Greeting High Sage Atrous. My name is Avalon. My primary duties for this group is to attend to the eternal flame. They call me the fire keeper.
I wish to join your group of Rouge Sages. Please enlist me in the Nacarat Order. One of my traits is Philosophical, so it appears I will be best suited in this Order.
I wish to learn more about what will be required of me. Any help you can provide will be welcome.
May 01, 2003, 10:19 PM
"You can be as commited to the Nacarat order as much as you want. Discussions will take place after we have enough sages on issues such as morality and the world around us. You can also feel free to donate to the group, though it is not mandatory."
May 01, 2003, 10:23 PM
Don't you mean Rogue? Unless they're red sages...
May 01, 2003, 10:27 PM
Aye, Rouge, red. :D
You don't think I'm that bad of a speller, do you?
May 01, 2003, 11:20 PM
Orders? We don't even have Code of Laws! We don't even have Warrior Code! Those can't be in there yet. Plus, "Paramilitary" sounds FAR too advanced for having no techs.
May 01, 2003, 11:22 PM
CivGeneral is using military terms from the 18th century... but okay.

Izcoatl will join the Nacarat group!
May 02, 2003, 02:17 AM
I would like to join this group. My interests lie in the military and silent matters.
I will immediately open a crossdivisional workshop on the arts of hidden and silent "influence taking".
May 02, 2003, 05:15 PM
Seeing as SaaM and Jenna have gone and joined the Jade Commandos, Jackie and Bob go to join the Rogue Sages
Bob: I still dont know what he is doing there.. He can barely lift an ax...
Jackie: Well, he seems to want to get stronger. Or impress Jenna.. Who knows. Lets join here. Atrous, A musician and a crazy guy..
Bob: Im not crazy! I just have visions...
Jenna: at your service
Well, Looks like Jackie and Bob are now Sages. Will this conflict with SaaM and Jenna?
May 02, 2003, 06:55 PM
Welcome to the Rouge Sages, Jackie and Bob. And no, I am not crazy...
May 02, 2003, 08:29 PM
I will join in the Nacarat group, as this group needs a theological person and here I am.
May 02, 2003, 09:34 PM
Well, we can't really complain about the Spelling, because Technically we haven't discovered the Alphabet yet. :mischief:
Samuel and Ceilia (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?postid=956535#post956535) wish to join the Rogue Sages. Samuel wishes to participate in the Haematic and Nacarat Groups, while Ceilia prefers the Nacarat Group only.
May 02, 2003, 09:53 PM
No, Rouge, as in crimson, red, maroon, nacarat, haematic, modena.

John W. Boots would like to join the Rouge Sages. He has decided that both the Nacarat and Haematic Groups appeal to him, and would like to join both of them.
May 03, 2003, 12:03 PM
Greetings, I am Nirvana Decimus and wish to join your organization. I am fond of nature and also a good strategist. I feel I would belong in the Naracat and Haematic groups. With your permission I would like to set up an institute to teach people about our natural history.
May 03, 2003, 12:11 PM
There can't be any institutions and organizations until Code of Laws, or at the least, Warrior Code.
May 03, 2003, 12:22 PM
OK, then I will wander teach people our natural history until I can get a proper school.
May 03, 2003, 05:45 PM
The "Oral Tradition" was commonplace before writing. Right now, we have the Alphabet and Warrior Code. So, you can have some sense of order, but not refined in an organizational sense. Since, that requires Code of Laws.
May 03, 2003, 05:59 PM
That's right. We're just a bunch of people who get together on a regular basis for "Philisophical Debates." People come and go as they please! We don't even have an official name yet! We don't need no stinking order!
May 03, 2003, 06:01 PM
Nope, no Philosophical Debates until Philosophy.
May 03, 2003, 06:06 PM
Alright, then we talk about what we can do to help this communtiy, and make at a better place, HAPPY?!?
May 03, 2003, 06:19 PM
Upon further inspection, it appears that we have Warrior Code.

:nono: for history you have to wait for writting, at least. For a "proper school" you'll need education, unless of course you want something like the academy in ancient Greece, for that, wait for math and writting. Natural history? until Railroad (Darwin)
May 03, 2003, 07:48 PM
We have can be orators. Thats basically it.
May 03, 2003, 08:11 PM
Actually, you CAN have history. Just use symbols. We have the Alphabet.
The first symbol is a despot, or ruler (the object represents the object that the despot is known by - a valued possession for example).
The 2nd is land, which is shown as 3 green bars. There's 3 sets of them.
