It is generaly held that Cleopatra wasn't a beautiful woman (definately not the sex goddess we see her as on TV). There are many depictions of her (Egyptian and Greek). Some are flattering but most are not. The majority actually look like the ones posted below. She has a fairly large nose (Asterix comics had a field day with this one) and an almost inbred looking face (the saggy eyes). Her 'beauty', if we can call it that, lay in her other atributes, namely her country's wealth (grain, gold and trade routes) and the strategic importance of it (Parthian neighbours).

The beauty cult emerged much later during the Renaissance and Romanticist movements. Anyway, make your own mind up about it:
