Not sure if anyone has managed to get Mines and Roads to be built on Ocean, sea and coast squares yet but with a bit of fiddling on my part I've managed to do it.

It all started when I created a new Sea Oil strategic resource and needed a way to link it to my city. I got the resource to work and then edited the galley unit to be able to build roads, mines and irrigation on sea squares.

All I had to do then was edit the terraform info for the Ocean, sea and coast squares. (Set terrain bonuses to any number above 0.)

This setup actually works quite well not sure how the AI will use it have to test it more :).

All thats needed now is to edit the road pics so that they look like the adv roads from CTP or mabey add a pipeline to the side of the road.

Also add build city tag to the terrain not sure if its needed but I have it tagged.

:)

Good idea !
Post a comment about AI using it ! It can be very interesting.
I'm not tempted to mod galleys and other ships to build raods, but we could have a specific new sea unit having this capability.

This could really put an additional stratagic interest to the game.
Nice try !

Hmmm... do boats get the movement bonus given by roads?

Like the idea :)

the Ai Cannot use the new changes.

AI = Cluless :)

Anyways this idea only has possibilities for MP and some for SP if you want to cheat.

wish they would allow more customisation for land and terrain types also sea cities would be a great addition.

back to the chalk board for me

Yeh I've done it before - the problem being that you still cannot transport units across (or at least you couldn't last time I looked).

Will land units be able to cross using the roads?

If so, that's quite useful, as you could simply call it a "Bridge" (if that's possible)

No, they cannot

BUT I do think that the roads could be used as an alternate trade ruit(SP?), thus meaning you don't need to make harbours to connect to trade routs. This may prevent lagging. And i say may...
