View Full Version : CTP Vs CivIII
MrLeN Feb 27, 2001, 08:42 AM Have a look at the amount of posts at the Call to Puke section, and then have a look at the amount of posts in the Civ III General Discussion section.
I would like to note that CivIII isn't even released yet. Can anyone here STILL say that Call to power is KING? Can anyone say that CivII is dead?
The only reason that there is so much talk about Civ III is because of the Great, and Strong Following for Civ and Civ II (THE ORIGINAL)!!!

phoenixcager Mar 01, 2001, 02:59 AM As much as I like playing CtP, I'd be the first to admit that Civ 2 is in a league of its own.
However, there's such a thing as playing too much of a game....

leonel Jun 17, 2002, 08:58 PM CTP doesn't even hold a candle compared to Civ 3 with its humongous forest fire!

Yes I played too much Civ2 or better I moved to many settlers ech turn, so I must say Civ2 plays in the 200++ settler league. And Civ3 in the 200++ worker league.

Barenziahlover Jun 24, 2002, 02:45 AM I donot like to compare games like call to power 1 and 2 to civ 2 and 3. They are all
great games.
I like call to power to power 1 over call
to power 2 as ctp 1 have space cities you
can built.
Civil 1 came out for the 386 computer that try it was very limit in what it has compare to the other game above. The 386 computer was very limitly compare to
today computer.
Moff Jerjerrod Jul 31, 2002, 06:33 AM I agree with you Barenziahlover wrt space cities in CtP. I really miss them in CtP2 but enjoy playing both.
Like you I agree that all civ type games are fun. It is only with an open mind can one truely enjoy playing them all! :goodjob:
Raven1er Aug 26, 2002, 04:28 PM You know, ive been comparing CTP Series and CivIII......and frankly i wouldve chosen CTP over civ3 if CTP had stronger AI and no bugs.
and interface.
Martin Gühmann Aug 28, 2002, 05:46 AM I would say try CTP2 modded Raven1er.
-Martin
Raven1er Aug 28, 2002, 07:53 AM no, i already fixed the bugs w/o mod
thanks anyway

You mean you have huge difficuilties with the AI it is nearly killing you in CTP2?

Raven1er Aug 28, 2002, 10:25 AM almost
calgacus May 11, 2003, 06:58 PM CTP II definitely has a variety in the gameplay lacking in civiii. The modded versions make it better than civiii, even if they don't fix the AI.
gobeefy Jun 28, 2003, 09:58 PM If anybody wants a PBEM game for CIV CTP (Play By E-Mail) just email me at: nfgobeefy@hotmail.com and tell me when you want to start plus your favourite game settings.:)
gobeefy Jun 28, 2003, 10:00 PM CIV ctp is a game that you can easily spend a whole day playing.
Space cities are awesome but...
I just think ACTIVISION made it to easy to by, Allowing people to pop huge armies out of space in one turn because of 1_20 movement.
+ I love being Vikings they RULE
:viking:CIV ctp
PeteT Jun 30, 2003, 03:24 AM Gobeefy,
Unfortunately, this is not a very active CTP site.
I think you're more likely to find PBEM opponants here:

RX2000 Jul 04, 2003, 04:08 AM Maybe I should go back and try and get into CTP again...... I bought it and tried to play it once, thinking it would be something like Civ2, but it wasnt so I didnt play it long. Workers dont build improvements, wtf? :(

That is one of the best features of CTP1 and CTP2, you don't have to move 100 200 or 300 stupid settlers over the map. So PW is an intelegent feature while settlers or in Civ3 workers are a slow feature.

Evennaar Sep 15, 2003, 10:18 AM CTP comparing to CIV 3....no way, Civ 3 is better by far! No question about that, although I have to admit that when you have a vast country in CIV 3 (or 2), to go over all the workers is a bit of a bore. Otherwise...don't waste your time playing CTP, go and get a beer instead!

What you just told me Civ3 is a huge waste of time and then I shouldn't waste my time with CTP. Actual which CTP, CTP1 or CTP2? OK some questions does have Civ3 MP, is it possible to mod Civ3 as I want, does it have an scripting language, is it true that the Civ3 map uses 8bit tiles? Well I could go on here but I have other stuff to do. :D

Solver Sep 20, 2003, 04:18 PM An interesting fact. People who love CtP can always say what they love about it. People who hate CtP can't usually argument their position too well.

The entire post says that Civ 3 is better, but it mentions 1 bad thing about Civ 3 (worker hassle), but mentions no bad thing about CtP.
Hmm...

We got a name for that...lemmings!
Matrix Sep 23, 2003, 04:35 AM This site is of course ment for Civilization I/II/III and the people who register to this forum are mostly for those games. The Call To Power series are derivatives. So you can't draw conclusions from the traffic.
