View Full Version : Sucession Game #1: Free glocks for all! Spartania Forever!
Cunobelin Of Hippo Sep 01, 2001, 04:15 PM Excerpt from.... HIPPO'S BOOK OF PLANET
PLANETFALL! Eager Spartanian citizens flock into the streets of Sparta Command! The Paranoid Colonel Corazon Santiago watches with glee as her loyal followers grab their uzis, glocks, and 9's and begin shooting up the rugged, rainfall deprived territory. Free ammo is supplied, courtesy of Spartan Ammo Inc.
Mission Year 2101: With Sparta Command firmly established upon Planet, a Scout Rover batallion is dispatched to investigate a nearby Pod Beacon. Surprise! To Santiago's dismay, it is merely a resupply pod worth 25 energy credits. The Rover presses on into the xenofungal unknown....
A promising young Talent by the name of Hippo is promoted to Vice-Colonel, and immediately declares a 25% reduction in price on all imported Bazookas!
Mission Year 2102: Something to appease the intellectuals, and occupy their thoughtful days...Hippo thinks long and hard before ordering the pursuit of Social Psych (B1) that Recreation Commons might shut up the dissenters within, and that maybe, just maybe, the Glorious and Violent Spartainian Federation might uncover the Secrets of the Human Brain first! Take that, Provost!
Mission Year 2103: A minerals pod is uncovered by the valiant Scout Rover, allowing for the completion of a second Scount Patrol unit to defend Sparta Command.
Mission Year 2104: Hippo naps in peace. Weapons sales continue to rise, despite lack of enemies.
Mission Year 2105: Exploration continues as two Scout units ascend a rather large mountain. No volcanic activity here, unfortunately http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/wink.gif. A feasable Base site is discovered by the second Colony pod.
Mission Year 2106: Monolith uncovered! Make sure it's inside the damn radius! Decrees Vice Colonel Hippo, as the colonizers approach their destination.
Mission Year 2107: Heros Waypoint becomes the second Spartanian Base on Planet, just squares away from the Headquarters. To Hippos delight, the trailing Scount Rover uncovers ENERGY resources and an Alien Artifact just miles away from the city centre!
Mission Year 2108: The Spartan Federation makes its first technological breakthrough on Planet! (Unfortunatly, the University made Planet's first breakthrough in 2105) Mind worm aggression in the North marrs an otherwise pleasent year, but the rowdy group of Scout Rovers make quick work of their psych-@$$es, gathering 10 energy credits from husks, and reached VETERAN status! Hippo awards each with a new laserproof vest.
Mission Year 2109: Applied Physics is the FUTURE! Declares Spartan State Radio, after a meandering Scout Patrol uncovers this precious data within a Unity Pod. Not long after this, the station is broadcasting live feed as Colonel Corazon Santiago makes First Contact with Sister Mirian Godwison of the Lord's Believers! The ignorant Believers request Applied Physics in exchange for their world map. Stuff it, declares Santiago! The last thing these fanatics need is new and improved weaponry! A Treaty of Friendship is signed, however, and Borders are established on the West Side of what appears to be the Freshwater Sea. The Artifact is stored in Heros Waypoint.
Mission Year 2110: Another Alien Artifact is uncovered by the valiant Scout Rover.
Mission Year 2111: Centauri Ecology! In all it's terraforming glory. Engineers in Sparta Command propose new units with which to build roads (that we might reach New Jeruselum with greater swiftness, suggests Hippo maliciously). More Mind Worm presence in the Northern Xenofungus, but they are easily disposed of by our Veteran Rover.
Mission Year 2112: Again and again! Everywhere you think Mind Worms are there to disrupt the thought process! The Spartanian Paramilitary Legion dispaches these menaces, so that the citizens might stay safe within their Bases.
Mission Years 2113-2116: The Age of Exploration. Hippo sends troops out in different directions to map the immediate area. Two Colony Pods can be expected within 5 or so years. The Citizens rejoice with a massive 'War Games' day in the streets of Sparta Command. Hippo looks on, and wonders what the future will bring.
spycatcher34 Sep 01, 2001, 04:34 PM Good start hippo!http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/goodwork.gif My prediction on the next turn: The next commander shall bring good infrastructure to the Spartan Empirehttp://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Ah, And now the epic tale continues...

Enkidu Sep 01, 2001, 05:24 PM Better even than the start was the story you put with it - I'm going to have to try quite hard to keep up with that http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/wink.gif
Cunobelin Of Hippo Sep 01, 2001, 06:22 PM Thanks http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif You probably won't have to fill in all the 'white noise' that I did (there isn't much to talk about when you have two units and 10 squares explored http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/wink.gif )
It's in your mailbox, Dreadhead....
dreadhead7 Sep 01, 2001, 09:04 PM Got it, Hippo, and I'm finished. I hand wrote the log notes, so give me a little bit to transcribe.http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif

dreadhead7 Sep 02, 2001, 12:27 AM Exerpt from Viva Spartania
Vice-Colonel Dread. M.Y. 2117-2137
“Well, I’m out of here,” said Vice-Colonel Hippo, as he took one last look around. “You’ve seen the files, and you know where everything is, so carry on, Dread.”
“Yes Sir,” said the new replacement, a short woman whose most striking attribute was her waist-length dreadlocks.
Hippo smiled wryly, and shook his head as he left. “That’s one strange Spartan there,” he thought. “More geek than soldier.” “Can fight like hell, but doesn’t like to.” “She’s got guts, though, which is why Colonel Santiago put her here.” He’d heard the stories about her, how she could kill a mind worm boil single-handedly, and how she’d once calmly pulled a single mind worm out of her hair, then, held it to her face until the last minute, before ripping it two, and flinging it back into the fungus. “Yep,” said Hippo, aloud. “One strange Spartan, indeed….”
2117—Gave orders to send the Alien Artifact to Sparta Command. Scouts exploring North of Hero’s Waypoint reported seeing another Unity pod, but decided to wait before examining it.
2118—Scouts decided to check out the monolith near Hero’s Waypoint. It seems that they can repair worn equipment…
2119—“Mind worm boil just outside,” radioed Sgt. Casarez, from the tower at Hero’s Waypoint. “Got it,” said Dread, who quickly did away with the small boil. The colony pod was ready to go, but Dread decided to wait for an escort, which was on its way. “No use losing folks to the worms”, she thought. “And we’d better get working on a former too, because we need some decent roads around here, and I’m tired of that fungus.” She broke out of her reverie. “Come on, Laird,” she said, nodding at a pretty blonde. “Help me got those planetpearls while the worms are gone.”
2120—“We’re almost ready with the colony pod,” radioed Travis, from Sparta Command. “Give it a little bit.” “When its ready, send it East,” radioed Dread. “The scouts are saying that the high country over there is prime real estate.”
2121--“Repairs are finished here at the monolith,” radioed Sgt. Takahashi, the rover commander. “I’m going to head out with the folks and the colony pod.”
2122—The artifact arrived safely at Sparta Command, and a Unity pod Northwest of Sparta Command was found to contain energy resources.
2123—The colony pod at Sparta Command is ready, and has headed east, as ordered. Sparta Command is now working on a former, so that new roads and farms can be built.
2124—A new base, Hawk of Chiron, is founded! The citizens hold a small celebration, then, set about securing the base.
2125—Hawk of Chiron is secured, and they have decided to build a former so that a road can be built to connect Hawk of Chiron to Hero’s Waypoint, and Sparta Command.
2126—The former is ready at Hero’s Waypoint, and Dread asks the local contactors to began building a Recreation Commons. “After all”, she thought, “we’ve got to keep the folks happy.”
2127—Spartan State Radio announced that a new technology called Information Networks has been discovered, and that scientists are now working on something called Nonlinear Mathematics, which will allow us to build better and stronger weaponry. “Hate to break it to you,” said Dread to the contractors at Hero’s Waypoint. “But I want you to build a Network Node, instead of the Recreation Commons, and I want it to be done as quickly as humanly possible, so I’m going to allocate some funds towards this.” “When we’re finished, we can link that artifact to it, and download the files within, which give information on new technologies.” The contactors grumbled a bit, but Dread promised them that the rec. commons would be built as soon as the Node was finished.
2128—The colony pod from Sparta Command has almost arrived at its destination.
2129—Miriam is again on the LiveLink, which is broadcast throughout Spartania. She wants our files on Centauri Ecology in exchange for her maps. “Yeah”, Dread decides. “I want to know where she is, anyway.” Then, Miriam demands the files on our new tech, Information Networks. “You’d better skip down the Yellow Brick Road to Hades, old bat,” snapped Dread. “Do your own research!” “Well, wheedled Miriam, “Can we sign a Pact of Sisterhood?” “Sister who?” replied Dread. “No, honey, we don’t do pacts around here.” “Good day.” Miriam signed off grumbling something about friendship being a two way street, but Dread paid her no attention.
2130—The colony pod from Sparta Command has safely reached its destination.
2131—Spartan State Radio announced that the Gaians have discovered a new technology known as Secrets of the Human Brain, and that this discovery has stimulated more research. “Darn!” muttered Dread. “Oh, well…”
“I see some mind worms coming up kinda close,” radioed Sgt. Casarez again, from the tower at Hero’s Waypoint. “Yeah, I see,” replied Dread. “I’m going to tell Davis on the former to head back.” “I don’t want any casualties.”
Meanwhile, a new base, Militia Station, has been founded. There’s no time for celebrations, as some of Miriam’s troops are in the area, and it’s decided to secure the base first, and party later.
2132—Militia Station is secured, and the Mayor has decided to build a new colony pod, and send it south, hoping to stop Miriam’s lightening fast expansion.
2133—Hero’s Waypoint is attacked by mind worms, but the scout defends ably, and is promoted to Veteran. Dread gives him a new glock, and an Uzi as a reward.
2134—Construction of the road to Sparta Command has resumed.
2135—Work continues on the road to Sparta Command, and scouts continue to explore the area Northwest of Hawk of Chiron.
2136—The former is ready in Hawk of Chiron, and construction of the road to Hero’s Waypoint has begun.
2137--A new former is ready in Sparta Command, and construction of a road and farms leading to Militia Station has commenced. The contractors have begun work on a new rec. commons.
“Well,” thought Dread, as she began packing her things, and preparing for her new assignment. I haven’t done too badly around here, and it was actually kind of nice. She knew that she’d like this next assignment, because it involved working with mind worms…

