I play ToT quite a lot, and have heard it get very mixed reviews.
Are there any particular types of games within ToT that people go for? Personally my favourite one, is the Midgard scenario, and because of the quality of the scenario I seldom play the normal fantasy game. However I am not keen at all on the Science Fiction game as there are too many radically different elements which means I spend all the game looking in the Civlopedia or using Help.
What are other peoples favourite setups for ToT? Are you a 7civs/Sci Fi/Deity lover or a Midgard fanatic?

I download the time threat paradox scenario and play that! I think its better than the midgard scenario, and their both by Mick Uhl! I play just about everything, but i play the original the most. I like the buteo in the fantasy game, because they can fly, and move fast, over water, etc. I also play the civ in SciFi (i forgot what its called) where later on, you get this flying bee. I've never actually completed a scifi/fantasy game because i don't know what all the advances/units are, and it gets boring.

I agree with your observations about the Sci Fi game, I have never completed one either. There are too many differences and too many technologies to re-learn. What would be really usefull, is a comparison table between the original civ advances and the Sci Fi ones.
Does anyone out there have one?

They have it in the official strategy guide. It really gets you down when you see that every advance, city improvement, and wonder has an exact equivlent.

Thats a bit of a shame...(there being only equivalents!) ...it means the Sci Fi game has even less attraction for me now!
So its really only an alternate scenario like the Midgard one, but without all the cool events that happen!

Another thing is how unfair some sci/fantasy games can be. Buteo controls the sky, and can move very fast (flies), some civs don't get certain things, like non human civs in scifi don't get the wonder equivalent to oracle(?). There are some good factors, all the surprises you get when your playing the different games. My favourite is still the extended original, even though I don't choose the aliens as a civ.