The 3rd is a lake (1 line is a river).
4th is a hand = a possesion.
Translated: The ruler owns 3 pieces of land.
The 4th is a new sentence - for a commoner, or peasent. (villager)
the triangle (5th) is a promotion symbol, and the line in the middle means by 1.
Translated: The villager was promoted a rank.
(had it been a gentry, then the gentry was promoted to high gentry).
May 03, 2003, 08:49 PM
History = His story. History went all the way back to cave paintings and drawings. If someone talked about his painting to his family and friends, he was teaching them. Philosophical discussions always existed. when two cavemen got together to split roasted rabbit, and pointed to the sky when lightening struck close by, they where having a philosophical discussion. Verbal recollection of the past and things that are present or might be in the future have always been around.
First you people say you want less rules, then you slam things that others want to do claiming newly made up and bogus rules.
How do you think any form of higher government came to be before someone stood up and said "this is philosophy"? People sat down and examine the past and the present and set up a philosophical structure to suppose what might be in the future, no matter how brief that time lapse may be.
Quit making rules.
May 04, 2003, 08:37 AM
Everyone! Please look in the event thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=959015#post959015) to see if your character has died or not. 13 turns have passed in the demogame.

Anita Bath: I would love to join this worthy organization. I will join the Nacarat branch of the Rouge Sages, after the death of John W. Boots.
The High Sage falls unconsious because of the stench of Anita. He is revived quickly by herbal medicines.
May 04, 2003, 01:08 PM
Well Celia's Dead. I didn't notice that part in the rules. I guess I'll have to check on that.
May 04, 2003, 01:41 PM
Felicia ia gone.
May 04, 2003, 06:54 PM
Fellow sages, we must stand up against this new and terrible ruler, he is not the wise and caring past dictator! He is a sham, a devil.
May 04, 2003, 08:43 PM
Anita: In all due respect to your greatness, you are 29 years old. It would be impossible for you to live another chat, yet our new leader is young and strong, and he will probably survive the next one, providing he survives the power struggle. We cannot have you as our despot, maybe another leader, but not you.
May 05, 2003, 11:34 AM
Elenora Atrigo will join the challenge against the ruler... dearest Sage Atrous, greatest of the leaders, master of the world..... lead us to a new and better world!
Elenora stands up and follows Sage Atrous to challenge the dictator
May 05, 2003, 01:37 PM
Romana Decimus will take the place of her deceased mother and stand up against the ruler. We need to make this world safe to live in!
May 06, 2003, 02:24 AM
Nikos and Krisso Ginakis would like to join the Philosphical wing and help bring power to this guild.
May 06, 2003, 03:03 AM
Elenora: ALL SAGES! We must down the tyrannt and install a worthy despot! The false leaders who reached the throne through unrighteaous doings are dommed to be razed!
Support our Sage Atrous in getting dictatorship! NOW!
May 06, 2003, 03:33 AM
Briefus has been following the sages since he was young :) . He believes in their goals. He now sees Atrous in a position worthy of his deeds, but this position seems challenged by lesser men. This will not happen! I will come to the aid of Atrous and the other Sages.
Briefus runs to catch up with the new despot. "Sage Atrous, I come to defend your title as our new leader and I also wish to become a Sage. Enlist me in the Nacarat Order, and I will prove my worthiness to the others immediately :D .
Briefus goes over to Anita Bath and with one swift movement of his right hand, picks her up about 3 feet in the air and drops her in the trough they are passing, with a "splash".
"I stand at your side, Sage Atrous, and all of those who support you." Briefus joins the growing crowds as they bolster the leader's position...
May 06, 2003, 04:39 PM
Izcoatl -- I shall also stand by your side, Atrous. No one here is better sutied to guide us in this path.
May 06, 2003, 04:41 PM
Lauren and William are here to help.
May 06, 2003, 04:48 PM
I thank you all for your support, especially my beloved Elenora. I vow to secure the leadership role. For you, my people.
May 06, 2003, 04:56 PM
Lauren: Well, Atrous, I am willing to help. For the price of some power, I can help you secure the throne. I am a markswoman, with a side degree in Rhetoric. I am acurate and deadly...
Think about it
May 06, 2003, 04:58 PM
Atrous: Those whom decide to stand by my in these times will be rewarded accordingly, Lauren. Your archery skills shall be quite helpful, if you do decide to join the Rouge.
May 06, 2003, 05:14 PM
Jason: I have pledged my loyalties and services to the great Atrous. In order for my services to be of greater use I would like to join in this organization in the Haematic Group.
