Just lost a game on medium due to another race winning the Senate vote on turn 183. :ack: Which pissed me off quite a bit since I had at that point a clear lead over everybody, but had contact with only 3 races. It's hard to be a Harvester. :(
So I was wondering - how do you become a Senate member if you don't start as one? Suck up on everybody and cross you fingers/tentacles/other they eventually bring you into the Senate?

If you donīt want quick victories, switch the Senate win off. It really is not balanced compared to both other options. Also itīs kind of dumb that when you are not in the senate you still lose if someone wins there. It should be like in MoO2, where all senate members unite and then fight against you as one race (and against all other non-senate members). :mischief:
I also play harvester right now, but after 20 or 30 turns, everybody was in constant war with me, so entering the senate is not really an option.
If you want to become a senate member with another race, you can just appease yourself with members so that they try to bring you into the senate. I have no idea how well this works, but you got to be pretty friendly with several races.

I was reading about this on another forum. Seems as though it can happen but you have to be pretty lucky. As the post commented when you are in the senate you see motions to add another race to the senate very rarely, even more rarely are they seconded, and rarer still is there are majority vote that allows that race in.
I agree entirely about shutting off the Senate win option :)
I think it comes down if you want to be in the Senate pay the 10 points or keep restarted until you randomly start in it.

Power in the Senate - is power in deed
Ever heard the old adage
"If a rottweiler is chasing you and your best friend you don't have to be faster than the rottweiler just faster than your best friend"
So a senate member is only as strong as his own voting power - it is never certain who will vote for who but you will always know that NOrions will vote themselves and the lead votee will do the same..
So if you have MORE votes than anyone else in the senate combined but less than the New Orions, it is very doubtful you will be elected but it is highly likely as long as u vote for New Orions that the opponent wont be
Hope this helps
