View Full Version : This section is slowly dying...
GenghisK Apr 23, 2001, 01:28 PM Why don't people post on that forum? While OT or Civ3 have new posts everyday, I was surprised and terribly sad that this one hasn't had new posts since... 16 April. Perhaps people don't like playing Colonization? I cannot understand that. I'm really disappointed. Of course Thunderfall will have less work to do http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif but that's a pity nobody is trying to keep Colonization section alive.

Loaf Warden Apr 24, 2001, 12:25 AM I like Colonization, but frankly, I don't play it all that often. My computer tends to give me error messages when I play it for awhile, and Civ II takes up a lot of my gaming time. So I personally don't typically have much to say on the topic. Which is a shame, really, because it's a neat game. Maybe I'll start up a game later this week, once I've had a chance to sleep a little bit. It would be a good distraction from my final exam studying. http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif
What is exactly Colonisation? I don't even know the game...

GenghisK Apr 25, 2001, 03:49 AM Damn! You don't know what IS Colonization? My poor friend, you don't deserve to be a Sid Meier fan any more! http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif
Seriously, Colonization is another Sid masterpiece, a civ-like but here you're colonizing (surprising isn't it?http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif) the new world from 1492 (Christopher Colombus) to 1800 after the US independance declaration. It's working the same way you know. It's a shame you don't have it. But as you have a Macintosh, it was a bit difficult to get a Mac ver... It took me a while too, to find it. Anyway, PM me, I'll fix that "problem" http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/wink.gif Serious.

phoenixcager May 09, 2001, 11:00 PM Well considering that colonization is a pretty old game, we don't expect to see people flocking to the forum.
I myself am the moderator of the col forum at CGN, but I haven't touched the game for more than a month now....and before that it was for a few years.

Father Time Jun 26, 2001, 07:41 PM Bwahaha! This forum won't die, as long as I post a whole heck of a lot!
Or, maybe not that much. This game is several years old, and the big news right now is Civ3, so don't expect a daily post here.
Actually, the posts here have been speeding up. http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif

phoenixcager Aug 24, 2001, 05:50 AM But will we have anything to talk about?

Yesterday finished another Revolution as Explorer level. Ok, I'm not gifted to try a harder level. http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Thunderfall Aug 25, 2001, 04:33 PM Anyone know why no one is making Colonization II? I find it quiet strange because both Civ3 and Moo3 are around the corner...

LandGrabber Aug 27, 2001, 01:49 AM Over at the Colonization II Project, we're currently discussing the interface for the Home Country Screen (European View, in the old game). We've also been having a pretty good debate on the Founding Fathers, John Paul Jones with his Frigate, and La Salle with his Stockade for Colonies with a Pop. of 3 are on their way out, as the voting now stands. While most of the suggested new Fathers are looking like they'll get in.
Stop by and have a look. You don't have to be registered to post or even start a new thread.

For a review of what's been happening, and to download the latest version of our code (it doesn't do a lot as yet, but we're getting there!) Check out the web site at:

LandGrabber Aug 30, 2001, 04:54 AM We may have added a new coder, so things may pick up.
The latest version allows us to select new units in the Home Country Screen (Europe in the old game). You can load cargo onto a ship as well as passengers and send them off to the map. They get there ok, but you can’t, as yet, land them.
This may not seem like much (and it isn’t), but we’re making headway.
spycatcher34 Sep 02, 2001, 06:49 PM Hey that progresshttp://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/goodwork.gif Stopped by the site today. Yall are SOOOO busy and putting so much effort into this and I for one appreciate it. So if theres any ground breaking developments(lie being able to actually move unitshttp://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/wink.gifhttp://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/tongue.gifhttp://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/biggrin.gif j/k) TELL US!!http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif

LandGrabber Sep 03, 2001, 03:33 AM SC, you’re a little behind the times. We could move units in the version before this last one. Of course they don’t have anywhere to go and don’t have a whole lot to do, but we can move them. (Pioneer units can build roads, and irrigate squares.)
I think our next effort will be to develop a Colony Display Screen. I made up a preliminary one just to give an idea of what it MIGHT look like. Of course those elements from the old game I included will have to be changed to our own design. (Production, Construction, Units Present, etc.)
Also, I’m no artist so don’t laugh at my feeble attempts at a building! (I’m sensitive. I might just go off and sulk if you do.)
Still, if anybody would like to try their hand at this, or any other aspect of the game, or if you have any suggestions on ways you’d like to see it improved, stop by and post. Everybody’s welcome. (And nobody gets laughed at, even talentless artists!)

Well anyway you peeps are busier than i thought!http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

GenghisK Sep 03, 2001, 04:40 PM My bad, finally we are slipping away from the main subject but that's even better. Indeed, at least it's not dying down and people contribute to keep it alive. He he, cool cool cool. Thanks guys http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif
Son of Liberty Sep 09, 2001, 11:56 AM Hey, LandGrabber I did not know that you post here.
Hi guys! I'm also one of those people who try to create a sequel to Colonization. I'm a frequent poster on our board and I design part of the graphical interface of the game. What our project/forum lacks are visitors and posters, some ideas are often only commented by 2 people. Perhaps some of our more advanced ideas could (with the approval of the mods, this is not a Col2 board after all) be posted here. Here there's quite a large audience who is interested in Colonization...
spycatcher34 Sep 09, 2001, 01:54 PM Hi SoL yeah ive seen ya around there i might just come over and post somethin(i got a global acount now<IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/biggrin.gif" border=0>)
Edit: sorry GKhttp://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif I was gonna start a new topic anyway so now i'll just get around to doing it.