May 06, 2003, 05:14 PM
Izcoatl- For the price of some power?!? the Rouges do not lust power for power's sake! Think long and hard before you use the Rouges for your own twisted ends Lauren, the name of our brotherhood shall not wilt and die before it has even bloomed just for a crazy man's power hunger.
May 06, 2003, 05:23 PM
Lauren: I am with no side other then myself. I'm just a wandering orator/killer. Hey... Who knows? Mabey I can get a job in the senate :P ?
William: For the love of god! Help me!
May 06, 2003, 05:25 PM
Atrous: Then the Rouge is no place for you, young archer.
May 06, 2003, 05:31 PM
Lauren: Ah yes, but what I have in my skills as a markswoman, I equal in my skills as an orator. Stories, tales, voyages, journeys. You want 'em, you got'em. All up here.. waiting on my command. And I believe that THAT is a skill the Rouge enjoys
May 06, 2003, 05:34 PM
Atrous: But your devotion to only yourself shows that you are either unwilling or incapable of holding up our ideals.
May 06, 2003, 06:36 PM
Romana: I am afraid I must agree with Atrous, Lauren. We should try and find a solution beneficial to all.
May 06, 2003, 09:19 PM
Esther: Lord Atrous, I assume that you may not live another turn chat, so you should probably pick your successor to the throne immediately.
May 07, 2003, 01:06 AM
Izcoatl- The Rouges have spoken Lauren, leave this sacred place before you are forced out.
May 07, 2003, 07:34 PM
OOC: Uh, Plexus, John W. Boots has been dead for about 500 years (civ time).
May 07, 2003, 07:38 PM
OOC: While your updating the main post, Jason was accepted right?
May 08, 2003, 06:38 PM
Upon hearing the news of the title Baron being granted to his name by the Sage Atrous (from his ever-vigilant wife, if you hadn't guessed...), Briefus cups Katra's face in his hands, moves back her hair, and places a gentle kiss on her lips. Then..."Gotta go, thanks for the news, sunshine, catcha later." :D
Briefus Lifespanius enters the chambers of Sage Atrous solemly, and approaches the Despot. Stopping some 3 strides before before him, Briefus kneels and bows his head. Placing both hands on his raised knee, he speaks.
" Sage Atrous, I accept the duties you have bestowed upon me. I will bend my will to yours in hopes of serving you better. It must conform to the whim and wishes of you, my liege, who would be my new master. I will not put words in your mouth. I beg thee speak and act the truth as you know it, and if you are guided by my understanding of the truth I am glad. If you will share and teach your truth I am gladder still. I pledge alliegance."
"Ah, Sage Briefus, thank you" says Atrous. "I guess you've heard the news of being granted the title of Baron. You've done very well for yourself in the short term I've known you. I trust the welfare of my children to you and your beautiful wife, Katra. Their future lies in your hands, as well as those of their new teacher, Izcoatl. I will also seek recommendations from you when called for, please be available. Give my best to your wife..."
Baron Briefus looks up at his Leader, "Thank you, Sage Atrous." He then rises and turn to leave. What a great day, he thinks to himself, plans must be made.
May 09, 2003, 02:03 AM
Izcoatl stands from his seat in the chamber of Sages and adresess Briefus:
Izcoatl-- I shall gladly guide your children in the ways of the Rouge. If I live that long, that is :)
May 09, 2003, 03:45 PM
Joe II wishes to join the Haematic Group or the Modena Group or even both
May 09, 2003, 03:48 PM
Walter and Brian aproach the Rouge Sages
Brian: While our mother may be anarchistic, we are simple, good men of knowledge and the foot.
Walter: Yes. We wish to undo any wrongs the DiSaaMuel name may have done to this fine instituion and join its ranks... And woo your daugher...
Brian: Hey! I was gonna say that! No fair!
Walter: Uh uh
Brian: Uh hu
And it goes on like that...
Brian: Fine. We shall both woo her. Here are the rules: Soliloquies are okay, no fake suicides, no donning the role of another person to get closer to her. Also- No killing eachother!
May 09, 2003, 03:51 PM
Esther: I will join the Haematic branch of the Sages.
John the II: I will join the Nacarat branch.
May 11, 2003, 02:07 PM
The day had come. The marraige between Diutus Lifespanius and Helena d'Atrou had been arranged.
Diutius led the grand procession to the door of Atrous to receive his bride. Flower petals lie at the feet of citizens from all castes as the lined the streets and filled the plaza to watch the ceremony.
