Approx. one year following the collapse of the USSR and the descent of the world into chaos, the warlord, Tanik Sadik, rose from the ashes of the small town of Batman, in what used to be the Republic of Turkey. In the year since the Fall, he had assumed control of Batman and had trained its beleagured inhabitants into soldiers. Marching his army across Anatolia, they quick seized control of the nation; unfortunately, raiders from the east descended upon the eastern half, and it was soon out of their grip. Wary to venture into barbarian-infested lands, the now-Caliph Sadik marched his armies into Greece. The semblance of government that remained, which was on the eastern coastline, surrendered immediately.
Tragedy struck in 1995. Sadik lost a long, drawn out battle with testicular cancer and perished, on the 25th of March. Sensing a chance to become free of the Turk yolk, the Greeks rebelled. Unfortunately, they were crushed by Turkish General Emir Değirmenci. Değirmenci, knowing that utterly crushing and humiliating the Greeks would only brew more rebel sympathy, the now leader of Greece offered dual Greek-Turkish rulership over the nation, and began elections; the first Turkish prime minister was Cem Yılmaz and the first Greek prime minister was Iason Metaxas. Ruling benevolently and strong, with socialist tendencies, they reformed the nascent Greco-Turkish economy into one of a socialist structure... and now the year of 1998 dawns on our beleagured people.

History: After the collapse of West German authority during the chaos caused by the near-collapse of the Soviet Union, the various states of south Germany reasserted their independence; in one of these states- Niederbayern- a charismatic man by the name of Streiter Wernher rose to power. Using his natural talent with words & magnetic personality, he was able to sieze control of the city of Landshut and declare himself King of Lower Bavaria. He spent much of the next year gathering allies & spreading feelings of Bavarian nationalism throughout his realm; in 1992, with widespread popular suport & the aid of the states of Tyrol & Salzburg-Kärnten, he invaded the neighboring country of Oberbayern. The fighting was swift but brutal, and in 1993 Oderbayern was partioned between Niederbayern & her allies.

6 months later, citing a comment made by the leader of the Primorskan Republic as a pretext for war, Niederbayern & her allies invaded the country. Once again, the forces of the Niederbayerner Alliance were victorious, and the Primorskan Republic was partioned betweenn the three allies, with Gorenjska going to Tyrol, Notranjska going to Salzburg-Kärnten, and Primosrka proper going to Niederbayern. The Niederbayerner Alliance was now one of the more powerful power blocks in Central/Southern Europe, with much of Southern Germany, Austria, & Western Slovenia under their control. In 1995, the Republic of Lombardia approached the Niederbayerner alliance with an offer they could not refuse: Lombardia will join their alliance, which would then invade the various North Italian States. Two months later, they were ready to stike, & launched a coordinated assualt upon the states of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Venetia, Trentino-Alto Adige, & Emilia-Romagna. The fighting lasted a year & a half, and at times it seemed the Niederbayerner Alliance would taste the bitterness of defeat, but in the end, they triumphed; Lombardia took the states of Venetia & Emilia-Romagna, Tyrol took Trentino-Alto Adige, & Friuli-Venezia Giulia was split between Niederbayern & Salzburg-Kärnten.

The relationship between the members of the Niederbayerner Alliance was now very close, and in order to better secure themselves from foriegn aggression they convened in the city of Venice to discuss the possibility of forming a Unified Nation. The talks carried on for four months, during which the representatives proposed & discarded a number of possibilities; eventually, they settled on a revived Holy Roman Empire, feeling that such a nation would promote national unity much better than the Bavarian, Austrian, & Italian centric nations that had previously been proposed. Streiter Wernher, being the only monarch in the Niederbayerner Alliance, became Emperor by default, with the position intended as nothing more than a figurehead. The leaders of Lombardia, Tyrol, & Salzburg-Kärnten underestimated the cunning of the new Emperor, however, and through the careful manipulation of Parliament & with the support of the Catholic Church, he was able to secure near-absolute power for himself. Now the Emperor has consolidated his hold upon his new Empire, and is beginning to look beyond his borders once more...

History:
Very unstable country, formed when massive immigrants from northern Africa living in poor living conditions in the south of Spain, and inspired by local radical religious Muslim leaders revolted against the government and overthrew it in most of the lands formerly part of Al-Andalus. Most population, though, is Roman Catholic, and they don't see with good eyes their new government, so civilian unrest is high, but the former government is far too shocked to react, and the new country has seen it's position solidify by the signing of treaties with many countries in northern Africa and the Middle East.

One of the top generals in China, General Yin She posed a threat since he had a large following, and believed in a much harsher Communism than Chairman Mao. Mao attempted to assassinate Yin, but he managed to escape along with many of his officers. He and his officers and soldiers sailed south to escape the Chairman. They sailed to Australia and invaded New South Wales. Now, another Chinese Communist state exists, this time in Australia, known as the People's Republic of Aozhou, or PRA. The goal of the PRA is to gain enough strength to return to China.

