Difficulty: WARLORD
Map size: I want huge but whatever everyone else wants is fine by me.
Land mass: Archapelago 80%land
Climate:Temperate, Warm
Age: 4 billion
Barbs:roaming
#of Civ's: depends on map size. Small:3 Standard:6 Large:8 Huge:12 all will be random.
Our Civ: Let the group decide this.
Victory Conditions:Space is ONLY one off. And no abusing the stupid ai like ROP Rape and ROP Abuse.

Conquest is on, Diplo is on, Domination is on, cultre i thought about and turned it on, but space is off. SO JUST space is off. Reson is is how does me going to space make my civ better than egypt or gernamy? If you dont want to join PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE dont rag on me. Many people like to play many different ways.

Door, the Peaceful Domination variant, originally concocted for the RBCiv game PAssive Aggression. Just so the group can vote on it, i'll post them here Variant Rules: No attacking cities -- at all -- not with units, not bombardment, not bombing, nothing. Military actions are to be taken against military units (including workers and settlers) and land improvements only. Civilian casualties are not acceptable. Even attacking a city that was once yours to recapture it is strictly forbidden.
Cities may be accepted as tribute during peace talks and cities may legally be founded in enemy territory (during war, of course, check up on the Cultural Push exploit for details and explanations of why being at war is required).
Whaddya guys think?

Ok with us 3, i vote for that varient. This is warlrod howver and i just moved up so bear with me. But it seems easy enough. Now for a civ vote! Who do we want to be. Militeristc is worthless. We wont be swaping govs too much. So there goes religious.we will however want LOTS of citys because we cant capture:( ( i am a warmonger but this sounds fun.)
Commercial might help buidling a HUUUUGE empire. And Scientific is nice but what do we REEALLY need. I am thinking greece america or ottomans. Feel free to toss another one out there. Industrois would be nice seeing as we coudl road to all our citys quicly and lay rails quicker.And Expansonist would help us find good early city locations. I am really thinging america but their UU comes late so we would have to shoot for the wonder golden age gamble (and i hear i got better chance of winning the lottery.)
Also what size map??? I WAS thinkg huge conquest but with domination it might be better to do large. Again opinons? This is a pretty open game.

LordMongoose Mar 10, 2003, 04:30 PM I would recommend a Small or Tiny map, for ease of Peaceful Domination. But if we want a hard game, let's do normal. Huge and large are suicidal, considering that widdow and I are fairly new to Warlord.
As for civ, since we are only able to culture-flip our enemies, I say Babylonians. Their culture buildings come the cheapest (half on BOTH sci and religious) and they have a fairly good UU.
Roaming barbs is fine by me.
Thoughts?

Always War on Chieftain is a possibility (Chieftain because Always War is hard), but we could always make our own variant. For ideas, http://realmsbeyond.net/civ/egamelist.html is the list of games done by the RBCiv people. They're big on variants.

widdowmaker Mar 11, 2003, 08:00 AM sure but i dont htink you can join. I am version 1.20(or 1.21 whatever is latest. ) and the europe one aint out yet. But you can join mid-game if they relase the eroupe one and you keep up on reading turnlogs and checking the saves.

Hot damn! I like what I see, and settle down.
400BC: Start spearman, pottery in 20
3600: Finish spear, start warrior.
3400: Finish warrior, start another.
3250: Finish warrior, start settler prebuild for granary.
3150: Pop hut, get Ceremonial Burial
3000: Worker starts roading to Ivory after mining and roading bonus grasslands.
2950: Pop hut, get settler. Settler on goto for a nice spot by Berlin.
2900: Contact Russia via scout. Trade 21 gold, 2 gpt, and Ceremonial Burial for Alphabet. GPT canceled when we honorably declare war (I don't want to see any sneak attacks!). Warrior kills scout.
Nothing much from there on. Somewhere along the line, we got pottery and switched Berlin to granary, but my notes don't tell when. After granary, build a settler if no Russian units are on their way, then spears and archers. Remember, AW rules say that you must declare war the turn you make contact. We can trade before we declare war. Also, no peace. Ever. Ever. EVER.

IF it was 20 and NO settler may i ask WHY. The start phaes shoudl be defense and expasion untill we get knights. Then we will rule! I will go and conquer russia. Small map? How many civs? WHAT did you set it up as? Maybe right after this we do another game?
Anyways GOT IT.

I played 20 turns.
Russia had no WM BECAUSE they didn't have Map Making yet. Reason for no settler: First of all, I popped one, so we'll have two cities. Two: I didn't want to risk expanding an undefended site next to an enemy before I explored. Three: Defense and exploration, I felt, were more important. Four: There is NO point in building settlers without granary.
BTW, we must declare war on the turn we contact the enemy. NO declaring peace.