All had gone well and after the agreements were stamped, Diutius displayed the ring. Everyone had expected a ring of intricately woven hemp, but knowing the wisemen of Fanatica, Diutius kept up with modern technology. This was a ring of bronze, the first ever to be used in a marraige ceremony. In it were carved the letters representing the words of "sempiterna amor". All eyes were on the ring.
Diutius looked at Helena and with a humble voice says "Without beginning, without end..."
The crowds erupted with a cheer that was heard for miles. The ceremony had ended and it was time for the feast. Sage Atrous gave his blessing and transferred authority of Helena to Diutius. Briefus and Katra look on with pride. Helena looks to the skies in search of her mothers eyes. All is well in Noshuret.
Diutius and Helena are wisked away by the royal guards in the guise of the procession. Most of the royal family has left the feast for private gatherings, leaving the feast to the citizens.
May 11, 2003, 02:09 PM
Mozl Tov, Helen and Diutius. From the entire DiSaaMuel family
May 11, 2003, 03:10 PM
A woman makes her way into the Rouges Inner Sanctum, demanding to see the head of the council.
Freya-- I am Freya and I come with this She takes her arm out of the heavy skins that clothe her and streches it out for all to see, a necklace of stone and bones dangles from her hand, exactly like the one belonging to Izcoatl I found your Rouge in the wild, he was old and tired... he has passed. Before his death he burdened my life with a mission, to come here, to you and join your council, to continue the work he had begun. He and I are one now... I am Freya Izcoatl and I have come for my rightfull place along side the Rouges!
May 12, 2003, 12:12 AM
The day after the wedding (and what a glorious night is was...) Diutius and Helena send a huge bouquet to the DiSaaMuel family, thanking them for their kindness.
Diutius then again seeks an audiance with Sage Atrous. "I come to you now with all due respect as the father of my bride, chief council of the Rouge Sage, and Despot of Fanatika. As you well know, Helena and I will be moving to Gorina, the great city to the Southwest, in which we as a couple share future holdings. I am here to seek your approval of my proclamation as Proconsul of Gorina. We wish to govern the city in your name, to help bring your rule to new lands. To place your doctrine on the new Settler groups that will leave Gorina for the creation of new cities, yet unkown. Please, Sage Atrous, allow me to be your Proconsul in Gorina. I will serve you well.
Also, even though I have felt as an honorary member all my life, I wish to join the ranks of the Nacarat Order in the Rouge Sage. I would be honored to have this Order of Sages represented in the government of Gorina, again in your name. That is all, my liege. I seek your favor in these two areas. Please take your time as I shall await your response." He then rises, bows slightly and leaves. On his way out, he nods at his father, who smiles back.
May 12, 2003, 12:47 AM
Atrous: I'll do you one better. You shall be known as the Prince of Gorina, and you shall rule in my name.
May 12, 2003, 02:08 AM
I would like to be a rouge as well. Even tough I usually dont join groups it would be nice to talk to other people with the same interests... It would also be nice to teach others in my skills of the nature...
May 12, 2003, 02:24 AM
Hearing this, Diutius stops dead in his tracks. A smile upon his face. With a military "about-face", he spins on his heel and marches right back to the Despot's throne.
"May the Gods be with you, Sage Atrous. I am to be the second Prince of Fanatica. I am honored, nay...overwhelmed by delight. Your wishes for Gorina will come to fruition by all the powers vested in me. Again, thank you.
I must go now, for I am to arrange for a statue made of bronze to be made of your image. We will take it to Gorina with us, and place it before our Palace, so that each day we will be reminded of your glory."
Again, Diutius turns and heads for the door. What a WEEK this has been.
May 12, 2003, 01:23 PM
Lauren returns home from a busy day hunting and speaking. She takes off her moccasins and is delighted to see a large boquet of flowers from Helena and Diutius. She is glad that the odd language which seems to have been conved to her through the trees has brought sunshine to the hearts of the newlyweds. She is also glad that she dosent have to wear this friggin Tiara unless she is at any and all court functions. She goes to the next hut over to see her sons and their children and considers herself lucky to have lived so long. With that, she takes Kate with her and begins teaching her how to maniplulate men and speak with a proper Roman accent.
(OCC- I know this had nothing to do with anything, but it hadnt been since 2AM EST that there had been a post here)
May 13, 2003, 12:33 AM
Briefus enters the chambers of Sage Atrous and asks to speak with him privately.
