A stupid editor question:
Is it possible to make a technology so only one civ can reasearch it?
If so, please tell me how.
Thnx,

This was discussed here a while back.
I believe the result of the discussion was that no, you can't but you can give civs unique starting techs that no-one else can research (make them era_none techs in the editor)

The closest you can get is to make a tech Era: None, then go into player properties and give a particular Civ that tech as a Free Tech. It will start the with game with the tech, no other civ will ever be able to research it.

I belive you can make a tech of any era depend on knowing an Era None tech. With this you could build a special tech sub-tree that only people who konw the original tech could research (of course tech trading will break this eventually).

It'll break before that. According to testers, you can just pick such a technology and you'll automatically start researching the era none prereqs anyway. The full thread on this, alluded to by Tacit_Exit, is: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45557

No-era techs though, don't work like they are supposed to. I tried having two of them in my ACW scenario and with PTW, they didn't work as intended.

with no er techs, if a civ starts with one tech and its bound to (prequisite) other techs, can you then research them??
