I enjoyed both Syphon Filters greatly and all the Resident Evil games were a lot of fun too. I like playing some violent shooting games once and awhile just to spend some of my excess testosterone.

So what I want is a good recommendation for games in the similar genre. Nothing cheesy now, just the good stuff. http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Also, nothing brand new, I'm hoping to pick up something used at funco or some other used game store.

Well if you have a PSX-owning friend nearby you should both pick up a copy of Doom: special playstation edition and a playstation link cable. Two seperate tv's+ two seperate playstations +one deathmatch game = lotsa swearing http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/wink.gif Anyway I'll look through my plastation encyclopedia and give you some other suggestions later.

iif you want a hack them up game get Nightmare Creatures, Nightmare Creatures 2 is more gruesome but tyhe first one is funner, in NC2 you can chop of monsters head and arms with a huge axe! I think you can also do it in Nightmare creatures 1 http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif
Can't think of any gruesome shooters though.
Oh what i think Parasite Eve is pretty gorey, i remember one part in the beggining this wizard comes into an old theather and sets the whole place on fire roasting everyone!

Yeah, I played Nightmare Creatures 1, and yeah it had some fun stuff, but it isn't exactly what I'm after. (Besides it was too easy!)

I'm looking for something in modern times with modern weapons, preferably some sort of secret agent/soldier type game.

Isn't parasite eve an rpg?

Doom sounds decent.....however I don't really have others to play with me http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/frown.gif

Welll doom is a great FPS by itself. I could never beat DOOM1, i always got to that one room that was filled with all of those huge monsters. DOOM2 is good also.
Parasite Eve is an RPG i think, but it's also a shooter and really fun http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/wink.gif
Hmmmmm, Resident Evil:Survivor is a great RE! It is in DOOM Style with just the hand, awesome! http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif

I like Project Overkill. It's an older game, so I don't know if you'll be able to find it. It's done in a 3/4 view, with lots of shooting and, therefore, lots of killing.

My favourite part of the game is when you walk over a body and your character makes little red footprints! I just think that's a very nice touch.

"Medal of Honor" is good.

I once heard a reviewer call it "the closest thing you'll find to GoldenEye on the Playstation"

I can think of other ways to burn up excess testosteronehttp://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/wink.gif.http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/groucho-marx.gif

But if you can't hack that http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/wink.gif, try out Medal of Honor. Killing Nazi's after a day of hectic driving on the Autobahn always seems to get me back into a good mood. And the game actually has some thinking involved.

I don't know of any good shooters on the PSX or PS2 but don't get Parasite Eve if you are looking for a pure shooter (a good game otherwise). Just get some games for the PC, the best shooter platform. Unreal Tournament is the winner here for the different amount of types of games (CTF, DM, plus others) and it does it all better than Q3 Arena, or Q3 Team Arena can ever hope to do.

Medal of Honor series is great! MoH 1 and 2 are awesome. I saw a preview of MoH3 somewhere. Very cool. Your like in the pacific or something.
The hardest level in MoH is that level near the end with the werewolves. Freaking insane. It has lots of action. Its not really gruesome. But hey it'll fill your cravin http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/wink.gif
