Who all here has playeD Caesar3? I think it's one of the best games ever. It's a sim city type game but it's based upon the roman empire, U must govern your province and defeat enemies with your legions. It's great! I recommend it to all! Who else has played it?

Caesar III is a fun game. The Caesar sent legions to capture me all the time (maybe because I didn't pay him any tax?). At first, Those roman legions would destory my beautiful cities like a tornado! http://forums.civfanatics.com/mad.gif

. One of my favorite old board games was Ceasar, Alesia. Ceasar has 50,000 Romans and allies, he is besieging 80,000 Gauls with Vercigetorix inside a fortress on top of a mesa, there are 200,000 more Gauls in a ring around the Romans besiging them. The outside Gauls were manuvered on a separate display until they attcked the Roman works. The Roman player would send out cavalry chohorts to find them. The cavlary would report no/light Gaul force in a sector, "engaged with medium force", or vannish without a trace http://forums.civfanatics.com/eek.gif, indicate to Ceasar to reinforce that sector of the seige works.

While my 2 Legions, 2 Javelons, and 1 Horsemen Legions are for backup. I have only 1 Legion of horsemen, so they can get to the battle quick to delay the enemy till my other legions arrive. Well, I have played it, and I didn't enjoy it that much. I couldn't figure out why my ppl weren't getting water, and yet I had aqueducts out to them. I still haven't found a SimCity like game that captured my attention like Civ2 has captured it (I know Civ2 isn't a Sim, I am just talking about loving a game...eew, sick! http://forums.civfanatics.com/wink.gif ).

This is werid because I was thinking of Ceaser III night before last and actually reinstalled the game to play it for awhile, I got to the 7 scenario, back when I was playing it alot. THe one directly after the Hannibal invasion, The game gets really hard from there.

Yeah i think one of the hardest levels is Lugdumnum. Tons of Earthquakes and mudslides cutting off your trade.

You might have a tough time with this. It was a old-fashioned war game, with a mounted map and cardboard playing pieces. It was produced in the US by Avalon Hill, but they discontinued it long before they went belly-up, so I don't think the new AH (whoever holds the rights these days) will still have it. Your best chance is to check wargame sites (there are still a few), to look for someone willing to part with it. I have the sequel to Caesar III and Pharaoh - Master of Olympus, Zeus (as I said in a topic). It's really GREAT! (not greater than Civ though).

I think Caesar III beats it's sequel-prequel, Pharaoh, in some aspects though. First, the graphics. In C3, it's all clear, we can see the difference between all houses, structures, dwellers, etc. In pharaoh, everything is greenish!! You can't make out the difference between Straw and Grain!

Well, I am looking forward to play Zeus now.

Try some of the wargame auctions, it might be cheaper, but Alesia has been out of print for years now, and classic wargames are considered collector's items.

Can someone give me advice on getting my prosperity up. I can't seem to get it above 15.


Also for those of you who play, do you usually play military or peace?

To get the Pros up, you need to a have a market with many different trade goods. Also, click on your buildings, they will tell you what is needed to improve an area. As your buildings improve, your Pros level will climb. It is sometimes better to clear some kinds of buildings to make a city area more profitable. Also, try to make sure your houses have access to working foutains, and that there is no unemployment. If you have a lot of unemployment, then you have to many people in your city. Get rid of them by razing their houses. All this should help.
Edit: I forgot to answer the second question: I always play on the military cities. The prosperity ones have to many disasters for my taste. I know how to handle an invasion! http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/wink.gif

Ceasar's a really great game! I was playing Ceasar II even before Civ.
