View Full Version : Idea- Compilation of Stories- "The Epic of Fanatika"
Grandmaster Apr 10, 2003, 02:46 PM It just struck me as I was posting in CT's thread: why don't we compile all the great RPG stories and save them as a single epic for posterity? We can make a list of the stories, like the "English Terror War", "the Wanderings", etc. and put them in a file that somebody (perhaps even myself) could hold on to, so that future citizens may remember the past, and so us old folks can remember the "good old days" with something to back us up.
Any thoughts?
Zarn Apr 10, 2003, 03:13 PM Hmm well, how would we do that? Would there be a seperate section for the Jedi Council, Spiritualism, etc..., or would there be something on the Jedi, then something with the Spiritualists, then something els about the Jedi, but in chronlogical order?
How do we fix the holes in the plots?
I love the idea, though. Maybe people can be assigned to do certain parts, if possible.
Padma Apr 10, 2003, 03:42 PM I love the idea, too.
I was re-reading the whole "Religions" thread the other day. Ahhh, misty-eyed nostalgia. :sigh:
Shaitan Apr 10, 2003, 03:44 PM That's a great idea. Many of the stories are across threads. Would we try to combine these to be contiguous?
Padma Apr 10, 2003, 03:59 PM I just remembered, TF was talking a few months back about putting a "Stories & Timelines" feature on the main page. Chieftess was starting work on it back in Feb. I'll have to ask her the status of it (I would like to work on it, too ;) ). Perhaps the "Epic of Fanatika" could find a home there, as well. :)
Grandmaster Apr 10, 2003, 04:15 PM OK, I'll try to answer questions:
1) Regarding how to organize it, I figured we could arrange it somewhat like (pardon the example) the Bible, or for lack of that, a storybook. You know, find each story, and make its its own chapter. For instance, the first chapter could be "the Wanderings", followed by "the English Terror War" (although they might be one story, depending on how you look at it), eventually all the way to ending(?) with the Sith War and the Tiburon Island Conflict.
2) We could either fix the holes, or leave it as-is. It might make it have more mystique that way. ;) If we decide to fill the wholes, the original authors (or somebody else) could sit down with the story and write short texts to fill in the gaps.
3) Yes, we would need multiple people to work on this. For instance, we could assign one person to the Jedi Council thread, another to pages 1-5 of the Religions, then 6-10 of the Religions, somebody for "The Volcanoe Erupts", etc. I for one would be willing to cover the Wanderings and the other tales of Grandmaster, Shaitan, and Joseph on the roads of Fanatika and England.
4) Yes and no to continuity. We would try to make each individual story into a coherent text (for example, combining my posts, Shaitan's, and McNulty's to make a single, flowing text of the Wanderings.) However, since not all stories are related to one another, they would be kept seperate.
5) It would be great if we had something like what TF was talking about. Who knows, if people were to read the great literature Fanatika has spawned, it might even entice them to join. Anybody up for putting a copy of the manuscript in the Stories & Tales forum, maybe convince some of the great players there to join? ;)
OK, before we do much else, though, we should compile a list of all the stories. Please add any that you remember. I'll start with what I know of:
1. The Wanderings of GM, Shaitan, and Joseph (Religions)
2. The English Terror War (Religions)
3. The Sith War (Religions)
4. The Tiburon Island Conflict (Volcano)
5. The Resistance (Casino)
6. The Raids of India (Looking for a Few Good Men)
7. The Mara Jade Chronicles & the Kidnap of Gunning (still going) (Rebel Pub so far)
Those are all I can remember, so please add anything you can think of. :)
Octavian X Apr 10, 2003, 05:17 PM Wasn't Doughnutia in... Nah, I just remembered, I was too lazy to do much more than make myself a King. ;)
What about disorganizer's episode as a vampire? That's something worth note.
Grandmaster Apr 10, 2003, 05:20 PM Indeed. Thank you for reminding me of that. I have compiled a list of links to all the threads that I think contain stories of interest (including the Religions, Jedi Council, Dis's Undead Organization, the various Great Houses, and others.) Here it is:
Stuck_as_a_Mac Apr 10, 2003, 05:28 PM can you put it as a zip?
Zarn Apr 10, 2003, 05:28 PM Council parade with the terror attacks should be one of them.
Grandmaster Apr 10, 2003, 05:29 PM I'll try... I don't use Winzip, so it causes some trouble sometimes...
Grandmaster Apr 10, 2003, 05:33 PM Hmmm.... I seem to be unable to create a ZIP archive file. Is there anybody who can open the ACE that can convert it to a ZIP?
Grandmaster Apr 10, 2003, 05:37 PM Nevermind, here we go: http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads4/Epic_of_Fanatika_List.zip

Some of that story can be found in the Jedi Council Thread, The Religions Thread, and The Rebel Pub.
Mara Jade's Introduction was in The Religions thread.
CivGeneral Apr 12, 2003, 04:02 PM The new story entitled "Theory of the End Game Phenomena" has started. Mostly it would be in the Volcano thread, one post would be branched into the Religions thread and soon separate into a new Thread.
Cyc Apr 13, 2003, 11:03 PM I would personally like to see Shaitan's Wake in the Fanatika Chronicles or the Epic of Fanatika, whatever it is to be called.
Grandmaster Apr 14, 2003, 02:38 PM Agreed. It was in the Bavaria Castle thread?
Shaitan Apr 14, 2003, 03:45 PM Yup :)
Cyc Apr 15, 2003, 11:10 PM I'll second that "Yup".
It can be found here ---> Shaitan's Wake (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?threadid=38773&pagenumber=6) in the Bavaria Castle thread. It runs about three pages long. I would again like to thank everyone for their participation in that event.
