Please forgive any splelling errors. I sometime start to type WAY to fast and cant catch myself. joedoe21 Mar 14, 2003, 12:17 AM I would like to join. This would be my first SG so I would go last in the turns so I know exactly what to do (I have a fair idea, as I've been reading some SG) If you don't want me to play that's ok. widdowmaker Mar 14, 2003, 08:25 AM Glad to have ya. Anymore? EDIT: Make sure you all got the PTW and 1.20f (the latest american version) Turnlog tonight. This is warlord so if it is too tough (You deity players just dont say anything.) let me know so i can drop you, if you want. joedoe21 Mar 14, 2003, 05:37 PM Isn't the latest update 1.21? CivCube Mar 14, 2003, 08:05 PM w00t! I'll keep on the lookout for the save. joedoe21, 'tis. ;) joedoe21 Mar 14, 2003, 08:36 PM OK, I look forward to playing, this will be my first SG :) widdowmaker Mar 15, 2003, 01:09 AM ARGGGGGH!!!! I got taken away form my normal comp for a few days. Do one of you mind starting? Just random all. Standard size map and our civ is ottomans. Our goal is a spaceship launch. Be sure to turn off culteral victory and set barbs to ROAMING. joedoe21 Mar 15, 2003, 02:13 AM I think that civcube should start, since I have never done a SG before. Will you start civcube? CivCube Mar 15, 2003, 09:01 AM OK, sure. Just ten turns per player, right? ~I won't be back from volunteer work till probably after 4-5 pm central so hold your horses (holy crap, the expressions you say when you're a Midwesterner), folks! (AAGH!) CivCube Mar 15, 2003, 09:27 AM Eh, finished it. Surprisingly fast. Guess I don't need to wait after 4 pm after all. Here we go: 4000 BC: We are standing on a hill, with mountains to the north, gold on a hill to the west, a whale to the east, and grassland to the southwest. Meanwhile, we're on the coast! Woo-hoo! INSTANBUL FOUNDED 4000 BC I start building a Warrior to explore the area, and send the Worker to build a road to the gold. I also set Map-Making as a tech goal, since we already have Bronze Working and Masonry and are on the coast. 3950 BC: Worker begins road to Gold. There's more Gold south of what we've seen. 3850 BC: That was fast. Worker finishes road and goes to connect Gold. 3800 BC: Worker begins connecting Gold to Instanbul. 3750 BC: Building. 3700 BC: Building. 3650 BC: Worker finishes road, and proceeds south to connect more Gold. 3600 BC: Worker begins building road again. 3550 BC: Building. 3500 BC: Cultural influence expands! Warrior is built, and is sent north exploring. 3450 BC: Warrior goes to mountain, and sees Wheat up ahead. Instanbul is building Spearman. Overall, this is an excellent start to our game. Here's the save: widdowmaker Mar 15, 2003, 10:09 AM got it. I will play now. Also it is typicly 20 turns in begining and 10 later on. And remember. If we dotn win via space ship launch or conquest then it aint a win. widdowmaker Mar 15, 2003, 10:14 AM Ok for some reason i get an error trying to load it! GRRRRR! I swear this gme is trying to NOT let me have a fun SG! CivCube Mar 15, 2003, 02:05 PM Oooh...what's the error?? Might be my fault. I was playing March's GOTM before this, so it might be the PediaIcons. joedoe21 Mar 15, 2003, 04:21 PM I just realised I am now using 1.14f to play another SG, does that mean I cannot play? :( CivCube Mar 15, 2003, 06:06 PM Not at all. AFAIK, if you click on the 1.21f icon again, you can remove the patch for a while until you install it back. joedoe21 Mar 15, 2003, 07:02 PM What icon? You mean the one on the bottom left corner of the main game screen in PTW? CivCube Mar 15, 2003, 07:34 PM Oops, should be more specific: there's a blue icon on the desktop if you downloaded the patch to the desktop. Click on that to install, and click on it again to uninstall. CivCube Mar 15, 2003, 08:41 PM Crap, sorry widdowmaker, I think it is me. I started the game up using the GOTM stuff. Shall we start over? widdowmaker Mar 15, 2003, 08:47 PM yes. civcube you start. this is 1.20 joedoe21 Mar 15, 2003, 10:10 PM I guess I can't play then, since I have 1.21 and I don't have that button to reinstall it..... sorry. CivCube Mar 16, 2003, 01:41 PM Here we go again... 4000 BC: Yech, Flood Plain. There's a river nearby, though. It appears that we're inland, with mountains and hills all around us. Should head for the hills, but there's some jungle nearby. What I think I'll do is settle for now and see if there's a better place to go later on. ISTANBUL FOUNDED Hmm, some wheat and game nearby. I send the Worker there. Construction's a must, so I set that as a goal. Working the slider doesn't really do anything, so I set it back a little for some quick cash. 3950 BC: Building. 3900 BC: Building. 3850 BC: Worker finishes road on hill. 3800 BC: He moves to wheat. 3750 BC: Worker begins work on road. 3700 BC: Our man finishes the road to the wheat. 3600 BC: He moves north to connect the game. Incense is spotted west in a desert. 3550 BC: Building. 