Cunobelin Of Hippo Sep 02, 2001, 01:11 AM Great story Dread! I think the various writing styles may well rival the playing styles for variety and 'personal touch'ality. http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif
Good work on the whole 'Protect the colonies' issue. We've so far gone undefeated against mindworms! http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/beerchug.gif It will be key for us to box the Believers in, so that when we do decide to finish off this heavily armed menace, we can attack from all sides without fear of a sneak attack from the back.
Sisterhood? Yeah right! Friendship is a two way street indeed!
spycatcher34 Sep 02, 2001, 08:55 AM Nice job dread! Looke like we're in a good postion to expaned and build up the ol' troops eh?. I dont know much bout sukenis but i have a feeling were gonna runa into another faction next turn. Oh and whoever gets the op. DONT forget to pop boom!

dreadhead7 Sep 02, 2001, 03:31 PM Yes, I think that there is much room for expansion. I do think that some of that expansion should be towards Miriam. She will definately have to be contained and dealt with.
Yep, I think we're going to meet another faction soon, real soon. I wonder who it wil be?

Cunobelin Of Hippo Sep 02, 2001, 03:40 PM Hopefully a 'helpful' faction that we can use to gain some tech (Univ) or maybe some 'lucrative trading arrangements (Morgan) I'd rather not have the Hive to deal with, since we're already tight with an Aggressive faction.
Hey Dreadhead, why don't you post a zipped attachment with your saved game? I'm going to upload some screenshots, but can't figure out how to condense my file.
bvd Sep 02, 2001, 04:55 PM For whenever nobody is left:
SEND IT HERE
It is not my e-mail address, but that of some acquaintance living a few thousand miles away (I have direct access to it).
Time to re-install SMAC...
EDIT: My poor, foreign spelling

dreadhead7 Sep 02, 2001, 11:39 PM Hippo, I take it you mean zip my game files, right? I'm dog tired, so I'm not getting things too correctly. Sukenis e-mailed me to say that he couldn't open the file, or something, and suggested that I zip it, which I did. I should have thought of that anyway, but I did send him a zipped copy of the saved game a few minutes ago, so I hope that everything is ok.
I'm curious, how do you take screenshots? Does that involve using the Print Screen key? I've never done this before, and would be curious to know.
And, yes, I do hope that we meet up with Morgan or the University. The last thing that we need is to run into Yang. Somehow, I have the feeling that we may meet up with Deirdre next.

Cunobelin Of Hippo Sep 03, 2001, 01:42 AM Well, with my computer I press command+shift+3 , but I doubt that's what you're supposed to do http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif Windoze ain't my specialty, but I'm sure someone knows. (feel free to tell us)
Yeah, if you could zip a game file and go 'add attachment' in the posting screen it would be nice for us to see what's happening. I'll try and get some stuff up tomorrow.
dreadhead7 Sep 03, 2001, 01:51 AM Ok, I'll try it. I'll upload the saved game as a zip file, and see how that works. I did check the file attributes, and "archive" was checked, but nothing else. I had no problems opening the file when you sent it to me, but I had saved it directly to the SMAC "save" file, so that all I had to do was start the game and load it.
Hmmm. I just tried to upload the zipped game file, but I got a message saying that I could only upload image files. How do I get around this?

dreadhead7 Sep 07, 2001, 03:09 PM My prediction is that the next Colonel will work on military, infrastructure, and expansion. Hopefully, there will be no war, as we can't yet afford that.