Standard climate and mountains.
Yes this was latest patch, I made sure of that. And, as you said, we should mostly fight defensively until knights. Using spears as pillagers is a strategy that works best with the Greeks (hoplites RULE), but I felt that we needed a late GA more than an early one. Next tech should be IW, forgot to change it.

IT: Nothing changes Qued a warrior then a baraks then a warrior and then temple.
1: move south warrior ontop of MT see hut. also see a green border. i assume russia but maybe greece. Move norht warrior north twoards moutain.
2: Pop south hut. Get 4 BARBS! Move north warior ontop moutain and see huts. Move settler one square west to get soem plains in insttead of a desert town.
3:lepizig founded. 3 barbs atack. Warrior goes elite with no hp loss. 4th goes twoards berlin. Move worker away form ivory after road doane and begin roading the gold moutain.
4: pop hut in norht. 25 gold. Go into green area. Celts! I get the wheel for ahlphabet and one other forgot what one though. I also get 10 gold and the sity list dotn show. So they got ONE city. I intende to take next turn. We delcare war as per rules.
5:lepizig 8 turns form spear. i attack celt cap and our wlite warrior dies! I kill roaming barb with other warior near berlin. warrior loses 1 hp. no rank gain
6: I begin movign pour 2 warriors south to celts as i want to nail them BEFORE we go after russia. There is ONE horse FAR norht. I intend to settle it asap and crak out horsies. begin making archers for 2 atk. Move warrior onto moutain and fort. HE is our warning guy. Baraks done in berlin. I MM to to maximize grothe in lebzig.

13:foudn england scout, they want all our gold (109) for mycisim and masonry. Seeing as this si AW i try for a ludicris GPT deal and it dont work. I hagle and get the deal down to 90 gold. Formal war
14: Celts ataack our vet archer with their reg. We go to one hp and kill theirs. No level gain. BErlin complete archer and lepzig does worker. Start settler in berlin and archer in lepzig. I begin roading to berlin settler in 5 growth in 2 i try to MM for NO growth to avoid riot. When settler done i will do a spear send out twards horses. Then move berlin back to food growth. For some reson we did iron working by default. forgot to check it. Iron is norht by horses.
15: Nada
16:nada but CELTS HAVE IRON IN THEIR TERITORY!! Main objective. TAKE THE CITY AND GET THE IRON!
17:moveing units
18: settler done in Berlin. MM back to food growth. Move settler for iron. Celts attack with archer. our vet dies to their reg. i attack with reg warrior, dies. our vet archer. dies. theirs gains level. wake vet warrior to norht and decide to have him go to settler. we need swords.
19:nada
20:walls done in berlin. We might be on the defense fo rawhile. I go for horse riding then construction so we can buld fortress. End of my turns screen on next post.

Black = road i am worikng on.
Pink= a vet archer somewhere in there. celtic.
pink/red = Futre roads for iron and horses.
green = 2nd futre city.
brown = our horses
orangeish = our iron
blue = CELTS iron (no road to my knowing)
yellow: pillage so we can make the citizenry unhappy.
Also can we do peace to see if he has towns and how many he has, and get maps? and then war again. Like we pillaged a town and we made the citzens talk?

widdowmaker Mar 12, 2003, 06:37 AM Dunno if this is cheating. I dont think it is. I loaded it up and retired instead of quitting. The land route to us is that little bridge. We get it and defende it and counquer south and we have a nice penisula. Then build eastwards and conquer westwards. Further west than our town is a large desert so we may have to avoid that.

Signing gold per turn deals with another civ in an Always War game and then immediately breaking these deals when you declare war is widely considered to be cheating. I would suggest you avoid doing this in the future; Chieftan shouldn't be that difficult to beat anyway. :)
And retiring to look at the world map to plan future strategy? Oh yeah, that's definitely considered cheating. If you yourself recognize that this is cheating (as you seem to do) and are still doing it, perhaps you need to rethink the way you play this game. In solo games it might not matter, but in a succession game you owe it to your team to play the game in a fair manner without revealed map information.

Deals in their favor. And 3 inexperienced players. First SG so i did nto know. Please dont hold it against me in futre games.
It did not seem like cheating to me. Seems like the ai getting crap cheaper is the cheat.

I am getting a bit annoyed with how many people keep accusing the AI of cheating... :rolleyes: Yes, the AI does "cheat" (the main way that the AI "cheats" on this level (and on others) is that it already knows where the resources are and are able to tell exactly where your troops/ships are. (But, you can used these things to your advantage...) There might be another couple of ways that the ai "cheats," but off of the top of my head I can't think of them...). But, what I think the real problem is, is that the individuals who accuse the AI of cheating don't understand the mechanics of the game very well... (Note: I am not insulting or attacking you...)
