I have always wondered, but how do they determine as assist in basketball?

If the scorer is of the opinion that the score is "Set up" by the pass, then an assist is scored. If a not, the player is said to have "created his own shot." Basically an assist is when one player finds another in position to score and gets the ball to him. Or her of course.

Oh, it all makes sense now. For awhile i thought some guys just randomly picked plays that earned assists. Thx onejayhawk :goodjob:
