Last night, I was playing a 1x1x MP game with my friend on large world map, 7 civs, emperor level, and raging hordes. I was the Chinese. Things were going quiet well... I discovered Gunpower at around AD 40. Unfortunately, the Mongols sneak attacked one of my new cities and took Gunpowder!!! (The mongols didn't discover Monarchy until mcuch later, it's funny that a despot gov't is able to build Muskeeter)
Even worse, they shared Gunpower with the Russians, the Greek, and one other Civ. My friend played the Aztecs and he got Gunpowder from his Great Library. So by AD 200, all Civs except the Japanese have Gunpowder and were building musketeers.
After Mongols took Gunpower, I was furious... I immediately changed all cities near Mongol territory to produce militray units. I captured the Mongol city Samarkand easily -- they didn't have time to built musketeers yet. The Mongol capital city was built on forest square and it already had 4 musketeers when I got to it. I deployed 9 crusaders and 2 catapults to capture that city. At the end of the fierce battle, only 2 severely injured crusaders remained.
The time is now 350 AD and I have just completed Leonardo's Worksop (Mike Chapel was built at around AD 270). I should complete the Statue of Liberty in a few turns... The world will be mine soon!!!