Sukenis Sep 10, 2001, 10:11 AM I just sent to game to bvd. Sorry for the delay, but my home computer is fried. I am hoping it is just the power element, but... I would just replay the game on my work computer, but my boss would not like that too much <img src="smile.gif" border="0"> . bvd Sep 10, 2001, 10:19 PM I downloaded the attachment; thank you, dreadhead7! After freeing barely enough memory, I was able to start SMAC, load the game, and find an interesting predicament: the Spartans are behind only the University in puissance, though are still in the expansionist phase and have contacted only the Believers to the south. I plan on expanding to five more cities, subjugating Believing cities and then uploading the game - all by Friday.
Cunobelin Of Hippo Sep 10, 2001, 11:16 PM Sounds good bvd! I look forward to hearing from you....
Thanks for sorting that out guys... <img src="smile.gif" border="0">
spycatcher34 Sep 14, 2001, 06:00 PM Hey I know with everything goning on <img src="icon9.gif" border="0"> ... But maybe we should start it back up to get our minds off it. <img src="graemlins/GoofyFrown.gif" border="0" alt="[Goofy Frown]" />
Cunobelin Of Hippo Sep 14, 2001, 07:11 PM Yeah, well, I'd give it a few days here. People are in shock/angry/sad, so......
spycatcher34 Sep 14, 2001, 07:21 PM Oh yeah sure <img src="graemlins/blushing.gif" border="0" alt="[Blush]" /> Umm you from US hippo?
bvd Sep 14, 2001, 07:38 PM Well, it's 2196, I possess 15 cities, the Believers have been effaced and the Gaians, situated cozily in the Uranium Flats, are in a very precarious position. With such recent tumult and a very tight schedule, it's been really hard to play. I'll upload it to Enkidu (?) tommorow - somehow.
<img src="graemlins/yeah.gif" border="0" alt="[Yeah]" />
spycatcher34 Sep 14, 2001, 07:53 PM <img src="graemlins/goodwork.gif" border="0" alt="[Good Job]" /> met the gians eh?
bvd Sep 14, 2001, 10:13 PM Meet? No, not quite; I've never bothered communicating with Diedre despite her repeated requests - I went directly to vendetta!
<img src="tongue.gif" border="0">
I've taken four of her cities but only two were of sufficient size to be spared. Her stronghold - two cities in the Uranium Flats - stands, shielded by an insurmountable mass of Garrisons. Don't worry, with the advent of the Missle Launcher (I'm researching Synthetic Fossil Fuels), you'll be able to take them out with infantry.
Anyhow, though I'm not as creative as Hippo, I'll probe a little more deeply into the results of fifty arduous turns:
The Spartans have SOLE access to a large but fungus-covered continent (the Believers, thankfully, terraformed the nice coastal areas). One square across the channel is a shore. If you traverse the entire thing, you find the Gaians.
Due to problems with drones spawned from inefficiency, I invoked Green economics. I don't need populations larger than three, anyway.
I am working on two Secret Projects: the Command Nexus and Empath Guild. I will replace the latter with the Citizens' Defense Force as soon as its available.
My navy is restricted to two Transport Foils. The Gaians are bombarding the coast with a lone Skimship, but it is having no effect.
Around the lake on the main continent are several close cities. Around them, in the former Believing area, is a ring of fungus. If those cities grow too large, their spheres of influence will overlap.
The Spartans are the largest, strongest and most technologically advanced faction on Chiron. Problem is, though there are no more than five urban improvements within my cities, the land is hard to terraform and couldn't build the Weather Paradigm - so I'm having energy problems. Spartan reserves are procured mainly from the spoils of war.
The Gaians verilly have at least two cities out of range to the southeast. They occasionally send across a Synthmetal unit from that direction, the cornerstone of their army. I would’ve acted, but all of my two-move speeders are damaged for the time being.
The Uranium Flats is the key. The Gaians have pre-terraformed it, and I believe that its ready to start pumping out Secret Projects.<br />---
GOOD LUCK, ALL! Reiterating, I will upload it tommorrow.

Cunobelin Of Hippo Sep 14, 2001, 11:10 PM Sounds good....you played quite a few turns there <img src="icon12.gif" border="0"> but if the empire is in as good condition as it sounds then I'm not complaining.
Misille launchers are an invaluable weapon. They'll wreck up Plasma Armour, which is all the AI will have. Hopefully we'll be looking at Air Power in the next little while so as to launch long strikes overseas.

spycatcher34 Sep 20, 2001, 06:50 PM Ah dont worry bout it:)
Enkidu Sep 21, 2001, 01:57 PM Exert from Spartanian Logbook:
2196 - Vice Colonel Enkidu takes over the glorious Spartan empire. In Control of 15 (quite small) cities and first in everythig but economy things aren't looking to bad. Only science (17 turns) needs improvement.
2197 - 2200: Units for the attack on the two discovered gaian cities are being positioned. Attacks on a few lone units - no casualties.
2201: Attack on Lily of the valls - 3 unit destroyed, 1 lost.
2202: Lily of the valls conquered (size 3). Contact with Deidre . She offers two techs and 64 Energy units for peace there is no need for that, as all of that will belong to me anyway in a couple of turns:D. The base Heroes Waypoint is founded
2203: The base Ironbar (translated from german) is founded. Unluckily the colony pod heading for an old believer city site is destroyed by a mind worm.
2204: Attack and conquerage of Gaias Landing. Unfortunatly it schrunk to size 1 and is of not much use for the moment.
2205: A probe team of the peacebringers finds it way into spartanian territory and establsihes contanct. A peace treaty is granted and the communication frequency of the believers is bought (25 energy)
2207: Another base of the gaians (Memory of Earth ) is conquered. Many bases are now building formers instead of military units, as the state of our island is still quite bad, and a large war in the next few years is not likely.
2211: The last Gaian base is found and destroyed; Lady Deidre is taken prisoner.
dreadhead7 Sep 21, 2001, 02:54 PM Wow! Hey, though, I have a question. You said that in M.Y. 2202, Hero's Waypoint was founded. I checked my game log, and as I thought, Hero's Waypoint is a base founded by Vice-Colonel Hippo. I'm confused. Otherwise, you've done quite well, far better than I would have, since I'm a peacenik. Let's hope that the war is over by the time I get the game back.:)
bvd Sep 21, 2001, 04:04 PM Great job, Enkidu! After forwarding it, I resolved to play ‘til the end, and chronologically it seems that you played the immediate 15 turns just as I did, only by sheer luck I lost no unit and finished the Gaians in 2210. Lily of the Valley was a really tough nut to crack.
I must admit, though, I really neglected both research and forming; I acquired <i>all</i> tech through conquest and automated the formers to eschew micromanagement. The population didn't generate enough "trade" to exploit with research improvements. I didn't make out very well..
Bye the way, sorry for playing <i>so</i> many turns. The first ten were uneventful mindworm bouts/colony pod deployment, and it didn't get interesting 'till I traversed the channel. Killing lone, green Believing Scout Patrols with veteran (+) Impact Rovers wasn't very fun...

