View Full Version : More Player Mod
dojoboy Jan 23, 2003, 06:34 AM Attached is a mod.bic made for me by ferretloverdc some time back, before 1.21g. It allows you to play more civs on different size maps than the default number allows. I thought others might be interested in it. One thing though, the option screen for map type and size is not popping up, it goes straight to the option screen for choosing your civ, etc. This means you have to play the default map which is huge. It never did this before, and I'm wondering if it has something to do w/ 1.21g, haven't played it since 1.21g was released. Maybe someone could tinker w/ it in VPC to get the map option screen up and running, otherwise, you'll just get the corruption bonus on a huge map.
Enjoy.

Grey Randall Jan 23, 2003, 07:46 AM I noticed a similar thing when I first started playing around with the hacked editor. I was working with variations on the Marla Singer Earth map. Versions 1-5 would jump straight to the CIV selection screen. I can't remember exactly what I did to fix this, but versions 6-10 all came up the right way.
Sid Jan 23, 2003, 03:58 PM Great idea!! Thanx dojoboy. I want this mod, when I can select Standard sized maps, 'cos Large and Huge bog my system too much. [Bye-the-bye, and slightly OT, there are three great new maps on the Civ3 main site (TheBay; EarthStandardMatt; and Plenty) -- I am playing TheBay and really enjoying it.]
DiamondzAndGunz Jan 23, 2003, 06:01 PM I once modded up a scenario to play 16 civs on a tiny map. Fun, fun fun. I recommend it! :goodjob:
I think it'd be pretty easy to fix it, since I believe it has to do with the scenario properties. I'll check it out.

Great, thanks DnG! :goodjob:
DiamondzAndGunz Jan 23, 2003, 07:34 PM Ok, I've figured some things out. If there is a specific map created for the scenario, it will run the map, and not allow you to generate one. This may not be how it was in the past, but now it's like this, and I doubt there's any preference to change it. If you want, I could just remove the custom map from the scenario, and you'll be able to choose a randomly generated one. Or, you can just use this mod I just put together. It allows 16 civs on any size map. Of course, unless you want total chaos, I don't recommend 16 civs on a tiny map ( much fun though! ). Unlike the other mod, I haven't changed the OCN, so there will be no difference in corruption.
dojoboy Jan 23, 2003, 08:24 PM Nice, very nice DnG. People, I recommend the mod. :goodjob:
DiamondzAndGunz Jan 23, 2003, 08:46 PM Thanks, I'm glad you like it. :) If you need anything else, just post it!
