I am a newbie to Modding and have absolutley no idea how to do ANYTHING (yes, I am laaaaaame). But I have been playing Civ since the first one and have to admit I am in love with TET's mod. I know that it is possible to add units and leaders to mods and was wondering if anyone has created any Special Forces for PTW? If not, is anyone interested in creating them? My thinking would be that these Units would be like the pirates, with no nationality attached to them per se, but would be able to slip behind enemy lines and wreak havok. I am thinking of something similar to the Gurrillas from Civ II only more powerful...any thoughts?

The only problem with that is that anyone, and everyone, attacks them. I use a legionairre unit to act in this manner, basically to allow me to help a friend in war without having to actually declare war. The problem is, my "friend" sees my legionairres as enemies, since they have no nationality, and destroys them himself. Of course, I can leave 1 flagged unit on top of them to prevent that, but still, doesn't quite work the way I intended. Still usefull though, and with some preparation/tweaking is a fun way to get things done.

You can flag the unit as invisible as well and then sneak it into the enemies rear area. You're allies will still attack it if they see it if it's nationality is hidden, but you can manuever it to where only the bad guys are likely to encounter it.
In my mod the Guerilla is invisible and ignores movement cost, but I haven't hidden there nationality. They're great for quiet scouting and wreaking havoc behind the lines.

The AI can see invisible units too, just like it knows the map already and just like it knows where all the resources are.

That has not been my experience. With invisible units I mean, my subs and Guerillas sneak around pretty good. Although your right, the AI definitly can see visible units, terrain and resources that it shouldn't be able to. Forget and leave some arty or worker undefended and the AI will make a bee-line to it even if there is no way it could know it's there. :(

The AI can see everything, it is just a question of how it uses that information.
The AI can see your invisible units but just doesn't attack them until it can rightfully "see" them.
However, the AI has a strong hatred of "hidden-nationality" units. So strong in fact that it overrides its normal reaction to invisible units.
If the unit is flagged with both "hidden-nationality" and invisible the AI will hunt down and destroy the units without concern for whether it should be able to see them or not.
I have tried it and it is rather frustrating. I guess no one has brought this to their attention before.
