For some reason, when i start a game with the mod enabled, i lose instantly because i have no units. I am quite sure this is a bug related to the new patch, because one of my friends also experiences this.
Has anyone else experienced this?

I have the exact same thing happening to me. Anyone know what can be done to stop this?

I can confirm that this happens in the latest update for Civilization V, with ONLY Thal's balance mod installed (cache and all user settings deleted).
The problem happens with both Thal's beta mod (9.17) and the current release mod.
Steam auto-updated Civ on me, wish I had turned off the auto update setting. I will try removing Civ V and re-installing, and avoiding the latest update.

I talked to 2KGames and there is no way to roll back to a previous version of Civilization. The best you can do is go to Steam->Civilization V->Properties, Settings, changed it to "Do not automatically update", and from now on whenever Civ V has a patch, wait a few days to see if people in the forum encounter problems.
Right now I am re-installing Civ V from scratch, from the CD, with the option to auto-update turned off. I will report back on compatibility with the mod.

Very nice feedback, thevinn, although i think i'm just gonna play vanilla until thal has fixed this. Hopefully there will be a solution to this!

I uninstalled both Civilization V and Steam, reinstalled while keeping the automatic update features off. Steam forced the update anyway. There is no way to avoid it, and once you have the latest update to Civilization, Thal's balance mod will not function.
Currently there is no solution until Thal fixes the mod. The Diplomacy mod works, however.
My advice is to go into steam and change Civilization V game properties to "Do not automatically update", play in Steam offline mode, and when Civ V is updated wait until people in the forum confirm that the balance mod still works. Then update Civ V manually through steam, and make sure the "Do not automatically update" setting stays put (Steam loves to switch it back in a sneaky fashion). Check this setting every time Steam launches your or you run Civ V.
Note that any saved games using Thal's balance mod, will crash the latest update of Civ V. So they are basically wiped out.

FWIW- This bug still occurs for me if I disable the unofficial patch and try to run only the Vanilla Enhanced Mod. I'm not using any other mods.

The mod is incompatible with the latest patch. It will probably be a couple days til there is a working version out.

I've uploaded v9.2.1, which should be compatible with patch 383.
(If you're curious... Firaxis added a "Trait_SpecialistYieldChanges" table for the Korean civilization. I'd previously done so for the Ottomans, and that duplication invalidated the CiVUP core. Information in the core is used for everything else, such as placing start locations, so no players were placed.)
