This is my first attempt at making a unit, or a 3D model for that matter. Here is the model so far:

I am going to fix it up a bit and add a little more detail to it. I'm not sure how to put Civ-specific colors and make the blasts out of the barrel, if anyone knows, that information would be helpful.

it's so dark the camo is almost indistinguishable

Here is another preview. I made it green again because I don't like how the camo is turning out, maybe I will change it again later.

I have completed the model, now comes the hard part, the animation. Creating the model was surprisingly easy for me.

Well, here is the final model, tell me what you think!

I have started the animation, but it isn't coming out as smooth looking as I hoped, but I am still working on it.

That last preview pic looks awesome. It would definetly fit in along the other civ3 units. I'm looking forward to this :crazyeye:

I've been wanting one of these for a long time. Have you any plans for any other units? A Crusader maybe? Meaning the new replacement for this paladin, not the medieval zealots.

Well, I haven't been able to really start animation yet. I had a major setback. I accidentally deleted the model. However, I've been working on the new model and I think I am finished and I think it looks a little better. Here it is:

Oh, and Nemisis Rex, I really haven't thought too much about another unit yet. I am running low on saves for Rhino so I will probably have to learn a new 3D program. I was thinking of doing a Crusader, but it wouldn't have the resupply tank connected to it. Also, I was thinking about making a better Sherman tank then the one already in Civ3.

I have another problem now with my color palettes. I'm not exactly sure how to change my palettes right for Civ3. The only way I know how to do it would consist of me changing about 150-200 different colors and that would take forever. If anyone knows a simpler way, please help me.

Random Observer, I am using a program called Rhinoceros to make and render the model. Then I use Paint Shop Pro and FLICster to help with the animation.

Well, I finished the attack animation and I decided to post a preview of it. It's not the greatest, but this is my first attempt at a unit. Any errors in this preview, like slow downs and skipping part of the west animation, won't happen in the game, this preview is just something I quickly made in Animation Shop. So here is the preview, I hope you like it.

Looks great.
There is really a need for a Self-propelled Howitzer.
An impressing first unit.
