I am new to the whole "civ leader" game genre. I purchased Civ 3 about 2 months ago and love it. However, I wanted to try something in the space genre since I am a big sci-fi fan. Everyone's talking about MoO3. But I've also heard of the game Starships Unlimited. Anyone out there have or tried both? Any ideas on which is better in their opinion? And finally, I'd love to hear thoughts on GalCiv. Anyone think it might be better to wait on this instead of MoO3 or SU?

Starships Unlimited Divided Galaxys is awesome good AI good graphics not alot of management but.....No Multiplayer

GalCiv has great graphics gameplay is awesome but you can be only one race Human.

So the question is are you looking for multiplayer or single player.

If you really want something thats awesome fun and space related (and in ways similiar to the civ management scheme) goto amazon.com or a local software store and pickup Master of Orion 2. They usually sell it in its jewlcase alone for cheap. You wont regret it at all for the price and you'll pick it up really fast if you know how to play civ.

GalCiv looks awesome - I hope it is what MOO3 should have been [/whistful]

It is unfortunate that MOO3 sucks so bad.

MOO2 is absolutely awesome. We play it often, after how many years?

I can't speak for the other two games you asked about, as I haven't tried them myself. Some day, though...

Gal Civ is awesome, it is true that it is single player, but to be honest, it's next to near impossible to play MOO3 multiplayer anyway, as there is hardly anyone with a game going when I am free, and it's impossible to finish it in any amount of time (It's hard enough to get enough people together much less schedule time to resume a game).

I just bought GalCiv this week, and the AI is very challenging, and most importantly, I feel as though I make a difference in running my Empire (although at this point it is use to a detrimental effect, DOH!). You can only play Humans, but there is a lot of room for modification.

I enjoy GalCiv a lot too. It does seem like a mix of Civilization series of games and the MOO series - but all the good parts. Is there room for improvement in GalCiv? I am sure there is but I don't have a complaint yet. :)
