i'd like to see someone do some Elvish city graphics. I think they would be very usefull for any fantasy mod. I hope someone will consider it.

May 17, 2003, 05:07 PM Trees really. mrtn May 17, 2003, 07:39 PM A nice happy forest with squirrels, or a more sinister Mirkwood type forest? This is the elven cities from ToT, and my edited darkelf version of them. http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads4/Elven_cities.jpg Raw is War? May 18, 2003, 08:36 AM They look good. :goodjob: I think i would prefer a migical sort of place, like Lothlorien for example. mrtn May 18, 2003, 06:45 PM Originally posted by Raw is War? At least the way I read the book it's not as it is depicted in the film. GIDustin May 18, 2003, 11:43 PM I could also use a set of elven like cities, something with lotsa trees. Something that will blend in well in forests. GIDustin Raw is War? May 19, 2003, 11:20 AM I agree GIDustin, sumat magical that blends well into the forest. mrtn May 19, 2003, 02:10 PM I'm thinking about doing this. It depends on what sorts of pics I find, I wont start from scratch, just mod existing things. So if anyone have any Forest-in-civ-view-pics (from above), please post them. :) PCHighway May 19, 2003, 04:12 PM Well, In Morrowind, there are some interesting graphics for buildings to go in cities. This isn't to good of an example, because the size refrains me. If you are interested, I could e-mail you better examples. http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads4/Teltower2.jpg mrtn May 19, 2003, 05:31 PM PCH, check your pm's. Edit: embryodead wrote in the LotR thread that he would post some elven cities (and elven units:)), so I propose we wait a few minutes for those. Edit2: That's it. I started anyway. :) Celeborn May 19, 2003, 10:20 PM hmmm... trees... mrtn May 20, 2003, 07:01 PM I started to mod some of the graphics I got from PCHighway. I have a forest as background, shall I keep it, or will it be too hard to see the city then? And PCH, can you send me some more graphics? :D PCHighway May 20, 2003, 07:26 PM That looks great! But it is a little hard to see anything. Maybe if used someone elses forest? Such as Womoks ;). (I know I keep bringin him up). I'll get some more, which one do you want them to look like? So I know what type your looking for? -Actually, now that I look I think that is the perfect backdrop, maybe if you put a pathway in there? mrtn May 20, 2003, 07:48 PM  Do you want the forest or not? You're confusing. It doesn't really matter which it looks like, they're all very similar, and I shrink it quite hard. mrtn May 20, 2003, 08:01 PM I might add a pathway, but I need to know how the city looks first. This is all 4 houses added. So I'd probably want 4-6 more. I have no idea how hard they are to obtain though. And I'll only do one era, I'm not suicidal. :crazyeye: Warning: ugly jpg , the cities will be nicer. :) GIDustin May 20, 2003, 08:01 PM I actually think that looks good. You should post that so we have something to use until we get a new version (if there will be a new version) :D GIDustin PCHighway May 20, 2003, 08:05 PM Ok, no problem. That was an edit btw ;), I like the forest backdrop, with more buildings it looks hard to add a path and unnecessary. I'll get the houses soon, is tomorrow ok (I should really work on Krytens cities). mrtn May 20, 2003, 08:22 PM I actually think that looks good. You should post that so we have something to use until we get a new version (if there will be a new version) This is still a photoshop file. Half the work (or a bit of it, at least) is in converting it into a civ-friendly format. And it's only one city of three. So you'll have to bite your nails a little while yet. I'll get the houses soon, is tomorrow ok (I should really work on Krytens cities). Are you afraid I'll sue you? This is a hobby, bud. PCHighway May 20, 2003, 08:29 PM mrtn- Are you afraid I'll sue you? This is a hobby, bud. Damn! How did you guess my intention? Whats that? Oh you said you'll sue me, never mind then ;). Ok, I'll get them tomorrow, it is 8:12pm US central time, here (http://www.worldtimeserver.com/) is a time converter, I’m sure you will be going crazy with anticipation . mrtn Jun 02, 2003, 06:50 PM ...to raise your threads from the dead. :D So, whaddaya think about these cities then? GIDustin Jun 02, 2003, 06:59 PM I like 'em. GIDustin PCHighway Jun 02, 2003, 07:17 PM I like it to :goodjob:. When can we download, did you check it out in game? The house on the near left in the last city looks rather large, although this might be because I know what it looks like normally, it probably won't catch anyone else’s eye :). mrtn Jun 02, 2003, 07:39 PM Originally posted by PCHighway I like it to :goodjob:. Checking it in-game will be the last thing I do, I still have all the layers separate. Do you like that house better now? PCHighway Jun 02, 2003, 07:51 PM I like it better this way, but as I said no one would notice (and might like it better the other way) It looks great, keep it up :goodjob:! Couldn't you just hit 'merge visible' and save it as a different file? Im anxious to get my hands on this one :D. mrtn Jun 02, 2003, 07:54 PM I need ideas for the city walls. A log pallisade? mrtn Jun 02, 2003, 08:24 PM http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads4/elven_city_ingame.jpg PCHighway Jun 02, 2003, 09:16 PM Thanks :goodjob:! I like them a lot, we should definitely use them for the LotR mod we're working on, don't you think? Walls... Hmm I don't know, I can't think of where you could get log walls, unless your thinking of the palisade-type walls on the rAMER files. That would be good, IMO. mrtn Jun 02, 2003, 09:26 PM rAMER? I'd never! That'd be stealing! ;) I'll head over to the graphics forum now. :D This screenshot show 'em without forest in front of the cities. http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads4/elven_city_ingame2.jpg |