kittenOFchaos Sep 21, 2001, 04:13 PM I will be doing my turn soon! Looking forward to introducing "The Kitten Volunteers" and the "Bonehead Brigade"! ;)
spycatcher34 Sep 21, 2001, 05:04 PM Now we're smokin! Good job dude!:goodjob:
Your up kitten make us proud!:D
Enkidu Sep 22, 2001, 01:16 AM Yeah I mucked up a bit with the naming the bases. We now have a Hero's Waypoint and a Heroes Waypoint :crazyeyes . Guess the next Colonel will have to sort that out. My excuse for this is that I have the german version, so I translated everything into english.
How can I get the game to you Kitten? I tried e-mailing but it wouldn't allow an attachment
kittenOFchaos Sep 22, 2001, 08:38 AM Bottom of your post reply screen is "ATTACH FILE" do so!
Enkidu Sep 22, 2001, 09:54 AM I had tried that before, but it said the file was too big. Now that I've mastered WinZip it should work.
Cunobelin Of Hippo Sep 22, 2001, 11:27 AM Lookin' good. :goodjob:
Good work with the terraformers, enkidu. Now that we've beaten our neighbours into a pulp, we can focus on internal growth in the interior while still fighting frontier type wars. Land is the key thing.
kittenOFchaos Sep 22, 2001, 08:24 PM PART I: turns 1 to 10
Colonel Santiago of the Spartans
Mission Year 2211
(turn 1)
In the hills and valleys around "Ciudadela Atea" lived the most fearsome Spartan citizens...they refused to serve in the Spartan forces as they had no desire to leave their harsh area of the world unprotected and die in far-off lands.
They planted great forests and pushed back the fungus...they had no road link with the rest of the empire and all trade was conducted by cross-country treks, being remote they could retain great independence.
In 2211 Colonel Santiago appointed Kiavitch head of the Spartan armed forces knowing that if special terms were given that Kiavitch could bring the fearsome outback warriors of "Ciudadela Atea" into the military. Kiavitch was the wife of the governor of "Ciudadela Atea" and their power allowed Santiago access to a huge amount of power by befriending this great family.
Kiavitch called for units formed only of Ateans called the Kitten Volunteers, they would be the best trained and equiped men. "The Kitten Volunteers" -kitten being a nickname for Kiavitch- being formed! A project in "Ciudadela Atea" called the "Command Nexus" was near completion...it would be the training center for the empires best troopers so raising the prestige of the area and its people and the Ateans rose to the challenge. "Ciudadela Atea" killed off their mind-boils to help provide energy for the early completion of the project...
Santiago made negociations with the Peacekeepers and a swap of technology was arranged, the empire gaining polymorphic software allowing probe teams...however we are not considered worthy of a pact.
Kitavitch arranges a landing of troopers close to "UN Soltempel"..."just bring it" was the term used to describe this act politically. Kitavitch closed down all other command centers that would challenge her pet project in "Ciudadela Atea". In "Hero's Waypoint" Kitavitch met with the towns people and arranged with some pioneering fellows to build some military ships that would work on a private contract to seek out our enemies on the seas...these were the first "Privateers" of Alpha Centauri...
Furthermore Kitavitch began the training of Public Defenders (1-1-1 Police) to enforce the laws of the empire and to prevent black-marketeers and criminals ruining the infrastructure of the empire.
Mission Year 2212
(turn 2)
Building projects continue plus exploration.
Mission Year 2213
(turn 3)
"Ciudadela Atea" completes the secret project "The Command Nexus"...
Mission Year 2214
(turn 4)
The Peacekeepers tire of our troopers near "UN Soltempel" and call for our withdrawal as by the terms of the treaty. Santiago refuses this. The U.N probe and take over a damaged unit in the Vale of Planet so named by Spartan geographers! An elite impact rover near "U.N Information Agency" race to the fungus to hide from the U.N forces.
Kitavitch lands 2 trooper units by ship next to the Great Refuge hidden in the fungus.
Explorers discover another alien factor.
Mission Year 2215
(turn 5)
The PK probe our rover...whilst in the west troopers assault the "U.N Great Refuge" destroying to PK units.
In response Kiavitch calls for proper execution of the war...she turn the government to a fundamentalist one...this means that Spartan doctrines will be conducted rigidly...enemy probe teams will find our strong belief in our doctrines hard to overcome and our troopers Zeal is amazing producing in trained troopers automatically elite status (Kitten Volunteers!).
Mission Year 2216
(turn 6)
Another PK unit dies in "U.N Great Refuge" before the base falls to our troopers...we get 2 energy and "Industrial Automation" from the invasion so allowing us "supply crawlers" (Ilove crawling resources from mines!)
We find PK probe teams going across "The Vale of Planet" with our troopers sent from our Gaian based army...we can do this as "Public Defenders" keep the peace! We will try and catch every one of these bastards.
Mission Year 2217
(turn 7)
We target our research towards "Environmental Economics" dreaming of tree farms and better energy exploitation.
Mind-worms near Ironbar destroy some formers...
PK kill half the troopers that took "U.N Great Refuge" that were still in the fungus.
"U.N Planning Authority" builds the secret project called "The Empath Guild".
Mission Year 2218
(turn 8)
We talk to the University and make an alliance with them in return for declaring war on "The Hive".
In the "Vale of Planet" mindworms we provoked into arising out the fungus annihilate U.N troopers whilst in other lands we slay mindworms.
The first "Kitten Volunteer" unit heads to war...whilst all scout patrols are upgraded with special training to become "Public Defenders".
Mission Year 2219
(turn 9)
Our privateers finally complete their ships and head off to look for enemy seabases or merely to bombard from the sea enemy bases or land improvements (roads, farms etc).
In the rest of the world the University lose "Buran Prospect" to the Believers...that is truely bad news.
The PK mind-probers take the Great Refuge...the University talk with us and try to give us PK maps, we refuse and we get them as part of the Pact we have already...talk about trying to sell us the air in our lungs!
Mission Year 2220
(turn 10)
PK try to get peace with us and offer tech when I refuse to give peace...our outrage continues!
"U.N Soltempel is surrounded by mindworms so we send troopers to try and capitalise!
:crazyeyes
kittenOFchaos Sep 22, 2001, 08:25 PM PART II: turns 11-16!
Mission Year 2221
(turn 11)
We take "U.N Soltempel" and in doing so destroy it...we get energy and tech, "optical computers". Mindworms will target our troopers now, but later lose.
"Kitten Volunteers" approach "U.N Planning Authority"...
Santiago forms a treaty with the Morganites whose data frequency we get from the convening of the Council to vote a Planetary Director...Lal won.
Mission Year 2222
(turn 12)
Kitavitch plans the destruction of the PKers...
Worms plague Ironbar and Fort Legion.
The Morganites complete the "Planetary Datalinks".
Mission Year 2223
(turn 13)
"U.N Planning Authority" assaulted causing massive PK losses..."U.N Aid Station" and "Great Refuge" approached from the South.
Great Zion is bombarded by our Privateers...whilst in the west a unit foil we had discovered which had discovered a working unity rover lands the rover to kill a believer infantry unit (gattling) and wins...though pays with its life...next turn the Unity foil finds a operational unity chopper which flies westwards to "Hero's Waypoint".
Mission Year 2224
(turn 14)
