Whilst playing PTW as the Carthaginians, I popped my first leader.

I took him to the nearest city, Leptis Major, and brought in three swordsmen to form an army from. However, the build list gave me no option to build an army and there seems to be no other way to get one. The manual gives no real help in this area. Can anyone give me a detailed runthrough of what my problems might be?

Right-click on the Leader. It should give you options including "Hurry Production" and "Create Army".

In the city screen? I only get Activate, Fortify and Disband.

No, on the main map.

If you select the Leader, and right-click, you should see a menu which includes "Create Army". Alternately, when the Leader is selected, you should have a "Create Army" Button among the action buttons.

And, IIRC, you must have a barracks in that city. :)

I'm afraid that didn't work. Those options did not appear for me. Is there a city size requirement?

Can you post a save game? I can look at it in a while when I get home from work. (Or someone else may look at it earlier.)

Edit: BTW you can have a look at the Civ3 FAQ (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=41097) thread for a lot of info. Like the fact I just remembered that you must have 4 cities for each army you create.