When the ships stopped coming into port, the way of life the people had grown accustomed to collapsed. Riots and protests erupted everywhere, and communist insurgents used the chaos to subvert the democratic government in Seoul. The North fared just as badly. With their communist allies gone, the Hermit Kingdom withdrew further into its shell, maniacally preparing for the perceived invasion from the south. The result was the North Korean Famine of 1992-'94, in which an estimated 4.3 million citizens perished. Fed up with the mismanagement that plagued the government, several officers launched a coup to remove Kim Il-Sing from power. However, in a repetition of a deadly July morning in the early 20th century, the entire family of Kim Il-Sung was slaughtered alongside him, leaving a power vacuum which soon dissolved into all out war.

In the year 1996, an historic event occurred that would change the fate of the Korean people forever. General Kyung Sung Yu of the People's Republic of Korea and General Haneul Seok Rhee of the Republic of Korea met together in the Joint Security Area to with a simple goal in mind; to reunite the two halves of Korea. Many officers on both sides of the DMZ had long grown disillusioned with their prospective governments. It now seemed that the only way to save Korea was to unite together under one banner. With a few signatures, they broke free from their previous loyalties and joined together with renewed purposed. Once those who still clung foolishly to the old powers were purged, the armies of the North and South turned and marched outwards from the heart of Korea.

The year is now 1998. two years after that historic arrangement. The General Secretary, Central Committee, and the Supreme People's Assembly of the PRK have fled north of Yula River, while the President, Joint Chiefs of Staff, and National Assembly of the RoK cluster around Pusan, trying desperately to flee to anywhere of the peninsula. The URK continues to march forwards, with the sight of unificationb within their grasp.

The army was split, as it struggled to root the Tibetians from their mountainous strongholds and fought Taiwan at the same time. Despite government propoganda that Taiwan resisted little, the fighting there was heavy, due to US support for the island. Tibet though turned into a nightmare for the Chinese army. Every rock and every mountain pass was easily defensible, allowing the freedom fighters to hold on to every inch. But the finall blow came from within. Hundreds of people rallied in the streets demanding higher wages and better working conditions in factories that were built to salvage the war in Tibet. The Chinese government opened fire. Major rebelion broke out. The rebels soon bought weapons from a certain Nuka, allowing them to overthrow the opressive government. While the PRC was rebuilt by a general in the South, refugees from Taiwan joined the rebel state. The Republic of Nationalist China was made.

While the newly found kingdom was doing pretty well, the younger one decides that it was time to expand the occupation a bit more. With the continued oppression of the gringos, it wasn't too difficult to convince the natives to join in. Some of them were even eager to join in with the cause once it was presented to them.

Nuka would raise two solid squadrons of troops. the 1st would be deployed at the capital city itself, and primarily used for gaurding the King.
the 2nd squadron would be handed over to Apu Qillaq Qaunnah, a long time associate of the king, who knew these regions like the back of his hand.

There are things called social groups and private messaging for diplomacy. Players are free to create a diplomacy social group, if they wish. Unless I see that a lot of players are constantly hitting the 150,000 character limit that five posts would impose (that's about 30,000 average sized words, or half a novel every update), I don't see the need for spam.

But I understand how being only able to write 30,000 words over the course of two or three days can be considered limiting in some respects to anyone who types up 15,000 words a day (or about 700 words an hour, assuming that the dedicated dwarf in question is somehow substituting all his or her needs with just alcohol).

In any case, the USE will be NPC'd.

OOC: Spam is pretty much the essance of IOT. Love it, hate it, create it, but most things in IOT only work with several pages of spam before it. Spam also helps keep an IOT alive through pauses and facilitates diplomacy. Social Groups annoy me as they require you to remember to check more things. If you forget, you may get "Well, we in the SG agreed unanimously not to expand there. You did, so now, 1000 nations will destroy you in a massive foregin intervention!". I am considering joining the walk out, but I want to give some time for a more resonable solution than 5 post limiting (or character limiting, since it is even worse as it victimizes large RP posts, without adressing the worst of the spam, one-liners like "Cheese!" which, I agree are a waste of bandwith.

2.) You could start taking back South Africa as long as you start with the coast and work your way in.
3.) Your current claims are fine.
4.) No, but you're allowed to claim more each turn at a rate of 5x with x being the turn number. So, next turn you can claim 10 territories, the next turn 15, and so on.

Adriaan Vlok was not having a good day.

It had taken him spare change past five years to move the better part of one million South Africans to India. Everything had been taken, from a daughter's doll to a mother's masquera. Ten percent of the population of a nation- along with a few select Africans- had been shipped to a new, hostile continent with barely a hitch. He was a hero; that was the only explanation for the statue raised in a square not a mile from his office. So why couldn't his heroism complete a simpler task?

Five years to bring a nation's worth of people and their belongings to a new land. Five years to conquer a coastline the size of their previous home. A little over a year of consolidating that claim. So why, for the love of Christ, couldn't he make his men march?

It was taking his men longer to take less land, from a solid base, then it was when they had to fight as marines! They now had a new underclass, new industry, wives who were not trapped across a sea but rather a few poor miles from hostile bullets! Why wouldn't they capture objectives?

It was time for change. Looking down at his desk, Vlok reassured himself that his plans were solid. He would take more land after this expedition then they had in the previous near-decade. And they would do it quickly.

He let himself smile.
