Another great game from Sid Meir! I remember the time when i had an oil platform churning 100.000 liters of oil a month! The was the time when i reach the money limit. Tried to do it again but cant. Anyone else like this game?

I've only played the original

I've done it hunderds of hours, but at a certain time it became really irritating that there is limit for the number of vehicles (I've never reached the money limit). But sometimes I still play it <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif" border=0>.

I have spend several hundred hours playing Transport Tycoon Delux! And I think it's one of the best games ever made.

I dont mind being corrected Pedro, but i will credit Sid with it anyway.

The money limit, on my version, was something around 3.4 billion dollars.

But i dont know who you keep on reaching the vechile limit Matrix, 50-60 trains, 20 or so planes and 30 vechiles 20 ships, was all i had to reach 3.4 billion dollars in 2040. If the vechile limit is 150 then i understand but anything more than that would clutter the map too much.

It's okay, MrSparkle, I agree that transport tycoon is just an evolution of railroad tycoon. I've played it for hours too. And when I got bored I started teasing the computer by forcing him to build extremely long tracks with unnecesary twists and expensive bridges. OOOO I'm sooooo evil http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/devil.gif

The evilist thing to do to the computer playes is build a train that will go back and forth over a road and kill all the the computer's road vechiles.

I did that too once! That was really crude! http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/groucho-marx.gif

But I didn't clutter up the map. But my favourite way of transport is the train and every wagon counts for a vehicle. That way you can easily build up the number of vehicles (transporting all the goods from a factory).

Trains are my fav too matrix, but once i have 50 sets of tracks going all over the map, it take some time to convert them all to monorail / maglev becuase they all interlock.

I did the lorry destruction trick too, but I found out that it was more profitable to lure the trucks to a piece of road owned by myself and then isolate them for the rest of their lives, so they won't ever see their homestation again, while the upkeep is still being payed. Geez, I really what made me so malevolant towards those computer opponents?

I always reach my vehicle limit before the monorail is available. I only haven't got a clue to how many tracks I usually make. It depends on the number of industries and cities.

B.t.w. Pedro: After a while I stopped playing against computers, because they were always in the way and were no match as competitors, even at the highest level (I don't try to show myself; it's just the way it is.). And because of their vehicles I had to have less vehicles because of the limit.

True. Maybe they should develop a new version of transport tycoon. They remade railroad tycoon and it was a step in the right direction, but not enough for me (too limited)

Just for the record.....I thought Railroad Tycoon was the 2nd worst game ever made. (The worst would be the "Scacrid Mirror of KoFun" and I'm sure Fish will back my up on this one http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/wink.gif)

But Transport Tycoon was an awesome game. I never got past basic planes though. I found the game a little too slow to play. Anyway....I would probably by Transport Tycoon 2!!!

Railroad Tycoon 2 was a bad game? http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/eek.gif
Well, actually I only played a demo, and judging from that 'gaming experience' I can't say I didn't like it, though I agree that it doesn't come close to Transport Tycoon; they're entirely different games!

There's an exellent (unofficial) patch for Transport Tycoon Deluxe :
http://publish.uwo.ca/~jdrexler/ttdpatch/
It changes a lot of stuff including the vehicle limits :)

Becka

I downloaded the patch and read the instructions.

But how in the world to I "Unzip the ZIP files you've downloaded, into your TTD directory"???

I've never unziped something before!

Oh, and while I'm at it, look at this screen shot:

http://publish.uwo.ca/~jdrexler/ttdpatch/features.html

Now look at the first screen shot on that page. Maize?! Water?! Diamonds?! I have TTD and I haven't seen anything like that! What's going on here?

You need Winzip or something similar to extract a .zip file. (what! you don't already have it??) ;)
Bare in mind that the patch ONLY works with the *Deluxe* version of Transport Tycoon, the one with the different "climates". The screenshot shows the desert climate.

This is a great patch but is not for the faint hearted...

How do I get winzip? What am I missing here?

And I do have TT Deluxe! At least that is what it says on the jewl case. It even talks about the different terrains on the back of the packaging. If someone had tried to make a fool of Becka, their going to get a lorry up their...

...well, you know. :D

You should be able to get winzip from any computer magazine that has CDs attached to it...I cannot believe you have never used winzip especially since you use the internet...

Crazy Eddie

Becka:
If you've got the deluxe version when you start the game you should see "Transport Tycoon Deluxe" on the splash screen and end up at a screen that shows 4 pictures of different climates, if you don't then you've got the earlier version that only had the temperate climate. (and won't work with the patch)
When you unzip the patch you end up with a file called ttdpatch.txt, this will tell you what to do.

If you havn't got Winzip on a magazine CD, then try:
http://www.winzip.com/
Size about 1.5 megs.

You can also use the program Winace at www.winace.com
I like that program better, it has more options. Both programs are shareware, and you are supposed to register them after a set amoutn of time, but they never seem to lock you out from using them.

Thanks guys!

I'm afraid I have an earlier verson of TT (even though it says deluxe!). I'll have to find out if I can find a later version.
