Noldodan Apr 27, 2003, 07:05 PM Let the games begin!
naervod Apr 27, 2003, 07:28 PM Wow, 6 Presidential candidates, this should be interesting.
EDIT- I almost forgot, go Chieftess!
Cyc Apr 27, 2003, 09:02 PM Gotta go with the Man. Go Shaitan.
Chieftess Apr 27, 2003, 09:09 PM  The Shaitan supporters are coming! hehe, remember donsig and the War Church of DG1?
CivGeneral Apr 27, 2003, 09:09 PM Hmm, Oct and I are feeling the Dust now :s
Goonie Apr 27, 2003, 09:16 PM Wow, Shaitan is making a real comeback.
Plexus Apr 27, 2003, 09:29 PM Yea. For a while, even I was beating him...
Octavian X Apr 28, 2003, 12:23 AM Even I know when a cause is lost. Go Shaitan!
Shaitan Apr 28, 2003, 03:26 AM Thank you for your support my friends. I hope that I can muster enough to win this position. With me in the big chair and Chieftess running Domestic our burdgeoning nation would be well served.
Paalikles Apr 28, 2003, 04:12 AM Ahem. Shaitan for Chieftain (President)
Donovan Zoi Apr 28, 2003, 05:28 AM Shaitan's early-game skills are unparalleled. Let's not waste this opportunity to employ (to be determined)'s hardest-working citizen!
Vote Shaitan
Chieftess Apr 28, 2003, 06:18 AM This is becoming an insteresting race between me and Shaitan. Remember DG1? Donsig, eyrei and I?
Bootstoots Apr 28, 2003, 06:28 AM I voted for Shaitan. I was considering voting for Chieftess and CivGeneral, but I decided that they would be better as Domestic and Military Leaders, respectively. Shaitan, on the other hand, is someone who I believe would be best suited as President.
alamo Apr 28, 2003, 01:10 PM Just look at her avatar - she's ready to settle down
:p
But seriously, there's not much voter education info, so it's a popularity contest.
Maybe we could have a platform thread for the big offices.
Edit: I now see some postings in other election threads, so why none here?
Shaitan Apr 28, 2003, 01:15 PM Welcome aboard alamo. There are debate threads in the Citizen Forum. You'll find the Presidential candidates in the Executive Debates.
Eklektikos Apr 28, 2003, 01:15 PM I take it you've seen the debate thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=51709)?
EDIT: almost fast enough, but not quite... :o
Chieftess Apr 28, 2003, 01:49 PM I think the links to the debates should be in the next election thread. :)
Shaitan Apr 28, 2003, 01:51 PM Excellent idea. A thanks goes to alamo for bringing that to our attention. So many of us have been doing this for so long that we don't see things that newer players will miss.
Kennelly Apr 28, 2003, 03:43 PM Go,Plexus,go! (as said elsewhere,I like underdogs)
Sa~Craig Apr 28, 2003, 04:50 PM Everyone one vote for Shaitan
Stuck_as_a_Mac Apr 28, 2003, 04:51 PM no, no, no! go ct! reasonable tc times! (unless Shai isnt doing Oh Dark '30's)
Strider Apr 28, 2003, 05:18 PM Yes!! Go Chieftess!!!
Vote NO to late T/C's!!!
Eklektikos Apr 28, 2003, 05:50 PM Last I heard it seems Shaitan reckons on being able to do TCs at reasonable times (by US standards). Unless I misread :mischief:
Shaitan Apr 28, 2003, 06:30 PM Quite so, EK. As the T1 chats take much less time I'll be able to do the bulk of the chats during human hours. As I've done before there will also be a couple of chats where the VP is DP.
Cpt Kaos Apr 28, 2003, 11:06 PM I voted for Chieftess.
Chieftess Apr 28, 2003, 11:09 PM Wow, I haven't been this far behind since the days of DG1 when I ran against donsig and eyrei.
EDIT: :ack: Now it's by 5!
CivGeneral Apr 28, 2003, 11:55 PM Oh No. Quickly Vote For Chieftess, There is Still Time.
(BTW, I am throwing the Towel in the Presidential Election and Focusing on the Military Elections)
FortyJ Apr 29, 2003, 12:11 AM Slightly off topic here... but does anyone recall the last time we had 48 votes in an election?
Noldodan Apr 29, 2003, 12:16 AM Not in the three months I've been here.
Vander Apr 29, 2003, 03:43 AM I don't care if I AM jumping onto a sinking ship. I voted for Octavian and his Dougnuts.
Mmmmm... Doughnuts.....
Shaitan Apr 29, 2003, 03:43 AM Wow. I went to bed with a hairsbreath lead and wake up to this! I'm smiling and I haven't even had coffee yet. ;)
Chieftess Apr 29, 2003, 05:56 AM This is just what happened to donsig right before the end of the elections in DG1. In fact, I think we had over 40 votes IN DG1.
Bootstoots Apr 29, 2003, 06:28 AM We now have 51 votes. In the last presidential election, it was more like 31 votes. This is going to cause sky-high quorums! (26 after 24 hours so far)
Chieftess Apr 29, 2003, 09:24 AM Ever notice that this is starting to look like that "Biggest Names" poll in DG2? ;) (the vote counts)
Shaitan Apr 29, 2003, 02:06 PM 53 votes. Wow.
This election is now tied for the largest participation in demogame history. The highest elections so far were:
CT vs. GreyFox vs. Octavian in DG2: 53 votes (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30912&highlight=President+Election)
CT vs. donsig in DG1: 51 votes (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28264)
Chieftess Apr 29, 2003, 02:42 PM I guess that means more advertising. And no, I won't make an announcement over the "Look to the Newbie Threads II" one. :p

