I thought I'd finally give this type of game a try. So far, my greatest difficulty is securing strategic resources, and since I've been cordial to everyone, its been easy. Costly, but easy. Also, I thought I'd get bullied on a regular basis, but it occurred only once and that was early in the game. You'd be surprised how large a force a five-city civ can afford.

Some quick stats as of 1758 AD:

*Civ: Egypt
*Level: Regent
*Top Cities: Four of my five cities are ranked 1,2,3 and 5.
*GWs: Built 10 of 15 Great Wonders, currently 10 - 12 turns away from Universal Suffrage and Hoover Dam.
*Total Culture: 25,003
*Top Culture City: Thebes @ 6,808 (two others around 5,900)
*Approval Rating: 95%

Curious as to how I'm going to win. Attempting s/r, but may have to revert to UN to make sure I do. Also, I'm not sure if I've got a chance in hell for a culture win, in spite of all the GWs - just too small.

I've done a 5CC before (might I refer you to the last GOTM? :D). Of course, it didn't start out as a 5CC, but still. Yes, gathering the resources can be hard, but a lot of the time, you really don't need them. You can build units, and then get the resource, and upgrade them. And, since you have only 5 cities, you won't really have too large of a military anyway.

Nope, doesn't look like you're gonna win by culture- that, or it's gonna be a pretty tight squeeze. S/R and Diplomacy are both reasonable, although Diplomacy will come sooner. It looks like you have some fairly nice land (unlike what I had in the GOTM- barely any resources!), not to mention all those enemy troops "passing through."

Good game, Dojoboy. Actually, you may have a chance at the culture win.

Well, I recently attempted the 5CC again w/ Babylon. I ended up quitting out of the first one, lost the motivation.

After reading Charis' strategy guide on 5CCs, I went after it again. It was a regent level attempt. So far, I've won it through diplomacy, s/r, and culture. I'm most proud of the cultural victory because it was my first ever, and it was a 20k victory.

I simply saved the game before the victories by diplomacy and s/r to continue the same 5CC. I want to see if I could do each of them, and its fairly apparent I will. My only one left is conquest (domination isn't an option since 5 cities is the limit). My only decision is which save to reload. I may reload the 1980 save, which will give me ten years to secure a conquest victory before triggering the cultural win. Or, I could go back and reload the 1958 save.

This game has been played on a standard pangea map, which makes conquest much easier in a 5CC, especially w/ MA cranking out at 1 turn per citiy.

Dojoboy, that's pretty wild. I've never played a 5CC, I don't think, and have never won a cultural victory via the 20k route. It seems like your methodical approach to 5CC has resulted in its techniques becoming second nature.
