NOTE: This is meant to be a serious experiment in the area of creating and running a virtual country.

Welcome one and all to the official page of...

-Mundistan
-Mundicivistan

... Well we'll choose the name eventually.

The purpose of this experiment, inspired by Wirtland (http://www.wirtland.com/)[1], is to see if we can build and sustain for a period of time (undetermined) a sovereign virtual nation. For more info on the concept, check out the Wirtland site.

I will be creating a separate site for this, and that is where we will begin.

Now, the process is simple. I am looking for applicants to be members of this new nation. If you want to join, please say so as well as saying you country of current residence.

The next step will be to hold a constitutional convention, in which, we will write a constitution for our little nation[2]. After that, we will... well... be a country.

So please, if you have any suggestions/ideas/comments, post them!

Also remember that, while this experiment is serious, it is not as serious as Wirtland, and as such does not require a large time commitment, even if you want to be politically active.

Any takers?

[1] Which I will, in fact, be applying for citizenship in.
[2] This is where country of residence comes in. We will use that to elect representatives for each country with a certain number of people.

Ex.

I'm interested in joining. My current country of residence is the USA.

'Twas. And it is now posted here as well. I wanted to get as large a membership base as possible, and you have to remember that not all CFCers (a majority, in fact) dont have an AH.com account or dont check it that often. Besides, I wanted to avoid the "Althistoria Syndrome."

Of interest is the fact that the system for writing the Constitution may be changed. At the moment there is a large fight over whether it should be based on physical location, groups formed by the users, or just have everyone be their own delegate. Want to weigh in on anything?

I have decided on the name of our little nation. It will be Mundicivistan. In a mix of Latin and another language I can't remember the name of, this means "Land of the World/Global Citizens."

Oh, and I have the forum for us up: http://mundicivistan.forumotion.com/

Go over there, register, and we'll begin the constitutional process.

A virtual country seems purposeless as it would be incapable of provide security to its subjects. This is the core function of a state.

Maybe they could come up with their own anti-virus program.