2 Fort Legion Public Defenders kill 1 mind-boil and capture another...
Those elite "kitten Volunteers" spearheading the invasion allow "U.N Planning Authority" to fall and we gain "Advanced Military Algorithms" allowing us to taken on "Power" values allowing us better troops and an expansion of support for units at increased industrial cost for units. We also gain the "Empath Guild" whose value is great in allowing us more votes in the council.
In the Council we fail 3:3 to get the U.N charter repealed...when the PK are gone WE can be planet govenor AND can rid ourself of the U.N charter!!
To the west "U.N Great Refuge" is taken and burns down by the act, we get "Superconducter" technology (gattling guns).
Our probe teams stall in "U.N Aid Station" probe team production...a daring mission.
Mission Year 2215
(turn 15)
Our first resource crawling conducted on the mine mineral resoures next to "Hommel Citadel"...7 minerals crawled a turn into the base and workers are moved to the sea to produce food...this practice will allow a great expansion of production at no cost and no need to expand population.
Privateers bombard Believer coast...in the Great Dunes some "kitten Volunteers" land in the fungus in anticipation of an attack!
Kiavitch moves troopers in position to annihilate the PK!
Mission Year 2216
(turn 16...last turn)
Kiavitch avoids removal from office as she calls a state of emergency throughout the empire to finish off the war...Santiago is concerned yet waits...
"Kitten Volunteers" take the U.N Capital and the remaining bases...a complete victory is gained and troops move to occupy cities in force.
A believer city in the Great Dunes is destroyed but isn't taken by a damaged KV unit that had been attacked during the turn interlude...
Kiavitch is given great military awards for her triumph and is retired...the fundamentalist government that she had designed and put forward is replaced by a democracy and Santiage moves to take hold of the reigns more strongly now.
Kiavitch is glad that she wasn't killed as Santiago may have felt she would be usurped by her...however Kiavitch had always acted patriotically and for the good of the empire...this was recognised.
Environmental Economics researched...allowing tree farms amoungst other things...at last our empire can do well from poor land! We target initiative for research which will allow crusiers and a SP that allows +2 movement to ships and a naval facility in all coastal bases.
Mission Year 2217
A NEW LEADER IS APPOINTED HEAD OF THE SPARTAN ARMED FORCES. Kiavitch returns to live in a massive estate afforded by the wealth high office of herself and her husband allowed.
Achievements: destruction of PK...solar collectors etc built to improve empire, resource crawling, 1 project captured, another built and one near completion...A superb army and the beginnings of a navy completed. Our map knowledge is amazing and we have a good pact with the University. Our science has been boosted by conquest and swapping and soon we will be Council Head AND have the most votes.
In short our empire is in brilliant condition and is at least twice as powerful as the nearest rival and in my opinion can easily take them all on and win.
Advise: tree farms are great to build. Our troopers if given training as an extra ability are elite when built so make use of that! We are close to getting the SP of the Citizens Defence Project if energy used (4 turns time probably).
ENJOY! :king:
kittenOFchaos Sep 22, 2001, 08:35 PM How many turns are people supposed to be playing? I played 16...
Cunobelin Of Hippo Sep 22, 2001, 09:45 PM 15-20 turns per player....
I'm gonna play the next turn. Sukenis, if you happen to pop by and think you'll be able to play it this time, let us know :) Otherwise, dreadhead, you're on deck.
...and the X Hippo Speeders roared into action...
Cunobelin Of Hippo Sep 22, 2001, 10:21 PM Part one of the Epic Trilogy...Believer Wars
Oh yeah, they're all over the place. University base falls, zoloto gold falls, as the fanatics continue sweeping north towards my buddy Yang. Hippo, chowing on a Xeno-Bar in Sparta Command, offers and exclusive interview:
Zip Zapper, Spartan Colonist: Hippo, haven't you been saying your prayers lately?
Hippo: No way!
Bam Whammo, Gunman Weekly: Hippo, we've heard rumours of an economic punishment being placed upon the Spartan nation as a result of some despicable base obliteration.
Hippo: Damn rights! They were trying to institute prayers in public schools  So our loyal Kitten Volunteers wrecked up the place. Three places, to be exact. They no longer have a foothold on the coastline.
Shooter Sammy, Military Gazette: Sounds good. How is our diplomatic situation otherwise?
Hippo: Well, I told Morgan where he could shove his ill-gotten energy tokens, and he promised to vote for me. Naturally, I'm now Planetary Governor, and we're introducing some radical new gun laws. I think it'll stimulate the economy.
Moderator: Well that's all for now. Hippo needs to go talk some strategy with the colonel. We'll be back, live, in a short while. :)
Cunobelin Of Hippo Sep 23, 2001, 04:22 PM Part two of my epic trilogy...The Fanatic Strikes Back!
And how! A secret conversation between Major Hippo and Colonel Santiago was leaked just moments ago!
Hippo: They're %$*#ing everywhere! We land our noble Kitten Volunteers, mash up their coastal bases, the works, and then on their turn, I see 20 gatling infantry units slide up next to our new bases! We've had to obliterate yet another base because their units just keep surrounding us!
Santiago: Hippo, you dolt. Attack them! Our Elite units will surely pancake their Greenies.
Hippo: But there's like 20 of them! Even with collateral They'd massacre us next turn.
Santiago: Well I'm getting a lot of flak from the Planetary Council regarding your shameless culling of the believing citizens!
Hippo: Are we or are we not in charge of the Planetary council now?
Santiago: Well yes, but...
Hippo: And in a few more MY's, we can repeal the UN Charter! She's got her armies, but we've hit them badly with only minmal loss of life for our troops. We've got Hippo X Speeders launching from the West Coast of our homeland, ready to take them on from that angle.
Santiago: Well, she's making quite a scene at meetings....
Hippo: Doing what? Handing out Bibles? !lol!
Click.
bvd Sep 23, 2001, 05:45 PM When I continued beyond the year 2196 (I by no means expect to be sent a later version, as I already played fifty turns) , I attacked the Gaians and Peacekeepers concurrently; I landed to obliterate a newly founded PK base, and by 2010, I had vanquished the residual Gaian forces while siezing UN Information Agency, which was defended with a <i>single</i> unit. Not by any means difficult, but I incurred a few losses, unlike Kitten..
It appears that in the Succession Game, either the two transport foils in service were moved north to come under attack by a Gaian Isle of the Deep or Skimship, or their home base was sacked before the naval forces could act and something indigenous attacked. Either way, I was elated to find that the PKs were destroyed despite this.
The University is ill-equipped to handle an attack of any sort, though their bases are loaded with Gattling Infantry (5-3-1). The same is true for the Believers, though they are larger; <i>worlds</i> larger. Anyhow, through serendipity, I was able to attack first at their peninsular headquarters, at... oh, never mind.
---
Great work, Hippo! With only one more conquest, you, Dreadhead and the others can fulfill the Spartan Manifest Destiny! In the end, though I had conquered all other factions, the Spartan continent was still very barren, with no city larger than five. You are much better at empire upkeep than I ever will be…
BTW, what is part III?

