Hi, hope most of you know me. I entered during the DG2 and I ran for two positions for DG3 (BTW i lost them). Anyways, I wanted to suggest an idea I got when I was in school (and it has to be History u know). I was thinking we should make Electoral Parties. You know how there used to be The Democratic Party the Whig Party, the Republicans, well I think we should put the concept in our DG. It would make this game soo much more interesting. (BTW, they have it today in ur Democracy in America). Any citizen can start a Party but each citizen can only be in one party and may leave the party they are in at anytime. This will prevent crowding as you may think in the Citizen Forum. Some made Parties may succeed and some may fail.

The party at the end of the Term decides who they want to put in the Elections for President. (of course you can self nominate yourself if you dont get nominated in your party- (but it would be better if you do for more popular votes).

Each party will have a different spokesperson that nominates the player in the nominations thread in bhalf of thier party.

The party can make different pledges like the ones from The Brotherhood and Tech Freaks.

This can make the Demo Game much more interesting in more debating against each other.

It could be better if each party can make the thread secured so another Party cant see or get info on thier plans.

... if you agree to this idea and have more ideas in this topic then post it and I will edit it on what I have so far.

edit: Ill start the thread as soon as I get good support or until no official totally disaproves with a reason. :D

Don't like it. Political parties have caused massive problems in every demogame that they have been a part of. They cause division and petty squabbling, lack of progress and a miserable experience.

No parties.

The very nature of political parties is divisive. The demogame is about including everyone and having fun.
If we had parties then the game would transform from 'building a civ to stand the test of time' to just fighting with each other. The temptation would be just too great. Doesnt the US congress provide an excellent example of this? It is essential that everyone as his say and the argument of one person can change our direction. If we adopt a party system then this wont happen.
It is an interesting suggestion though dont get me wrong and please dont take my comments personally but I think a party system would damage the game.

I agree with Peri on this one. We have a lot of strong individuals in here, and it would end up being more politicking than playing.

My fear is that it would turn out to be something like America today, a two-party system where the leaders of the party dominate everything and the members are just there to vote for the leaders. If we have smaller multi-party systems with maybe 5-7 people in a party it might be a fun experience. So I voted Abstain depending on which type of party system.

No Political parties. Political Parties would create too mutch tension between citizens in withc causes massive Mud Slinging.
