Tuition is set at 20g per class taken. Our instructors are very well paid, receiving 50g per class taught. The headmaster receives 20% of overal teachings.

From friday, 24th of january, the new Powder classes are open! There's a Marksmanship class, where Veera Anlai and Snow teach both rifles and pistols. This class cost twice the normal tuition cost. Besides Marksmanship class, there are also classes for Rifles and Pistols. We accept applications for these teaching jobs.

Note, that students can't take the Marksmanship and Rifles and/or Pistols classes simultaneously.

Summary

A trainer may have as many students at one time as he has levels in the subskill he is teaching.
A character can be in a maximum of 8 classes as student or teacher at one time.

I've wondered that myself, so please correct me if I'm wrong (I've got the same 'problem' in warfare class). Your skill on the ability in question is main skill plus subskill. In your case, your speed skill would be 5.4+12.25=17.65. For Cyc, this would be 7+12.7=19.7...

Well, through the rules, Cyc can learn, but it hasn't as much effect. Perhaps we should have a discussion on this... I propose that a student can't learn when main+sub is higher than that of the teacher (main+sub instead of just sub, since teachers can only raise main skill...)

The discussion should take place in the new character stats thread that I'm about to open:)

@zarn: you can't enlist to the academy untill you've defined your character skills! Free advice: invest heavily in the new powder skills, that way you'll always have an advantage.
@strider: I'm sorry, but strategy class if full.
@cyc: could you clarify what hunting class you want to follow? There are three different classes... Or do you want to take them all? Do you have a specific reason you want to spent that much time with chieftess;)

Note to all: don't forget to distribute your new skill points! The Academy also needs teachers for the new powder skills!

i think if a student surpasses their teacher by at least a point, they should be offered the position.

Shabbaman - I would like to take both of CT's Hunting classes. I'm already in Padma's Hunting class, so these extra classes should help me learn the ropes ;) .

Cyc, you're in both classes. That means that there's an opening in Engineering class.

Jdd, you've got a point, but that should count only to the total skill difference: teachers can only upgrade main skill.

I'd be perfectly happy to give-up my spot as the Speed teacher in favor of a better, but I believe it would be almost point-less. I being the horse-racer that I am will join the class and the sitution will be back again with cyc the teacher and me the student.

Here's something that I just thought of.... Why not make TWO speed class's? One tought by me and one tought by Cyc? The speed course is one of the favoriates of the acadamy and having two might be an advantage.

I propose the dissolvement of the Vanir discount. This would seem logical, since there are no ties between the independent Academy, and the princedom of Vanir.
If the prince of Vanir wants to continue the discount, the Academy should be compensated for that.
I feel that the Vanir discount would create unequalness among the students in the long run. If the Vanir discount is discontinued, the tuition costs for all students can be lowered.

Shabba: Snow and I have equal statistics in the Rifles and Pistol categories, but I requested to teach the class first. Why did he get preference when I was first to ask?

Veera, I'm sorry, you are in fact correct. I was probably half blind at the time, since I figured snow had a higher rating. But I think we can come to an agreement, since I'd like snow as teacher as well. I wouldn't doubt if there's demand for more Powders classes...
For this training, I'll keep it like this though. I'll approach Gonzo, The Married One, if he's willing to stop teaching Equine. You could do equine class.

How about this...Veera and I do the combined Rifle and Pistol (Marksman) class. Counts as two classes for the students and instructors. That way we can take up to 10 students in the class.

Mechanically it would be the same as individual classes but it's much cooler for role playing.

I can see how this works, but there are some people interested in rifles only, for example.
But, since I suspect rifles and pistols will be full pretty soon, I can propose a new class, of course: marksman class. Trains both pistol and rifles, skills NOT combined, double the cost, double the income. But I can't afford double the pay.

Well, 'legally', you're both able to teach 5 students for each skill, together, you can teach up to 10 students. But (I think) you can't teach in rifles/pistols besides marksmanship. So, I'll have to find someone else to teach those classes.

Summary:

The deal sounds fine to me Shabba, although I'm curious if a person enrolled in Marksmanship can also enroll in Pistols/Rifles....
I'd also be willing to teach Equine, but don't press Gonzo too hard to jump ship if he doesn't want to do so.

CivGeneral: you can't join rifles and pistols, since you're already in 7 classes.

id like to drop out of speed and join the marksmanship class, please. id also like to ask that we be able to attend 10 classes, now that there is so many.

Other thread for that question, JDD... If you want to join marksmanship, you have to drop another class, since marksmanship counts as two classes.

Veera, congratulations! You've got the job as Equine teacher! I also read that you weren't interested in Charges class, but I had you teach the last two classes nevertheless. If you want to quit, let me know, then I'll teach them myself (as the next highest ranked)!

@jdd2007 (& everybody else) - For rule changes, simply send your change request to all of the RPG Managers. Currently they are BCLG100, Strider and Naervod. For subrule sets like Character Stats, two of them must agree to the change. If they do, forward me their responses and the rule will be changed.

Did you contact CT and Naervod if they want to be teachers? I do need confirmation for that.

And, for a little nuance: no, I don't like your proposals, for 4 reasons:
1. The skill difference go for many classes/teachers, so I'd have to change them all.
2. I don't like to 'fire' teachers, since that doesn't show any respect.
3. After some turnchats, the former teacher will have surpassed the new teacher, so it's back to #1, over and over again (this is my main objection)
4. And it's my job:)
I've had the idea of a 'masterclass' in the past, but I've come to the conclusion that that'd be way too much work.

Ok, looks like I am Pistols instructor? But what is the point of indivdual Pistols and Rifles courses if everyone is taking Marksmanship?

In other words, what more is there to learn about these items other than pointing them and shooting them?

IMO, there should only be the three Powders classes with the marksmanship implied. Then again, I'm still teaching folks how to dodge fists and swords, so I could be mistaken. :D BTW, thanks for the interest in my class, Veera.

Well, marksmanship class is twice the cost. Some people aren't interested in pistols, but are interested in rifles. Take a look at their stats.

Finally, the results for the 11/2 training are in. I'll put up the results for the 14/2 and 17/2 trainings asap, including above changes. This has been our last training with Gonzo and BCLG btw... We'll miss them!

Due to the recent loss of some students, the management is forced to raise from 15g to 18g per training (please remember that it used to be 25g)

My steeplechase skills are... crap. I have a competition score of 4 for steeplechase, versus your 15... But then again, you're the absolute steeple chase master.

Another thing btw: since some classes are getting smaller, should I:

a. lower salaries
b. raise tuition costs
