I was just wondering how exactly you can play by email sound like it would take way longer than resonable.

Takes forever.

The MSDG (multisite demogame-- a game of 7 fanites and firaxes making 8 teams of players) plays faster than most 3+ person PBEM games and it usually does about 1 full turn every 2-3 days.