Could you perhaps alter that announcement?
EDIT: Or maybe you could persuade AoA to put an announcement in the OT forum.
Shaitan Apr 29, 2003, 05:11 PM Posts regarding quorum have been moved to this thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=51991)
andrew510 Apr 29, 2003, 06:04 PM Shaitan has 42.86% of the populor vote!
go Shaitan!!!!!
Noldodan Apr 29, 2003, 06:06 PM 56 votes! RECORD!
Shaitan Apr 29, 2003, 06:37 PM And a day to go for voting...
...unless my remaining oponents would care to concede, then we can get this party started a day early. :D
Chieftess Apr 29, 2003, 10:24 PM Now, if this were DG1, we're be having another poll to narrow this thing down. :D
Octavian X Apr 29, 2003, 11:03 PM Yah, whatever DID happen to a primary? :p
(told ya we shoulda kept the CoS. ;))
Shaitan Apr 30, 2003, 03:23 AM We could have had a primary here as well. Don't think anybody thought of it (otherwise we probably would have).
Bootstoots Apr 30, 2003, 06:28 AM I thought of that, but didn't mention it. How would a primary be conducted?
Shaitan Apr 30, 2003, 06:32 AM We've never had one but most likely it would be like this:
The mods (Election Coordinator) would announce a primary ballot. It would be open for 24 hours. The top approved candidates would pass to the actual election ballot. It could be done with multi-choice or standard polling as it's an elimination, not an election.
EDIT: 58 votes and still 12 hours to go. This is phenomenal participation and will hopefully segue into a large number of players in the game. :D
Chieftess Apr 30, 2003, 08:46 AM 59!! Will it hit the magic 60? This is like baseball, watching Mark McGuire, Sammy Sosa, and Barry Bonds hit well over 60 homeruns.
EDIT:
60!!!!!!!!!!!
naervod Apr 30, 2003, 01:12 PM Cmon everyone vote Chieftess. We still have time to get 4 votes!
Eklektikos Apr 30, 2003, 01:38 PM She needs 5, unless an interminable first Presidential election is your desire ;)
Oh, and go Shaitan! :mischief:
Shaitan Apr 30, 2003, 01:39 PM She needs three or less. Preferably less. ;)
Eklektikos Apr 30, 2003, 01:39 PM Point. :p

This thing just keeps going and going and going... hmm, now where's that Energizer Bunny "smilely" I saw?
naervod Apr 30, 2003, 02:22 PM Now she needs two more votes to tie, three to win! Let's go CT!
Noldodan Apr 30, 2003, 02:41 PM An unbelievable 65 votes!!!
FortyJ Apr 30, 2003, 02:41 PM
Wouldn't it be interesting to see a run-off...? It's the top 3 right? ;)
Bootstoots Apr 30, 2003, 03:07 PM I thought it was the top 2.
CivGeneral Apr 30, 2003, 03:43 PM I bet the Judicary Members will have a fun time trying to get the Quarum straight ;).
Anyway. Go Chieftess (BTW, I mentioned that I have thrown in the towel in this Presidential Ticket :) )

Still have some fight left in 'ya, huh? ;)
The last time I saw 65+ votes was over at Apolyton during their first term or so of their first demogame!
amirsan Apr 30, 2003, 04:20 PM Whoa!!! Close Race!!!
FortyJ Apr 30, 2003, 04:23 PM I demand a recount!
After all, we've perfected the art of counting votes down here...

Yeah, it's known that if you hit the arrow key, the vote will sometimes drop down to the next line or two...
FortyJ Apr 30, 2003, 04:32 PM I swear... it was that butterfly ballot. I think that alot of these votes were actually meant for me.
Same thing's happening in the Trade Election.... it's the darndest thing I ever did see... :hmm:
Immortal Apr 30, 2003, 04:42 PM I voted for ya fourty j

GO CT!!!
Also.. If I could.... I would give you 3 of my votes ;)
Bacon King Apr 30, 2003, 05:26 PM Better make it 4 :)
Chieftess Apr 30, 2003, 06:21 PM And another vote right at the buzzer!
Shaitan Apr 30, 2003, 06:29 PM Do your stuff, Madam Election Coordinator. :)
Chieftess Apr 30, 2003, 06:56 PM Well, the polls close at 8:00, which is 24:00GMT (I think EDT is -4 GMT).
Shaitan Apr 30, 2003, 07:05 PM It's 00:50 in Greenwhich right now. It's been May there for almost an hour.
Eklektikos Apr 30, 2003, 07:37 PM GMT and the time in Greenwich are of course not actually the same at the moment... :mischief:
Shaitan Apr 30, 2003, 08:14 PM Ah, you are correct. My bad. The displayed offset on the forums is wrong. :(
Well, no damage done. The poll continued to it's natural end. :)
CivGeneral Apr 30, 2003, 08:28 PM ...And so the Time has reached to the Natural cloasing time of the Polls, one by one the Citizens of "Name Here". Cast in there last vote before the Election Officers beguins to count the Votes.
