Hello!

Here's an Inuit leaderhead. Comments are appreciated - my notes are to be found in a text file within the zips. Since great leaders are sparse in Inuit history, I named her "Nulirahak," after one of their ancient goddesses. Right now, it's in four files, but I'm working on getting them in a single link.

So for now, you can get it here:

Wow, she's great!
I'd also like to thank you for the thorough research you've done, I should be able to make some interesting city names from the list you've provided...

Five star job! Backgrounds and everything so carefully considered - now we really should have Inuit units.

I guess I'm soon gonna change Egyptians to Inuits since I can't stand that transvestite Cleopatra anymore.

First of all, I like what you did but in the dl I got two times NK_B2.flc and no NK_B1.flc. I tried them and there both the same .
Can you fix this please and put NK_B1.flc somewhere.

Ooops! Thanks. "Nulirahak4of4" now has NK_B1. Get the one marked "THIS ONE."

I'm working on a dogsled UU, but it's been slow going.

Yep.. animated.

Yep... bikini in a sauna.

Being a member of the people who invented sauna, I must ask: what has inuits have to do with sauna?

who cares, I bet an inuit living a thousand years ago would have loved a chance to relax in a modern sauna!!

And I would have loved to look at them! :D Well, not all of them, just the girls, and not the ugly girls either, just the pretty ones, and not all the pretty ones, just the ones who wouldn't slap me after I was caught, so basically...nevermind.

Well, we have saunas in upstate NY, so I figured they'd have them there. It's even colder in traditional Inuit areas. So, I figured she'd have one by the modern era.

BTW: I'm working on fixing the trasparency issue.

Hey, nice leaderhead! I replaced Cathrine.

Ironically, there are some units already done that might make good Inuit UU's. The Wolf Chariot could pass as a Dog-Sled for instance.

Billville, did you realize that you just revived an older than one year thread?

For ONE time, I'm glad someone did a such horrible thing :)

Me 2. I didn't have this leaderhead on file.

EDIT: On second thought, I can't seem to use this, the files are corrupt when I download.

I have this downloaded from long ago (same Apolyton site) with no errors, you might try again.

(If it doesn't work again, something might have happened since then on their server)

btw, if anyone installs this is the transparency problem still there?

Downloaded yesterday w/o errors. Try to save as instead of just open it. Sometime, the errors disappear this way.

How strange, it still says it's corrupt when I do that. Maybe I should run my disk cleanup. I'll get to it later. Oh well.

Transparency issues are still there. Someone is welcome to fix them, or let me know how to fix them in an un-time consuming manner.

This is a quick fix for NK_all.pcx, but it doesn't rescale the figure to match the firaxis ones though (If I ever install this one, I'll get around to that).

Cute leaderhead. :D
Will I offend Canadians if I use this as their leaderhead? The Inuit will be a civ only in pre-industial scenarios. I won't get a chance to see the bikini-clad animations otherwise.

I actually saw this before it got bumped up while I was digging around for wonders. But she is a beauty. Too bad the Leaderhead Library is sooo incomplete. *Sigh*

I don't know if this would help, but maybe making the hair color a shade lighter or darker in the picture? Not enough to be perceptable, but just a slightly different color. Maybe the game interperets the color it's at as a "transparent" color.

I use this leaderhead for the Canadians already (as Laura Secord) - and I've a set of pcx's tied into the industrial age which I did about a year ago. I think it suits Canada better. Download 'em at the link below.

I fiddled with that for so long the first time through, and it was such ... a ... hassle ...

Eventually I decided to move on. Maybe I'll go back and fiddle with it though, since some folks would like that.

Has anyone made a city list & co for the Inuits ?

aaron_burr
Apr 17, 2004, 07:36 AM
In the readme file, I gave a list of Inuit words you could use, because they were nomadic, so there weren't any city names that I could find.

And there's a list of first names for your great leaders.

Thanks, seems like I haven't seen it when I unzipped.

Did anyone ever make a dogsled unit?

It appears as though the PCXs have pallette problems. Has anyone tested this in game? Do the FLCs have problems as well?

The flcs look great to me. There is a 'transparency' issue (not a big deal in my opinon) but hopefully the update to the all.pcx file helped that (I haven't tested it yet).

EDIT - Just tested, it seems fine to me!

uhoh, I'm having problems. I replaced Cathrine with this leaderhead but when it gets to be the industrial age it goes back to the old one. Any idea how to fix this?

aaron_burr

Check the mod file. You may have put the wrong name in the flc listing.

Billville

All I did was back up my original files, change the NK part in every to CA (except the Inuit files in the races folder, which I changed to Russians) and then copied everything into my civ3 folder, where it overwrote the files. Which is the one that controls the industrial age graphics?

R8XFT
May 03, 2004, 03:39 PM
The Industrial age flcs for the Russians are Ca_01 & Ca_02; my guess is that you set the Inuit flcs to Ca_C01 & Ca_C02. If this is the case, rename them to Ca_01 & Ca_02 and it'll work.
