Are there any fans of the Master of Orion Series? Someone wants to discuss the III release?

I don't know about the series. I have only played MOO2, and I just love that game. By the way, I recently just started to play it again, and I still love it. It is a good feeling when your fleet of space crafts arrives at Anatares, and vipe those insect like creatures from the face of the universe.

I think that MOO is a game that people have under estimated. If you like the Civilization series, you also have to like MOO.

I look foreward for the release of MOO3, and it looks like it will be a very - very - good game if you believe what the official MOO3 web page says - i do believe it. A lot of work has been put into the game, and the end product will be the fruit of the work.

One more thing. It is stupid to put Civilization III and Master of Orion III up against each other. Both games are very similiar, but the thruth is, that they are two very different games, and both can be played. I will defently buy both.

Yea its a great game and Im sure #3 will be great too but for now I will stick with 2.
The only problem with the game is your lack of visual options when you Create your own race!

Ahaha, welcome the club my friend. I'm addicted to MOO. Spend (or lost?) so many, uncountable nights playing it instead of Civ. Great game. As for Civ, I'm also a big fan of MOO 1, which was simpler but also more fun, at least IMO.

I used to play MOO a lot, but haven't in years. What I remember most is the excellent way diplomacy and reputation were handled. You could actually see on a bar graph--if I'm not mistaken--how each individual race viewed you, and if you were to sign an alliance, it would hold no matter your rep with other races. Extremely well done, and simple too.

I still play MOO2, and love it. I hope spaceship combat will be rearranged: in 1 and 2, it was ultimately a matter of building as bigger ships as possible and(with exceptions)to fire all weapons against the target in a storm of rays and missiles. What do you think about the way it's going to be handled in III, though?

Kefka

What they need is something were you can get in and control one of the ships yourself during the combat. http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif

I TOTALLY agree with you. I hope that philosophy extends to the rest of management in the game.

The way it is now I just tend to let the computer design the ships and fight them.
because the battles without it get repetitive and I may sometimes forget an upgrade http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/frown.gif

Btw, I wonder if some of you ever tried this in MOO1?
Well I always conquer and colonize Orion. Of course there's the Guardian to defeat but it's not so hard to do so. Once vanquished you can discover advances, and always get the DEATH RAY. Yeah, a great weapon, I tell you... But I suppose everybody has done that, right?

MOO & MOO2 are just great!
I prefer to use MOO, because I just loooove to make HUGE stacks of fighters (10000),
and use this "death-squad" to kill everyone. In 2, u should control every one of them
separetly, which would... hmm... waste time? http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/dizzy.gif

Killing the Guardian was easy: 3 Titans with 16 Plasma Cannons each. The Guardian does not resist even a single turn. After this, victory is always assured.

I love both games, and have played them both endlessly - And there are several things in MoO2 that I would like to have in Civ - but right now I'm playing Star Trek: Birth of the Federation!!!

A great game that is very similar to MoO2, but with a much better combat system, and better graphics!!!!!

BTW MoO2 should be played with the patch that makes "Creative" cost two extra points, because that is the game winning ability!!!

What's your formula for killing the antarans early in the game? I found a Missile Base can easily overcome a bunch of frigates, but when destroyers begin to appear becomes difficult. Emissions Guidance System kills every ship without Spatial Compressor, and after that you can only send a massive force in hope of killing them all (until reaching Orion, of course).

Beating Antarans in their homeworld is easy, though: 3 Doom Stars with Structural Analyzer, Achilles Targeting Unit, Reinforced Hull(Damper Field if possible)and 2 Stellar Converters in each.

But very funny and true.

On MOO3. not sure if I am goign to purchase the game. The company that is making it doesn't support MOO2 anymore, basically the same way that Civ2 isn't supported anymore, but Civ2 is owned by a company other than Firaxis while MOO2 and MOO3 are owned by the same company, Infogrames. BTW, Infogrames is a stupid name, or does it mean something cooler in a different language?

PaleHorse, aren't too hard concerning the names of companies? Well, it's probably the same for French people looking at strange english sounding names, like Microsoft...
Infogrames in French sounds great, since informatique = computer science and grames = programmes. Guess the rest?

And Kefka, you've just won the Nobel prize for the best joke. 2 Stellar converter. HAHAHAHA. And in addition with High energy focus...

Well that makes sense. Infogrames I can live with the name now. Microsoft is second hand now, but this is what it would mean.
Micro = small
soft = software
Unfortunately Microsoft's software is nowhere close to being small, and if you listen to ppl that use Macintrash and Linux it wouldn't be called software but a virus. :)

Yeah, please no reliving Stella.

Oh, and any news on MOO3? I am too lazy to check out their web site for upadtes, I just check here to see if anyone knows something. I check enough websites as it is.

Hem, to avoid spam, once again I suggest you had a glance at the OT. Nevertheless I'll sum up. It "happened" that he "lost control" of himself...
