View Full Version : Naming New Cities Octavian X Mar 20, 2003, 04:45 PM We'll, we've got this thing underway, we might as well think of some names for our new cities. Ideas? Shahadet Mar 20, 2003, 06:11 PM When it come around to me being allowed to name a city then I would choose The Akasha. As for general suggestions how about: Balaclavia Assisted Suicide Resenance Cascade Scenario Archer 007 Mar 20, 2003, 06:49 PM How about just numbering them. 001, 002, etc. Leowind Mar 20, 2003, 08:32 PM Sorry, numbers are too boring and generic for me for this game. I suspect Assisted Suicide might be a bit controversial, as well, and I would suggest not using it. I like the other names, however. :) Just supplied a bunch of city names to the GC Multiplayer Demo game, so my creativity is a bit used up at the moment. I think Neumatic would work for my city, however. I may come up with some others later if we need them. B01, B02, B03..... :) Originally posted by Leowind I suspect Assisted Suicide might be a bit controversial, as well, and I would suggest not using it. You are correct sir. funxus Mar 21, 2003, 12:48 AM How about Trollhättan:) Jayne Mar 21, 2003, 01:45 AM Leowind wrote:Just supplied a bunch of city names to the GC Multiplayer Demo game, so my creativity is a bit used up at the moment. I only supplied one, and I still can't think of anymore!!! How about - Ipecacuana Elsaak Mar 21, 2003, 05:50 AM Ipecacuana ?? I like it so much !! Jayne Mar 21, 2003, 05:53 AM It's the name of the active ingredient in the cough & conjestion mixture I've been giving Lucy all week for her cold! Leowind Mar 21, 2003, 11:19 AM If on a River: Lucy's Crossing Otherwise: Ft. Lucy Not very creative, but a start :D TimTheEnchanter Mar 21, 2003, 11:35 AM Is that the same as Ipecac? I thought that was an emetic, not a cough/cold formula. TheViking Mar 21, 2003, 11:49 AM Originally posted by Jayne It's the name of the active ingredient in the cough & conjestion mixture I've been giving Lucy all week for her cold! To me it looked like an Aztec city name  puglover Mar 21, 2003, 12:21 PM Originally posted by Leowind If on a River: Lucy's Crossing Otherwise: Ft. Igloria Fanatic City Mexico Wyoming Nothing Powerhungry Dictators Alpha Centauri :) :D puglover Mar 21, 2003, 12:23 PM Originally posted by TheViking To me it looked like an Aztec city name  Me too! puglover Mar 21, 2003, 12:26 PM Originally posted by Elsaak Ipecacuana Nice one! :goodjob: Octavian X Mar 21, 2003, 07:09 PM Ipecacuana? What are you giving your child, Jayne? Personally, I'd like to see a 'Doughnutia' somewhere... Shahadet Mar 22, 2003, 12:39 PM As a serious suggestion I would like to see the name Chitchen Itza used. It was the ancient capital of a South American astrology race known as the Mayans. Jayne Mar 22, 2003, 01:12 PM Leowind: Thanks for the Lucy sugestions! :goodjob: Yes, ipecac does sound Mexican, and yes, ipecac is an emetic in large doses but in small doses it's a good expectorant (when I'm not Presiding over CFC and being a Mum, I'm a pharmacist! ;) ) TimTheEnchanter Mar 23, 2003, 05:42 AM Originally posted by Jayne Leowind: Thanks for the Lucy sugestions! :goodjob: Yes, ipecac does sound Mexican, and yes, ipecac is an emetic in large doses but in small doses it's a good expectorant (when I'm not Presiding over CFC and being a Mum, I'm a pharmacist! ;) ) Wow, someone apparently stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night! If/when we build that canal city, it seems appropriate to name it either "Suez" or "Panama". If you find a nice city site with lots of trees, I'd be flattered if it were named "Enchanted Forest" Leowind Mar 24, 2003, 09:54 AM "Enchanted Forest" is the name of a kiddie theme park about an hour up the road from where I live  Would be great fun to have a city named that in the game :D TimTheEnchanter Mar 24, 2003, 11:18 AM Originally posted by Leowind "Enchanted Forest" is the name of a kiddie theme park about an hour up the road from where I live  Would be great fun to have a city named that in the game :D Yes, I know. That's actually where I got the name. I went there several times myself (grew up in Salem). I think it was not an uncommon name for kiddie parks because there was one (since closed down) near where I live now that my wife went to when she was a kid. |
