*shrugs* I didn't much care for that decision either - I don't really see the point. Tournaments and GOTMs are so much on the honor system anyway I never gave those arguments much credence myself. Why take it out?

Hey, hey, calm down there... Why would you need any cheats anyway? Just play the game...

No, no cheats. Cheats were what kept me from becoming good at Civ 2... That, and the fact that I was several years younger then.

Do you play as Russia by any chance? Do you think that Catherine was the best pick for the leader, I disagree with the creaters choice of her.

Well neo, I can tell you that there is a little disagreement on this side of the Atlantic about whether Lincoln was a good choice for the Americans.

"Perfectly historically accurate" are words you won't usually hear to describe Civ. Personally, I think it would be cool if you could pick your leader from a short list at the start. Say, maybe Washington, Lincoln, or Roosevelt for the Americans (or something like that.)

My big gripe when it comes to leaders is Joan. Most of the others are at least arguable (e.g. very few people would claim Lincoln wasn't at a minimum one of the most important historical US Presidents) but Joan just makes no sense. Napoleon or Louis XIV would've been best historically IMO, but I guess they really wanted more female leaders (despite the - possibly regrettable - historical fact that a large majority of the most important historical leaders were, in fact, male).

Here is what I think for countries:
Russia= V.I Lenin, Leon Trotsky, J.V Stalin
France=Napoleon
America=FDR
England=Churchill

That's something I liked about Civs 1 and 2.

You could change your leader's name and gender, as well as name your cities as you build them.

I'd like to be able to use other leaders for the civs than the defaults. There were other Caesars apart from Julius for the Romans, other Pharoahs. Henry IV and V as well Victoria for England. And definately some of China's early emperors would be great choices apart from Mao.

You may now this, from how your sentence isphrased, but you can change the city name after its built. Right click city and select the option.

Yeah, knew it, thanks. I just don't like how it was implemented in Civ 3 compared to previous Civ versions. Just a minor nit-pick of mine.. not enough to make me not want to play.

Also, when you start, if you click on the box under the leader's picture in the setup screen, you can change Name, Gender, Civ name, etc.

Settle down, Mac. I wasn't even talking to you- I was responding to Grey Randall's post 1 behind you. While I think this thread has wandered a bit off-topic, your question has been clearly answered. The answer was NO.

If you're going to take offense to things people say when they are not talking to you, you're in for a rough life.

Apparently, the guy who makes flicster has gone missing, and did not release the source code. I'm gonna start looking at the code, i got the GIMP image editor for X11 with an FLC plugin. The FLC header Civ3 uses is non-standard. Perhaps a plugin for GIMP, or a stand-alone application can be built. I know quicktime can read and play standard FLC animations. I think that a basic FLICster could take several weeks to several months to put together from scratch, unsless someone who knows a lot more about the format than I do wants to program it. I think It'd be much easier to get the source for the PC version, a port would be easier than ground-up.
