View Full Version : Building Graphics: Brewery (era specific!)

Gael requested this at least couple of times, so here is an improvement called Brewery. The label it produces is: Gael Beer

I'm happy with the result, came out fast and easy even though practically everything is handwork. From those ancient Egyptian times to this day.:egypt: :king:  :borg:

This is a good building for production, tax and/or luxury increase and it surely adds happy faces. Possibly doubles city growth rate by indirect effects and certainly reduces war weariness. Brewery requires Barley resource (is there one?) and must be near water.

Negative factors could be unhappy faces especially day after, but then again you can heal this with the same poison. If there'd be flags for increases corruption and propaganda I'd probably would use them though.

You bet - some of the work has already been done. Just yesterday I added ten or eleven units you've created, so I think I owe you at least that much!

Next era specific building I'm working with is 'propaganda building for republic and democracy', which I think suits your purposes perfectly - industrial building is radio station and modern is TV station - or rather TV mast, as they seem to be an interesting sideshow in modern architecture. One for Middle Ages is a newspaper office or press. These improvements can be defined many ways since they simultaneously produce culture, information, happiness but also propaganda.

Then to another matter:

I couldn't find barley resource so made some icons for it. There's also civilopedia text in the zip.

EDIT: Updated the pack w pediaicons, d/l it from 1st post.

And this is how they turned out:

UKAS!!!!

I have been amazed, astounded and awed (and many more words beginning with 'a') by your buildings. They make for a more complete game for those of us fussy about details. Keep up the great work.

By the way, if it isn't too much trouble could you make some more ancient/middle ages buildings such as the Hippodrome/Circus Maximus, Borobodur, the complete ancient Wonders of the World and Neuschwanstein castle (Ludwig's castle in Bavaria). Just some thoughts. Whatever you do however I'm sure it will be good.

I was thinking in more positive terms actually...

absorbed, appreciative, animated, addicted, affected, an aficionado, amorous....

and seeing as we are talking about a lchohol...agape, anodyzed, aphasic and apoplectic.

I apologize for my apodictic aphorism aaglo!

Impressive use of the English langauge there Porphyrogenitos. (I'm guessing its English;) )
Try saying all that after ten pints of 'Geal'.

Aieeee!!! These big words are starting to scare me (don't tell me they're not big. Apodictic has 9 letters!), pleeze tell me there'll be simpler langauge in the future. I don't know if I'll be able to take it otherwise!

Hum, I just noticed this... have to download my own stuff from here because I effed up with some graphics. Probably was so moved by all of them a's at the first time I read your post. :D

Reasonable requests they are, Civ3 covered only 4 of 7 ancient wonders, statue of Zeus, Artemis temple and that Mausoleum were neglected. I'll start to work with them too. How do you plan to use them by the way?

I was never offended! :D I take all things in good spirit and humor, so it's almost impossible to offend, insult, or do anything of the kind to me! As for taking me seriously...well, that's a matter yet to be resoved .

Ukas: have you made civilopedia icons for the Barley resource? Large and small? well small is not that important though...

Hey, dude, could I add this one too?

I am, though, having troubles adding them in the city veiw, they show up as.... well, not your graphics. ie: The Plantation shows up as a civil defense building.

Anyways, I dunno what's wrong, couldja tell me?

I would guess you haven't put this building in the right position. What I mean, is in that order they come in the editor, the same order they must come in the buildings small and large file.

Or do you mean aerial wiev?

If that is the case, I have never tried, and will not either, don't see the point really...

but there is a thread about that in the tutorial forum:

well if it was a quintuple post they seem to have deleted the last 4, it was probably my computer was being too damn slow and I pressed submit reply like nine times and it went mad hope it doesn't happen again

P.S. this is the greatest improvement ever is there a pub, club, bar or any other drinking establishment to go with it?

I see what the problem is in that case Ris, thanx, I've fixed 1 problem then ;)

Didn't work man, I dunnno what's goin on here, because I reordered them so that it would be right, like you said.

What's happening here is this:

I set up the improvements to test, placing them with no req. of any sort and then I start up, move to the improvement on my icons are.. .wrong, Civil Defense for Plantation still, and Commercial Dock for Television Station.

Any advice, the tutorials seem to be written for original civ and not PTW.

Hmm, that's very strange, worked for me anyways... How many buildings have you added? Have you double-checked that they are absolutely in their right place? I mean, it's easy to do one mistake... I was making a mistake at last, but finally found it, and then it worked.

SKILORD
Jun 16, 2003, 02:55 PM
Adding... 4 buildings (I think; not including this, which I have yet to D/L, pending Ukas's persimmion and my own competence)

Their the bottome 1's and in the right order. I got the wonder .flc's to work (funny enough) but nothing else.....

SKILORD
Jun 17, 2003, 09:09 AM
I figured it out now ;) though i need a favor, it seems my buildings-large sheet is a little short, and I am not adept enough; or maybe Microspft Imaging isn't smart enough, to extend it, though I added several tiles, I wonder why buildings-small has more spots than large......

I'll recopy and repaste the buildings if I can get a new buildings-large.
