Cyc Feb 03, 2003, 09:55 AM 40J, I suffered a humiliating loss, defeat, whatever in 1505. I thought I was going to lose by a UN vote, but I never got a chance to vote. I didn't much like being stuck on an island. I like room to grow.
FortyJ Feb 04, 2003, 06:10 PM Cyc
Me neither... The inept manservant that generated that starting position is long-since fired from the casino.... Hopefully, his replacement will learn from that lesson and make sure that the next game is more enjoyable for all.

FortyJ Feb 12, 2003, 10:10 PM Huntington, Fanatika - The casino management has announced today that it has struck a deal with the New Fanatikan Football League (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=44241) to serve as a medium for their games.
Results of the league's games will be broadcast from the #goldbluffcasino chat room and some games will even be broadcast live! Stockholders will be pleased to hear that the casino will be compensated for there involvement in this endeavor and the casino will be providing odds and lines along with numerous other wagers on the games which will further enhance casino profitability.
Come find out the score at the sea shore, only at the Gold Bluff Casino!
FortyJ Feb 13, 2003, 05:05 PM There has been some talk about the next version of Play The World and when it will be released. To add fuel to this fire, the casino has started accepting wagers on this topic.
And the wager is...
What Version Number will the next patch contain (current version is 1.14f, I believe...)?
All wagers will be accepted. Simply post the amount and your prediction for the patch number in this thread. The winner will receive the entire pot*. If more than one person selects the winning version number, then they will split the pot* evenly.
Wagers will close the day before the patch is released. For example, if the patch is released on a Friday, then no wagers will be accepted after 11:59 EST Thursday night.
<><><><><>
* total available pot = sum of all wagers less 10% house fee.
No offense intended to those citizens who favor the GMT time zone, but since Firaxis is a company whose headquarters are located in EST, I figured it would be better to use that time zone.
Veera Anlai Feb 13, 2003, 05:19 PM And just what is to stop me from wagering one gold piece, winning, and taking the entire pot of the saps who bet more? ;-) What benefit is there to betting more money?
FortyJ Feb 13, 2003, 09:15 PM Good point... I was originally thinking that the pot would be divided proportionately between the winners, meaning if you bet 1g on a certain number and somebody else bet 9g on the same number and that number was the winner, you'd get 10% of the pot and the other person would get 90%.
However, upon further reflection, I think I'd rather make it a set price per bet... and allow unlimited bets, so...
The wager is hereby changed as follows:
You may "purchase" a choice for 50g. Each choice can be used for a single number (ie. 1.14f). You can also purchase up to 10 choices. Winnings will still be distributed amongst the winners in the event of a tie.
Stuck_as_a_Mac Feb 14, 2003, 05:42 PM 50g on 1.15! and another 50g on 1.18!
Plexus Feb 14, 2003, 05:53 PM 50 g on 1.22 :)
WildFire Feb 14, 2003, 07:06 PM 50g on 1.21 :D
jdd2007 Feb 14, 2003, 07:55 PM 50 on 1.19 and 50 on 1.21
FortyJ Feb 14, 2003, 09:29 PM Huntington, Fanatika - The management is pleased to announce the temporary hiring of NFFL Commissioner Veera as a new manager in the casino.
Veera will be responsible for handling all wagers related to the NFFL games on behalf of the casino. Welcome aboard.
If you wish to reach Veera concerning the upcoming games, you can find her in the Royal Suite here at the casino. She'll be staying here all week for the opening ceremonies for the NFFL.
Veera Anlai Feb 15, 2003, 12:58 AM Alrighty, I'm ready to open betting on tomorrow's game between the Valhalla Spirits and the Bohemia Bakers! I've done a bit of research into Sports Betting odds, and I believe I've come up with a system that will be fair to all betters, and to the house.
In this match, after taking into effect Statistics and Abilities, the odds slightly favor the Valhalla Spirits. The betting odds are as follows:
Spirits 100:112
Bakers 100:132
This means that for every 100 gold pieces you bet on the Spirits, you will earn 112 if they win
For every 100 gold pieces you bet on the Bakers, you will earn 132 if they win
Betting is OPEN! Place your bets before the game begins tomorrow (Saturday, Feb 15) at 6 PM EST.
Please remember that the Gold Bluff Casino fee is 10% of every winning bet.
FortyJ Feb 15, 2003, 10:12 PM Ummmm.... Veera.... We're going to have to have a little discussion concerning betting odds. ;)
Veera Anlai Feb 16, 2003, 10:29 AM I used the betting odds used by casinos... 'Course, the problem comes from the fact that those odds assume there are people betting on *both* teams ¬_¬

contests, less 10% management fee. In the event that there is a tie, the Pot
will be divided evenly among all winners.
Strider Mar 17, 2003, 10:36 AM I'm going to do the Pick Your Pony thing and pick Alabama....
FortyJ Mar 17, 2003, 10:51 AM Keep in mind, that you can pick multiple teams (at 100g each) in the Pick Your Pony wager. However, all entries must be in before first tip-off on the 20th.
Also, in the Weekend Warrior wagers, late entries (ie. next weekend) will be accepted, but those players will start with 0 points. So, it's better to participate from the start.

You're still alive in the Pick Your Pony wager. But, as far as the Weekend Warriors wagers is concerned, I do not recall receiving anything from you on that particular wager. Feel free to join in this week if you like. The points will continue to increase, so you will have a chance to win even by starting at this late date.
