View Full Version : Game always crashes when 'Right of Passage' agreement ends.

Um, rough summary of the game so far. I'd played as Greek and was doing quite well in terms of acquiring land area and resources when the French, jealous of my vast wealth, luxury, and that cute little hat of Alexander's, attacked. I used my wealth and influence to call everyone else into war against her, mostly just offering luxuries and iron and horses to anyone. Once they'd agree to come to my aid, I gave them a right of passage agreement for free to help them get there in time to be useful.

All was well, the French were soundly trounced, and indeed wiped out. My most useful ally, the Chinese, walked away with regretably little and spent the next odd dozen turns doing that weird 'patrol the border' dance the computer is so fond of. I prepared to explore the world when all of a sudden the game crashed. This being Civ 3, I didn't think there was anything too unusual about it. I reloaded, came to the same year, and it crashed again, at exactly the same spot, apparantly during China's turn.

Hoping that was a clue (It's been awhile since I actually played a game out to the end and I didn't really want to loose this one to some bug if I could help it) I tried contacting China and checking active agreements, lo and behold 'right of passage' was listed with one more binding turn.

Going out on a limb, I tried declaring war on China; the only way I could think of it to modify or get rid of it. Sure enough, the next turn came and went (And I lost a city because all of my forces were directed south where France had been, but oh well).

Now.... Now that I know what's causing the crashes (Kind of, sort of, anyways) is there anything I can actually do about it other than breaking the RoP and declaring war on China (Or preferably, have them break it and declare on me?)

The save game is available, though I don't think the board gives quite enough space to upload it here. Oh, and this is using version 1.29, the most recent I believe. Patched it only last week I think.

Hi Kayla.

I'm currently investigating a similar bug in the DyP mod, and I would like to get your savegame in order to compare the two and hopefully find out why the ROP agreement crashes the game (or at least submit the two games to the guys who can really fix it :) )

If you still have the game, please send it to isak@privat.dk

Thanks in advance