Cunobelin Of Hippo Sep 23, 2001, 08:20 PM Ah yes...part three.
Return of the Hippo
Gunnin Gavin, Ironholm Sun: Hippo, what EXACTLY is going on right now? There's almost no word from those on the frontlines and I'm getting concerned that you've decided to go pacifist.
Hippo: Have that man shot...BANG!...But anyway, he's full of crap. I can't say too much, only that incoming Major Dreadhead will have plenty of little toys to play with when she takes the helm. We've got hoardes of elite troops prepareing to board transports on the Eastern Ports near UN Headquarters, but we really need to kick our Scientists into gear and get neural grafting so that we can have both X and Trained in the same unit.
Blastin' Billy Bob, Artillery Monthly: So what are our thinkers up to now?
Hippo: Doctrine, Air Power is the name. Utter destruction through long range assaults of our enemies is the game. We'll get our aerospace complexes in order, then fly over the straight to strike on Believing territory before our Elite Speeders Move in too take territory and Obliterate threatened bases.
Gemby Grenade, Heros Waypoint Weekly: What advice can you offer the incoming regiment?
ippo: Lots. Firstly, we must strive to improve the quality of our interior empire. Energy banks, tree farms, the works. Secondly, we need colony pods and rapid expansion over former Peacekeeping Territory so that we have the base number to launch a meaningful attack on the East. Thirdly, let's strike hard and efficiently so that the Believers are out of our hair while we focus internally.
Shotgun Scotty, Milita Herald: When can loyal Spartanian's download a copy of our current Emperial situation?
Hippo: Soon. It's dinner time, so gimme a break eh? Bon appetit!:king:
spycatcher34 Sep 23, 2001, 08:36 PM Your creativity never cease to amaze me.:goodjob:
Go dread Go Go dread Go!!!!
kittenOFchaos Sep 24, 2001, 06:13 PM Are the kitten volunteers still in action?
spycatcher34 Sep 24, 2001, 06:19 PM Who exactly are the kitten voulenteeres
Cunobelin Of Hippo Sep 24, 2001, 06:23 PM Kitten volunteers...a vicious, yowling, clawing gang of missile launcher toting maniacs in plasma steel armour.
I'll have it up as soon as I get the laptop up and running. Tonight, maybe an hour or so. :)
Cunobelin Of Hippo Sep 26, 2001, 08:01 PM Epilogue
Well, the second reign of Major Hippo has come to a close. In his epic memoirs, soon to be published, he speaks of many things, but seems focused on the future demise of the Believing Faction. "They have forfeited their right to exist," he declares. "Their fanatical and systematic torture of our captured soldiers shall not go unpunished!"
He also speaks of Spartanian accomplishments over the course of his storied career. The Citizens Defense Force, the seizure of 6 Believing bases, and the development of the Hippo X Speeder, which has cost the SPartans some 80 years of economic sanctions!
But the economy stands at 48 Credits per turn, with 11 turns between techs, certainly respectable for such a warmongering people, but more imortantly a massive improvement over what is was in previous years. Undoubtly the Empire-building Corporal Dread will fix up the domestic situation.
He cites a cease-fire with the Hive as his greatest diplomatic accomplishment, giving up nothing but a harsh warning as to what would happen should Yang choose to reject the offer. He also mourns the end of the University Faction, and vows revenge upon the Fanatics responsible!
:king:
Cunobelin Of Hippo Sep 26, 2001, 09:59 PM I was going to post the game here, but it seems my stuffing job is not adequate, so I shall be mailing the game to dread rather than posting it :( Sorry. Hopefully she can put it up for all to see.
Blood Thirst Sep 26, 2001, 10:16 PM Kill those no good Fantics lol!!!!
dreadhead7 Sep 27, 2001, 01:57 PM Got it, Hippo. I'm going to upload your game for all to see...I think it was successful. Now, give me until this evening to do my part for glorious Spartania.:)
dreadhead7 Sep 28, 2001, 01:05 AM Whew, I finished that! I must say that it was exhausting, but fun. A little hint/spoiler: I did my first atrocity ever, but it had to be done. I have to convert my chicken scatch to a legible log, so, give me 'til tomorrow, and I'll upload the game, and tell you all about it. Btw, who does it go to next?
dreadhead7 Sep 28, 2001, 06:57 AM Viva Spartania—2244-2266
Dread studied the logs at Sparta Command, and frowned. “I was having too much fun with my mind worms,” she mused. “That’s why the Colonel sent me back here.” She thought back to Vice-Colonel Hippo’s pep talk, full of admonitions and reassurances. “Don’t worry,” he’d said. “You’ve got some of my troops AND the Kitten Volunteers to help out.” She suddenly stood up, slammed the log shut, and threw it on the desk. “Ya study long, ya study wrong,” she thought. Time to get moving…
2244—Rushed production of Plasma troops in Coming of the Lord. Now, they’ll build Recycling Tanks to gain some extra resources. UN Headquarters has built the first Hippo X Speeder, which is being transported to Coming of the Lord to aid in the battle. The Mayor of Sparta Command has decided to start construction of a sea colony pod so that a base can be established in the Geothermal Shallows. Hive Launch is now building a colony pad. Scouts and brood trainers have discovered some ruins, and within them, a perfect site for a base. Meanwhile, Dread has ordered that farms, forests, and solar collectors be built, as cash is needed.
2245—War is Hell! The fighting around Coming of the Lord is fierce—several valiant Kitten Volunteers have died in combat, and probe teams keep infiltrating the datalinks. After a brief, yet emotional memorial service, the troops rush back into battle, vowing to avenge the Kitties. “Miriam will pay for this,” is the silent promise on everyone’s lips. Meanwhile, since the base has been having Drone riots, Dread asks the Mayor to order construction of a Recreation Commons. “Rush it”, she adds.
2246—Centurion Cave built a sea colony pod, which went out exploring the seas, looking for a suitable place for a base. There were some pods nearby, which yielded 150 energy credits, and another, which yielded enough energy to build the Energy Bank at Ciudadela Altea. The rec. commons at Coming of the Lord has been built, and the fighting continues.
2247—Another pod discovery yields enough energy for Hommel’s Citadel to build its Energy Bank. There is still fighting near Coming of the Lord, Revelation Base, and Great Conclave. More Kitten Volunteers and Hippo X Rovers have arrived to lend support. Meanwhile, Dread has ordered that rec. commons, Children’s Crèches, Network Nodes, and Recycling Tanks be built in various bases. Some have been rushed. Infrastructure is vitally important. Meanwhile, the first sea base, Fleet Anchorage, has been founded in the Freshwater Sea.
2248—Mind Worms have been captured near Hero’s Waypoint, South. The fighting continues, with some battles lost, and some won. Meanwhile, Spartan scientists have discovered Air Power, and Dread immediately sets to building a Missile Penetrator at Coming of the Lord, and several other bases have begun construction of Missile Tacticals. This will surely mean the end for Miriam.
2249—A transport has discovered a pod containing 200 energy credits, while another transport has found an Alien Artifact. It has been sent to UN Headquarters, which has an unlinked Network Node that it can be hooked to.
2250-2252—The fighting continues…
2253—The glorious Spartans have built their first air unit! Indeed, Colonel Santiago has been named Mother of the Spartan Air Corps. Dread immediately begins an attack on Great Conclave, and Revelation base.
2254-2255—Several bases have completed both Missile Penetrators and Missile Tacticals. These are being sent to Coming of the Lord. Meanwhile, the colony pod is ready at Hive Launch, and has been sent, along with a worm escort towards the Ruins.
2256—Morgan has appeared on the Live Link, which is broadcast live to all Spartania. He has asked that we join him in battle against the Hive. Dread gladly declines. “We have enough on our hands now,” she says. Then, Morgan demanded our files on Air Power. “Not happening, Uncle,” snapped Dread. Morgan is so angry that he declares vendetta. “Let him,” said Dread. “If he has sense, he’ll leave us alone.” “If not, he’ll feel my wrath, and he, and that hag, Miriam can compare notes.”
2257—More air power and other troops are on their way to Coming of the Lord.
2258—Revelation Base is destroyed! One for the Kitties!
2259—The troops are on the way to the battle at Coming of the Lord.
2260—More Kitten Volunteers arrive at Coming of the Lord. They are really stoked because of the victory at Revelation Base.
2261—What sweet justice! The Kitties have taken Great Conclave, the bane of Spartan existence. Meanwhile, air units have begun arriving at Coming of the Lord. These enthusiastically join the battle.
2262—A new base, Fort Superiority, has been founded in the middle of The Ruins. After a brief celebration, and a moment of silence for the war dead, the citizens set about securing the base.
2263—Miriam has convened the Council. She wants the UN Charter repealed. The Spartans vote yes, and for the first time, are allowed to use the full force of the Hippo X Rovers.
2264—Forces are amassed near Great Zion.
2265—Woe to Miriam. Great Zion has been destroyed!
2266—Retirement—oh what a joy! It’s been totally exhausting, with lots of death and destruction, but with major victories as well. As Dread packs her things to return to her mind worm labs, she wonders what will happen next. Luckily, Morgan hadn’t bothered with her, but she was sure that the next commander, after finishing off Miriam, would turn their eye towards the North, and Morgie would be sorry…

