It basically does what it says on the label - you use it to import features from another scenario into the one you're editing. It overwrites whatever's in the existing scenario with what you import.

So, for example, if I'm working on my rules mod and want to test them out on a specific map, I could import a map I've downloaded.

Or I might have been drawing a really pretty map and want to play it using my own rules, so I import the rules bic. What's cool is that you can choose to import just bits of the rules - say you want to use the government types from scenario A and the units from scenario B, you can import them into your new scenario just like that.

One useful idea: if you've modded a scenario with a favourite set of civs (player 1 = England, player 2 = Germany etc....), you can set up all of your subsequent scenarios to have the same cast list by importing the player data. It saves messing around with the setup screen at the start of the game.

The easiest way to get a feel for it is to play with it.

Thanks Illustrious, I have another question if I import units in scenario A to scenario B will it overwrite the units in scenario B that were allready there.

Yep. It's an all or nothing matter I'm afraid.

What I do to avoid these problems is I keep a set of bics each of which contains the different sets of unit stats or civ data or government mods etc I've worked on. Just the rules mods, no maps etc.

I separately keep all the bics containing maps and starting locations. Again, just the maps, no rules mods.

Then, when I want to combine, I import part of a rules bic into a map bic. This ensures I don't overwrite anything I've worked on.

Let us have a few more details, and I'll see if I can help. What did you attempt to import, what was already in the scenario before importing, etc.... (plus of course the standard info ie flavour and patch level).

My patch level is PTW v1.21. I tryed to import the governments from Double Your Pleasure to TETurkhan Test of Time. I was in Double Your Pleasure and clicked import then this other window came up I click on rules then on governments and hit ok. Next The open window came up and I click on TETurkhan Test of Time and hit open. I went to the TETurkhan Test of Time mod but nothing changed in the governments Tab.:(

Aha! Got it! What you've done is to work in the wrong direction - the correct approach is to be in TETurkhan Test of Time, click Import>Rules>Governments, and when the Open box comes up, you select DyP. What you've done is pass the governments from TOT into DyP. If you saved, you'll need to restore DyP from the zip files before you can proceed...

Remember, it's called Import, not Export....:D
