

I'm serious mooch would have been the Lions coach last year if the 49ers let him leave. Think about it. Matt a friend of Mooch and his ex-offensive cordinator is puttoing the offense in place. Seems like the perfect situation to me.

I heard they fired him because of "differeing philosophies"!!! Sounds like someone has lost focus.

Yup, I take back what I said earlier. They fired Marty and now there is a lot of speculation that Mariucci is headed to Detroit. However, he is on the record saying how much he likes living in California so who knows?

I thinh he'll sit out a year and this time next year he'll have a lot more options to choose from! He can afford to, the Niners still owe him money....

Another thing to remember about Moochy, he is from Michigan so he is has been here before. Besides he can live in Cali in the offseason for all I care. Anyway I think Morty is going to be the offensive cordinator too which would be sweet. I know it sounds wierd but it wasn't the plays that were wrong, it was the personal he used with it which is the more the head coach's job. This will be so freaking awesome.

BTW when the Lions are good again you will see what fans really look like.

Mooch is in!

I hope Detroit does well next year, I have always sympathized with Lions fans (Me being a Rams fan myself!).