Cunobelin Of Hippo Sep 28, 2001, 10:07 AM   The peacemonger tastes blood!
Sounds good. I'll have to download it and inspect the fruit of our collective labour after school, but I can't see anything to complain about. We'll have to hit Morgan hard from the air, and STACK UNITS THAT LAND near his bases to overcome his mind-control abilities.
Viva Spartania!
spycatcher34 Sep 28, 2001, 04:24 PM Wow you go people! Doing fine.:D
Whos up next btw????
Lets bash those belivers.
dreadhead7 Sep 29, 2001, 08:15 PM So, who has the game, and how's it going?
kittenOFchaos Oct 02, 2001, 03:39 PM ...great job with the kitties Dread...you use them like a pro! :D
If no-one takes up the game like they should then I will step in...keep the game moving is the key to successful succession games.
dreadhead7 Oct 04, 2001, 12:32 PM Ok, I'm back. My monitor was busted. It's under warranty, so I'm able to get it replaced free. Meanwhile, this one sux, but, hey, its only temporary...
Kitten: Glad you liked how I used the Kitties.:D Btw, has anyone gotten a chance to play?
dreadhead7 Oct 09, 2001, 02:21 PM Oh, folks! Yooo hooo! What happened to our game? Did everyone forget? I realize that some of you are H.S. and college students who need to keep up on your studies (been there, done that, plan to do it again), but maybe after chores, or work, on a Saturday, maybe??:) I've got maybe a week to get in a game before I'm off to San Francisco. Btw, who was next, anyway?
Cunobelin Of Hippo Oct 09, 2001, 08:55 PM Anyone...I ICQ'd kitten to suggest he play now.
dreadhead7 Oct 10, 2001, 01:06 PM That's cool. I hope he'll be able to play soon.:)
kittenOFchaos Oct 10, 2001, 03:19 PM Well I haven't got icq on my university computer...but I check the forums...
I'll be taking the game to my room tonight...either later tonight or tomorrow morning I'll post the results of my reign.
kittenOFchaos Oct 12, 2001, 10:05 AM Well here is the end of my reign save...I'll type up the history later:
Basically I killed off the Believers and modernised the army...most production went into supply crawlers and the economy.
At the end of my 20 turn reign the Hive and Morgan are in GREAT trouble...had morgan not sank one of my transport ships he would be reduced to seabases...but he did :o
dreadhead7 Oct 12, 2001, 10:25 AM Cool! Who's next? Hippo?
spycatcher34 Oct 12, 2001, 06:54 PM Bye Bye belivers! Alright go kitty!:egypt:
kittenOFchaos Oct 13, 2001, 12:54 AM 2267 (1)
Kitten comes to power...an adopted daughter of Santiago who chose to re-name herself Kitten in honour of the KV unit that saved her from the ruins of a village over-run by mindworms in the "Vale of Planet"...The villagers were of Gaian origin, and it is not know exactly why Santiago chose this child...rumour says she was a daughter of Dee, and that she felt guilty of having orphaned the child, but their is not proof of this in the public domain. But it is strange that a KV unit would be in the "Vale of Planet after the PK war it being so far from the front lines.
So Santiago has a successor in line should anything go wrong...but she must be worthy to rule or else the senate of this great Democracy won't accept her as "President for life" should Santiago die.
The next President for life: we shall see! :queen:
Kitten pronounces her plan: to improve the economy by limiting the military to additional airunits and specialist units...upgrading of present obsolete formations will provide more Hippo and KV units to defeat the foe. In addition supply crawling and comprehensive "children creches" and "recycling vats" will improve productivity. If we pursue these plans then I'm sure we will soon have our foes beaten and our people praising their government for improvements at home.
Kitten sends the airforce to destroy Believer sensor arrays to allow later use of airforce over Believer territory NOT to be hampered by the benefits their sensor arrays confer to their air defence...shocked that this hadn't been done before now!
KV units supported by Hippos and airforce units surplus to the destruction of sensor arrays allows "Redemption Base" to be taken...we nerve staple the inhabitants to ensure peace and proceed to equip "Public Defender" units to police the city. We have to extend nerve stapling to "U.N Information Agency" AND "The Coming of the Lord"...Kitten orders the training of more PDs to police the restless population.
Upgrading of the military brings our KV units to number 6...firms constructing our airforce are told to build less fighters and more bombers as no airforce has hampered our operations to date and we have plenty of fighters.
Our planners conceive of an "Elite Troop Transport" unit...although expensive Santiago wamr of the idea that her best troops could be transported more quickly and safely across the waves...more than anything else it will be a symbol of Spartan power! :rocket:
The Dreadhead Spyforce report that "Morgan Industries" has 4 Secret Projects and is in construction of another...we will target this city as we are at war with Morgan and this city is obviously a source of his power :fish:
NEWSFLASH: HIVE TAKE ZOLOTO GOLD FROM THE BELIEVERS
2268 (2)
Scientists studying Superstring Theory make it worthwhile by developing chaos guns! The KV and Hippo units will be upgraded as soon as possible and our airforce will produce planes with this new technology onboard. We target efforts to get something worthwhile from the idea of Pre-Sentient Apparatus or some such non-sense!
S-array bombing continues...
Hommel's Citadel is now producing a massive 25 mineral units a year due to supply crawling of minerals near Sparta Command!
A unity pod provides 200 energy credits
At great cost the airforce is bought a brand-new "Chaos Penetrator" unit to aid the bomber wing.
2269 (3)
Kitten uses large sums of money to buy a "Mobile Airbase Construction Team" that can build an airbase to allow bombing of Morgan territory from the North of the Believer continent.
Hippo rover units not using gas devastates Believer forces in "Children of God"...the compassion of the Hippo troopers for the civilians (that would get gassed too) puts their lives at risk to do so as the Believer army fights on.
Sanctity Base defenders cause massive airloses...Kitten points out the loses were in SAM planes and that her bombers will not have any such problem...on asking why she had used these planes then she replied..."Better for them to fight than lie idle!" and "It is their first set-back...this city must be blessed by god..."
2270 (4)
Hive and Morgan talk and Hive are convinced by Morgan to ally with him and make war upon us...surely the Believers our enough for him to contend with never mind us...he will only bring destruction upon himself and his drones.
Planet activity increases as we enter Perlihelion or some such nonsense...we have Trance units well equiped to deal with this says Kitten.
The "Elite Troop Transport" is bought at great expense in Sparta Command.
Hippo Rovers seizes the base of "Children of God" outrunning in their rovers the keen KV units...N-stapling and P-defender procedures taken in the new base even before the last of the fighting is over.
Advancing onwards half the Hippo Rovers in the Believer continent are wiped out in a foolhardy attack on the massive "University Base" (which is in Believer hands). Not wanting to damage the value of the city they hadn't used gas...a mistake if Hippo Rover Crews are considered important to the Nation. In revenge Zarga Sume is attacked by the other Hippo unit with gas.
Unity pods bring in more energy from one hell of a successful expedition by a transport in the Southern Ocean near Mount Planet.
2271 (5)
KV units destroy Zarga Sume allowing the Hippo Rovers to disengage from this theatre and take University Base supported as alway by the airforce...the rovers move along the roads eastwards gassing large numbers of Believer troops.
2272 (6)
Believer rovers and numerous Hive troopers are gassed whilst the KV is renamed as they are re-equiped with chaos weaponary to "Chaos Kittens"...or the "CK".
Hive and Believer forces facing off in the fungus ridden rivers on the Believer north frontier are bombed by our airforce...we weren't invited to their battle but we came anyway :)
2273 (7)
Two "Chaos Kitten" units supported by Hippo units and an old KV unit seize Baikour and with it the Virtual World...these troops will rest here before going onwards! It is strange to relate that 3 ground units of about 5 starting since Kitten launched her offensive remain and they have taken 6 bases...the airforce allows such dominance by small forces not to mention these troops are elite and equiped with the best weaponary money can buy -true to Spartan military principles.
2274 (8)
The hardy defenders of Sanctity Base face the Chaos Penetrators and lose badly...revenge is sweet.
The supply crawlers our finding it hard to find worthwhile land to extract resources from...we need more formers!
2275 (9)
To the NE of Eurytion Bay SW of the airbase construction another "Mobile Airbase Construction Team" releases from a unity pod a large number of boils...luckily they get back onto a transport ship...the airforce is flown in to protect the airbase construction as it has taken long enough never mind it being ruined near to completion (well as soon as the other team gets there it will be soon).