"Sage Atrous, I have troubling news. It seems we may have opposing forces on the far SW horizon, beyond the mountains. These forces are lead by an enemy that Fanatica has seen before, an enemy which may only be known to you."
Sage Atrous is very elderly, yet remains competant. He sits up in his throne and thinks a moment, a finger held against his chin. "Hmmm, only known to me you say...it must be a very old aquaintance."
Briefus moves closer to the Despot. "I have just received word from my son, Prince Diutius, that some of his men have been approached while stationed in Gorina. The message says these agents of the enemy say that an attack is eminent and that his men were asks to aboandon their oaths to you and join forces with the enemy. These agents are looking for traitors, who will swear loyalty to our foes." Briefus checks the room visually... "We must send covert agents into the Gorina lands to weed out these solicitors of evil. We must also do that here in Noshuret. We must also put together strong armies of Warriors, Archers, and Spearmen to send to Gorina to stop the attack before it reaches the Capital."
Sage Atrous grows impatient. Yes, yes, yes. I agree, contact Gontskius Maximillian II. He's Leader of the Jade Commandos. He will muster our forces, and our land owners must raise troops also....but tell me now, who is this enemy?
Briefus moves closer still, "The message says it is none other than Nero Viviano, cousin of the previos Despot, Markus Viviano. I fear only you know him well enough to anticipate his moves. Word has it he is still in command of his facilities but is over-come by his hatred of our Empire because his did not fare as well. I've heard tales of when his father broke away from the rest of our tribe and swore to start his own Empire. Obviously his plans did not come to fruition.
I realize you are tired my liege, and do not want a war. But it will be coming our way soon. We need you to tell us about him and use your wisdom to foresee his motives and military plans. We need you to grant us armies, so that we may defend your honor. The people await you Sage Atrous.
May 13, 2003, 09:56 AM
Once again, Briefus approaches Sage Atrous.
"Sage Atrous, I come to you now as student and friend, as a servant and comrade, as a peer and as family. You have ruled this land mercifully, and with vision. You have listened as well as you have spoken. Your people support you and adore you. I am proud to be one of your citizens.
We both grow old now.Our days are soon to pass. I come to you now, for the first time, to ask for land. I see that you have given Diutius and Helena the 12 lots of land in and around Gorina. I ask that you grant me the rights to the three hills that separate their lands and Noshuret. In my last remaining days, I shall raise troops to combat Nero Viviano. After I pass, I would like to leave control of the hills to Marcus, my second son. This will not only solidify their place in History, but also help to bring them together as they would own lands adjacent to one another. Grant me these rights, Sage Atrous, and you shall have both Diutius and Marcus fighting for you against the Viviano clan. I too, will join the battle" says Briefus as he lowers his head.
May 13, 2003, 04:43 PM
Atrous: Good Sir Briefus, I will grant your son these lands. We will not be overcome by a few warriors from a distant city.
May 14, 2003, 12:47 AM
I guess it does get confusing, doesn't it?
Character: Briefus Lifespanius
"Many thanks, Atrous." He hands the Despot a goblet of wine and lifts his own. "A toast to you, and your reign over the people of Fanatica."
May 14, 2003, 12:49 AM
May 15, 2003, 03:58 AM
As I have been a member of the Rouge Sage for so many years, this seems like a second home. Therfore this seems to be the appropriate place to announce this happy occasion.
There is to be a double wedding for my twins, Marcus and Mellita.
Marcus will be marrying Ribeena, daughter of Maximillian Gontskius II. Mellita will be marrying Walter, son of Lauren.
The wedding will be held immediately, so as to get on with the conflict. May they all be happy...
May 16, 2003, 08:54 AM
Gontskius Maximillian II and his daughter Ribeena hurried into the bustling city of Noshuret, along with Katie, who wanted to see her brother's wedding. Arrangements were made, preparations were done, and the logistics of the Double Wedding started to come together.
All of the Sages from all of the different Orders were in attendance. Any Nobles still in town were sure to be there. It was a great event, even if it was in the shadow of the threat of a barbarian attack. Briefus Lifespanius and his wife Katra were brought in to the ceremony, although their state of mind since Atrous had passed on was one of non-involvement.
The ceremony went as planned, without a hitch. Brass rings were now commonplace among the Nobility, and were handed (pun intended) out appropriately. Flowers were strewn everywhere as Mellita along with her new husband Walter Roberts, and Marcus along with his new bride Ribeena strode off to the customary gathering after a wedding. A small feast was held for those who attended.
The next day, Katie and Gontskius Maximillian II left for Gorina. The newlyweds took a brief vacation.
