At my high school I've received the subject of "Iraqi history" up to August 1990. And we're to make a poster about the subject.
I thought some of you might know of some decent quality pictures of artifacts, paintings of early leaders, events etc. I've searched some, but I can't seem to find anything better than the low-resolution, small-sized pictures found at news-sites.
So, does anybody know of any good images?

All the artifacts have been looted. Sorry.

Just because the Americans let them get stolen doesn't mean there aren't any decent images on the internet. There were basically 5 different ancient Iraqi civilisations, a Google search on any should bring up a nice array of pictures. They were Akkad(ia), Assyria, Babylon(ia), Mari, and Sumer(ia).
During the Middle Ages, Baghdad became the seat of the Caliphate, so there will also be thousands of pictures of it on the web. In the north, Mosul ended up conquering the world from the Mediterranean to Caspian Seas, although don't hold your breathe for images on this state.
From about 1250 onwards, Iraq was under control of various foreign powers: the Horde of the Black Sheep, the Horde of the White Sheep, Persia (1508AD) and the Ottoman Empire (17th Century).
In 1916, the Assyrians went on a mas exodus out of their ancient homelands after being attacked by the Iranians and Ottomans and tried to meet up with the Allied forces trying to make their way to Baghdad.
Next it became a kingdom under the rule of the Hashemites, the king was overthrown in the 60s I think and it has pretty much been a dictatorship ever since.
I hope that can be a start of where you can look.