3500 BC: Cultural influence expands. Warrior is finished, and is sent to the goody hut just spotted northeast... 3450 BC: Our good men move ever closer to their goals. 3400 BC: Worker begins connecting the game to Istanbul, and Warrior gets 25 shells. (We now have 72 gold with +4 per turn.) 3350 BC: Warrior is sent north. More mountains, but water is spotted! 3300 BC: Warrior continues north. 3250 BC: Dyes are spotted on the coast, with some in the jungle south of Istanbul. Warrior continues north. Worker finishes road. 3200 BC: Worker is sent southwest of Istanbul to irrigate. 3150 BC: Cattle spotted on the coast. Istanbul's Spearman Coalition is founded. Let's have 'em stay there, shall we? 3100 BC: Our brave Warrior continues north. Worker finishes irrigation. Snow-capped peak is found, along with ivory and a goody hut to the west. Warrior is sent there. 3050 BC: Worker sent SW to mine. 3000 BC: Ah, the wonderful feeling of knowing how to shape the clay between your fingers...the goody hut gave us Pottery! Yeahhh, it's an okay start, I guess, but not nearly as good as the first one. :p Here's the save. Hope it works this time! widdowmaker Mar 16, 2003, 05:18 PM duh! I mean 1.21f. I just checked my version! Sorry! This is 1.21f! my bad. and this is a got it btw. widdowmaker Mar 17, 2003, 07:37 PM here is da turnlog. And i hope the save works IT:This is whack. Game is not a luxury it is a bonus. and why is our tech tree so messed up? Th ai researchs top to bottom but starts in middle. I alter to finish iron working and then cerimonial burial and then be line for a new gov. Monarchy. As we will be a mon until democracy. 1:zzz 2.spear done he explores east and finds hut. warrior goes south. 3. warrior stands on moutain and sees hut. 4. nuthin but maps! granery started in istanbul. 5.zzz 6.zzz 7.zzz 8.zzz 9.contact! it is irroquis. They got cerimonial and warriorcode. We get iron in 12 so i wait. 10.zzz 11.zzz 12. spot hut. diease hits istanbul. 13.take hut. cerimonal burial. 14.zzz 15.zzz 16.zzz 17.zzz 18.zzz 19.hut found and popped. 20: green border found by john the adventuer. Ok i got one sper exploring. The other is going to what i want to be the next city destination, can be vetoed. Then john is going to make contact and try to broker to get us to techparity. On this tunr i got warrior code from iroquios for 120gold. finish iron and i think we need a new gov. The extra income and resurces is reason enough. If we want republic then we can trade monarchy for it. All in all not a bad turn! I also set up some prefs. In a SG you want it to ALWAYS wait at end of your turn. This lets you make finial changes. Then you want to know WHEN the enemy makes wonders. (f7) So i turned that option on too. Also for those who dont know. I find that the best city placement map is called "The 5-Count" Take your city square and count 5 tiles in any direction long as it is a stragight shot. (to see tiles do ctrl+g) That would be the BEST city location for no overlap. We are expanding way sloly. Once the granery is done i HIGLY recomend us making a settler and getting a town up. The i recomend we kill the iroquis to the south. (I hate those damn indians. they always war later.) Thats it. Have fun and please forgive any spelling errors. widdowmaker Mar 17, 2003, 07:42 PM http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads3/2750_bc_save_wid2.sav the save CivCube Mar 17, 2003, 08:02 PM I think joedoe21 doesn't want to play at the moment, so I got it. ~... Dude, you posted the wrong save! joedoe21 Mar 17, 2003, 11:56 PM Yeah sorry guys, I'm out. I can only play with 1.14f. widdowmaker Mar 18, 2003, 07:38 AM DOH! Iam looking but i cant find it! widdowmaker Mar 18, 2003, 07:41 AM BAH! I cant find it! I named it WID3, 2700BC.sav and am looking for anything with WID in it using a find feature. And i only get that ONE file! Mod where is it! i uploaded bout 5 times. Erik Mesoy Mar 18, 2003, 09:25 AM Suggestion: Watch the caps. That messed me up. Searching for WID32700BC will not help if the file is named WID32700bc.sav. I remember the time my program suddenly starting saving pictures as .GIF rather than .gif files. LKendter Mar 18, 2003, 09:56 AM Suggestion #2 - the upload server will act like it is working, but if the name ends in .SAV (All caps) it won't transfer. Make sure .sav, .jpg, .zip, etc are in lowercase. widdowmaker Mar 19, 2003, 06:24 AM checked those. Must be it. WID was caps and it was .SAV and not .sav Changed them but i am on 56k so it is taking like hours to open the upload window. Ahh well. I hope it works. widdowmaker Mar 19, 2003, 06:28 AM civ cube sry bout the delay i got to go to school. i upload it later. widdowmaker Mar 19, 2003, 05:26 PM AHHHHHHHH. My comp is havin problems, so i got ot end this prematurely. Family problems and comp problems CivCube Mar 19, 2003, 06:26 PM Shucks. :( Well, if you want to start this up again, don't hesitate to ask! :) |