True to form the airforce saves the day...but in bombing one set of boils it only makes the others more developed as Planet reacts to the attack on her minions...Kitten knows that if she succeeds in bombing them without loss the gains by way of planetpearls will have main this event fortuitous...and as larger boils and especially demons produce more pearls more bombing to encourage planet to send her nastiest and largest creations is keenly advanced.
From this energy source more KV units are upgraded to "Chaos Kittens".
Hive probe teams destroy a network node at Balkour...many researchers will be called up as they serve no function without a network node and we need more P.D too enforce the peace.
Other researchers develop a use for "Pre-sentient Algorithms"...we target research towards the application of fusion power.
2276 (10)
The Hive capture one of our most successful "Chaos Kitten" units...an team of experts recommend we train an elite probe team to re-capture these forces obviously by now brain-washed to obey the orders of Yang!
2277 (11)
The airforce allows Hippo rovers an easy drive into Zoloto Gold...:p
2278 (12)
"Next-Gen-Hippos" are developed...they are armed with gas and chaos weaponary...at great expense we upgrade 4 "Hippo-X-Rovers" to be "Next-Gen-Hippos"...on the Sunny Mesa the remaining "Chaos Kitten" forces face-off with alot of Hive units...
Dreadhead Spies report the captured "Chaos Kittens" have been brain-washed and are at present re-arming and repairing in Socialism Tunnels.
A probe team designed for rescuing the "Chaos Kittens" will be equiped with deep radar to loacte the "CK" unit and has armour to withstand any assault whilst in enemy territory...only the cost of this unit delays the rescue of the "CK" unit.
END OF PART I
kittenOFchaos Oct 13, 2001, 12:56 AM 2279 (13)
The airbase in the north is completed with workteams now building sensor arrays to protect the airbase against sneak attacks. :satan:
"Next-Gen-Hippo" rovers take Burran Prospect after airunits soften the target and move into the Great Dunes killing Believer missile troops in doing so.
2280 (14)
Believer probe teams steal "Intellectual Integrity" from us...BOY they need it! not only to help in their war but more so they learn that stealin' tech is WRONG! :spank:
Believer missile troopers destroy many aircraft left unguarded in Burran Prospect..the base would have fallen but for news that in the south Sanctity Base had fallen and with it the Believer empire!!! A certain red-head is put in a certain chamber and makes a certain sound!
Such Hippo triumph was in constrast to a disaster for "Chaos Kitten" pride as the airforce "accidently" bomb the captured "CK" unit to dust...some CK commanders believe that it was no accident but that Santiago and Kitten feared that the CK unit could attack and take Balkour...(that rumour is VERY false, I was close to tears!) [punch]
The Hive have the cheak to steal "gene splicing" technology from us...
2281 (15)
An air-raid on "Morgan Industries" is repulsed...
The Public Defenders supported by air units take "Stadt der something!" from the Hive and immediately police the city in a way Hive drones take as the norm! Nerve-stapling and arrests of troublemakers... :rocket2:
Airbase launches fighters versus the Hive and Morgan airforce which succeed in only killing one airbase contruction team.
2282 (16)
Bringing some new units forwrd for invasion of Morganite territory...plus the usual economic bimplings...
2283 (17)
We develop fusion reactors for our units...expensive upgrades deplete our massive energy stockpile to a mere 70!
"Chaos Kittens" take Socialism Tunnels site of the brain-washing of the most successful KV/CK unit...only strong orders prevent the base from being levelled by the bezerk kitties.
In the East Morgan captures a supply crawler in the huge fungal matts near the fungal area called "The Ruins"...the airforce counters this invasion of probe teams and missile troopers.
We design "Sea to Sky Gunboats" and "Deep Throat APCs" to:
1. seek out and destroy airunits from a naval platform which unlike fighters doesn't require a relatively near base and so can operate far from our empire.
2. To transport troops into enemy territory and using deep radar spot targets before releasing the troops that can then use their full movement (2 as our troops are all elite) to move one "square" then attack the enemy...so effectively boosting movement of troops and their ability to find targets even if their is fungus!
Another disaster as the Morganite airforce sinks a transport with at "Next-Gen-Hippo" and "CK" unit aboard...
2284 (18) :hammer:
"CK" units take Morgan Industries after an airraid by several bombers and we gain in doing so 5 SPs AND Advanced Ecological Engineering.
2285 (19)
We complete the construction of the "Maritime Control Center"...whilst our forces in Morgan territory make further gains and try to hold onto our position despite having VERY few troops due to the sinking of that transport in 2283 and the general lack of production devoted to the army for the last 19 years...However the well trained and equiped and numerous airforce fight like heroes to hold the position versus the massive Morganite airforce (well...it WAS massive!)
2286 (20)
Hippo Rovers destroy "Morgan Transport" (I think that hole in the ground was called that...hehe)...our forces cling on desperately in Morgan Territory whilst our airforce does a huge amount of work destroying Morganite forces that are attempting to dislodge us
Elsewhere the Hive our forced down to 3 bases and these will be doomed in 4-5 years of combat!
2287 (NEXT PERSON!)
Kitten is awarded the right to be "President for life" should she survive and should she be the best candidate...Hippos and Dreadhead will be preening themselves just as much for power should Santiago die as Kitten...and Santiago wants to see them show their skillz now!
Summary of my 20 turn reign:
1. Defeated Believers...
2. Morgan will last more than 4-5 turns so the Hive will die before Morgan.
3. The military is under-invested in...I did not commit much to the army/navy outside of energy reserves...production was centered upon the airforce and the economy.
4. We have plenty of troops still to be turned to fusion reactors...
5. The empire is in good shape...no major economic, environmental or military problems and we can probably conquer the whole of planet within 20 years if we are so inclined and depending on whether we construct a naval vessel capable of taking hold of Morgan seabases once our airforce has obliterated the defenders.
:ak47: :nuke:
dreadhead7 Oct 13, 2001, 01:21 AM Wow, you go, Kitten, you whooped major booty!:D:D:D Love that Dreadhead Spyforce!
We definately have to work on a navy to get rid of Morgie.
spycatcher34 Oct 13, 2001, 09:10 AM Wow those were nasty little belivers fighting till the end.
Thats good to hear about (*spit*)"yang"(*spit*)
Yeah drea i liked the use of the prob teams. Too bad we lost that unit because a certain someBODY! destroued it. ;) :p
To whoevers next: I think you should get morgan industry first. Then take care of yang. In doing this you will have control of all the SPs and im sure a good economic stronghold to pay for any upgrades.
Who next???
Cunobelin Of Hippo Oct 13, 2001, 02:22 PM Power to the 'X'! :D
Hippo is particularly fond of naval combat and promises to launch an imposing fleet within days. Morgan caught counting his ill-gotten energy tokens on Spy-TV! Planet is in shock! ;)
Cunobelin Of Hippo Oct 28, 2001, 02:54 PM Victory at last! Across Spartania weapons discharged with glee! It took a mere five turns to bring the remaining bases to their knees. I would've bargained with them...but sunspot activity denied such activities ;)
Timeline:
1.MAJOR ACTION ON THE MILITARY FRONT! THE HIVE IS CLAIMED, and the Morgan's are bombed left and right.
2288:Sensor Arrays deep in Hive territory are bombed! Seized Morgan Collections!
2289: Seized Morgan Studios!
2290: Yang is interrogated! Huge wealth being generated by cities preparing for the end. Morgan is off the continent and in the water. I'd negotiate, but sunspot activity prevents such things.
2291:Mind worms attack supply transports! Resarching orbital spaceflight. Morgan Hydrochemical seized...then another one....one ocean city left for morgan. Conquest victory on horizons.
Everything I ever wanted to kow I learned in the cloning vats.
Final score to follow...I'll get some screenshots hopefully...
spycatcher34 Oct 28, 2001, 03:08 PM Mwhhhahahahah! Good job everybody! *chants* WE WANT SCREENSHOTS! WE WANT SCREENSHOTS!!!!!
Death to the hive!!!!!!

dreadhead7 Oct 30, 2001, 01:41 PM Just got back from San Francisco today. Whoa there Hippo, did you say that the game is over?!? As in victory?!? As in done deal?!? Wow, cool, but, awwww, I missed it! Hey, are you going to give us a screenshot? Can we do another sometime? Viva Spartania, baby!!!
kittenOFchaos Jun 16, 2002, 02:45 PM Bumped to show people what a SMAC succession game looks like :)
May aswell post a symbol of our conquest victory :)
