Are we talking about the computer game or the regular card game???
I used to play the card game, but stopped more or less when Vision came out, I simply don't have to money to keep buying all those extremely wild new cards that comes out every second month - Wizards of the Coast really ruined a great game in their quest for more money.
I have played the computer game a bit, but I find it a bit to easy, the AI is too predictable!!

I was thinking about both, I have alot of cards, but I stopped around the Visions expansion too, Like Shadowdale mentioned, the game just got to expensive. And the computer game just wasn't very challenging.

Shadowdale is absolutely right !!!

Actually they started ruining it for me when they started bringing old cards back on the market. And it is too costly to kep up>

I started playing around tempest and stopped until Urza's Destiny came out

I started playing when the computer game appeared. I stopped before the whole Urza's thing and never touched the cards again.
Now I still have like a thousand cards, worth several hundreds of DOLLARS (or Euro's if you like). I really should sell those d*mn cards!

I have seen people playing Magic and I find it VERY boring. It's for people that haven't got the mony to buy a real startegy or fighting computer game!

Magic is actually quite expensive, that's why I use my friends cards for the most part http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif

When you've got the virus, you don't think about the ridiculous prices paid for those stupid pieces of paper. My most expensive card is the Nether Void, worth about $30 to $40. The game itself is rather interesting, but is has become way too commercial by introducing a new set of cards every couple of months. A serious player has to update his collection with every new set if he wants to keep a tournament legal (for insiders: type II) deck. I gave up that ilusion a long time ago, so I focused more on older cards like said Nether Void or cards like the Icy Manipulator, Kjeldoran Outpost and Sylvan Library (the original ones of course). I even concentrated on collecting entire sets and even collecting cards from a specific artist for a while. However, if you put those cards together in a deck, they're fun to play with, but not against a player who's got creatures with new features like shadow, buyback and idontknowwhat. He'll either kill you in an instant or complain about the fact that half of your deck is banned or at least restricted.
The concept of Magic was strategic planning & thinking within a fantasy concept, but know it's just a matter of: who has the newest, best, most expensive cards. And that's a terrible shame.

I completely agree with you Pedro...it is indeed sad and is why, for the most part, I play amongst friends who love to play with all of the cards, completely unrestricted. It makes for some very interesting games, expecially when we play 4 on 4 and are drawing from my friends collection....he has thousands of cards and I have a few thousand myself.

A lot of people view Magic as a waste of money, but I think of it as an investment. Magic the way it was and still is for the most part is a great game and one that I hope to be playing quite some time from now.

Oh and Pedro, when you come over for that steak dinner, bring your decks as well http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/lol.gif

I used to play Magic but stopped at the end of last year. I Unfortunatley did not start playing until Excodus came out so i missed out on all the cards that are really worth something. But last year i collected the entire set of Mercadian Masques, then sold all my other cards 'cept one deck. The game is just too expensive if you want to keep up with it.

So now and then i break out my out-dated deck and have a game or two but my bank account is alot healthier now that i have broken the habbit

Hmm didn't any of you start at the beginning???
I began to play when Legends came out, so I have quite a few unlimited cards and lots of very valuable cards!! I have a Mox, Ancestral recall a few Berserk, just to mention some of my most expensive cards!!
I played Magic, because it was fun, but mostly because I love to collect stuff!!! I think that I still have three complete Revised editions, plus complete The Dark, Fallen Empire, Chronicles, Ice Age, Vision and 4th edition!!!

When M:TG came out, I was to young to understand the game. It didn't catch my attention until the appearance of ice age and I started playing not until Visions came out.

Well, I went to the tourney this weekend and didn't fair so well. I have been playing 4 player unrestricted for far too long and it has taken a toll on my two player capabilities. Hmm, I did make my deck an hour before going hehe...partied the night before (celebrated my b-day a lil early)

The kewlest deck I seen was an awesome rebel deck. They were quite common, but this one guy just had it tweaked to perfection..you wouldn't believe. I had to play him at one point in the round robin and it was insane.

Another kewl deck I seen was this crazy five colored deck! Yes, five colors and it worked well. Can't remember much about it since I was demolished in the blink of an eye, but I do recall one card in particular....cus it was kind of kewl; Exotic Disease I believe.

Anywho..just thought I'd share my experience.
