stormerne Mar 08, 2001, 04:42 AM I'd love to, but I'm trying to be self-disciplined and not play more than two games at once and I already have two games going with Håkan. Any more than that and I couldn't give my time to all the other things I need to do, and I couldn't afford my opponent with the courtesy and respect they deserve which is to play as well as I can against them.
So much to do, so little time to do it. It's a good job that we have no TV in the house!

pretty damned swash-buckling if you ask me.http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/wink.gif. you had me scared there, for a moment. i should have pushed e5 when i had the chance. my position is still good, though. i like it. what do you think, smash? everyone?

I like my position to, but I'm not used to pushing so far forward this early (I once won a game without playing over the half-way line - fitba' metaphor), so maybe I don't know what I'm talking abouthttp://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif. Anyway I have a plan so "look sharp young man".
Smash I haven't a clue about the photo. I always think it strange that, seen singly like that, chessplayers look human; in fact you can't even tell he is a chessplayerhttp://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gifhttp://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif

Smash Mar 18, 2001, 04:42 AM Paul Keres
Algernon Pondlife Mar 18, 2001, 05:02 AM Ah. I believe I have heard him described as the best of his generation not to have become world champion. But I have to confess I have very little on him in my collection. All I could find quickly was a couple of games in Alekhine's "107 great chess battles"
And (I kept looking) this:
white: Keres black: Arlamowski
1.e4 c6
2.Nc3 d5
3.Nf3 de
4.Nxe4 Nf6
5.Qe2 Nbd7??
6.Nd6 mate
...accompanied by a warning about maintaining a sense of danger right from the start!

be that as it may, I don't think this game is over by a long way. I've found before that when I get clever it all looks good for a while then fizzles out.
Smash, I take it you mean uncrowned kings. Another site that gets my attention is http://www.bcmchess.co.uk/britbase/ which is trying to compile all games in British tournaments ever! So for example, Hastings 73 with Tal and Timman which I watched.

Algernon Pondlife May 28, 2001, 02:01 PM Thanks for the game Stellar. I'm still not sure it was all over but your position was a bit on the back foot as the English might sayhttp://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif You didn't have any more luck with their defence than I seem to. Do I gather from your comment in another place that you are giving up b6 as a system of play?
