Is it taboo for newbies to kinda ask for civlopedia texts and the recommended "stats" for the unit?

I don't have any idea what "stats" to simply "make up". If people research and know this stuff, I'd rather trust them. I know I can pick numbers randomly, but it seems so odd, ya know? So, if its not taboo, may I ask?
