I don't really have a favorite. Battlefield Earth for it's Scientology comedy and I think Independence Day from the poll options, because I don't consider District 9 to be an 'invasion' themed movie. The prawns were definitely on Earth against their will.

Of these District 9 was the only one i have both seen and generally liked, so its a vote for that one.

Haven't seen any of them save Independence Day which was pretty dull, uninspired.

I wonder why District 9 is in the lead?

All the other choices have bad aliens come to eat us, but in D9, we're the bad guys, tacking advantage the poor prawns. Is this a generation gap thing?

Maybe it's because District 9 is the only decent movie from the list? (haven't seen Skyline and Battlefield: LA though).

Crap, this was supposed to be one of those polls where you could vote for more than one option.

Maybe it's because District 9 is the only decent movie from the list? (haven't seen Skyline and Battlefield: LA though).

Independence Day was good.

Skyline and Battle: LA were utter crap. Don't bother watching them.

District 9 certainly was a good movie, but the underlying plot was reversed. Instead of powerful and hostile Alien Overlords come to eat us - in this movie harmless, victimized aliens (like in Alienation) are treated like wetbacks and exploited by an evil human corporation.

Independence Day was good.

Skyline and Battle: LA were utter crap. Don't bother watching them.

Independence Day was good in a summer popcorn movie type of way, but not as serious sci-fi. But it fits the criteria for this poll. That said, District 9 is far better. Then again, I feel rated R movies will always be better than kiddie PG-13 movies.

I liked the original war of the worlds, I'm surprised no one here likes that. I loved that movie as a kid. But I admit it doesn't hold up to modern movie standards, it's why I had to vote for District 9.

District 9 deserves to be in the list, because its story doesn't go to the cliche of alien invasion that the "Heroic" USA stop it. Besides,it shows that the bad guys can be us,instead of aliens.

District 9 is the best movie on the list but not really an invasion movie.

So I guess Independence Day, because Randy Quaid.

I picked Indenpendence day, that was a great one, simple plot too, 'the aliens are invading and Will Smith has to save us, along with the president, and a geeky guy!' :)

I thought District 9 was good but overrated.
Skyline was just god awful, i want that 1hr and a half of my life back dammit! (Thank god i did'nt wast money on it, just watched it online)

District 9 was grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat! It could have won the oscar but the Hurt Locker was pretty good as well.

The last part why I like. I don't think the USA theme has that much to do with it other than most of these movies were made by Americans so it just made sense to set them there.
