Starting from a fresh install of Civ III, game of the year edition and Play The World, should I install the latest Civ III patch AND the latest PTW patch, or do I only need the PTW patch?

I believe just the PTW patch - PTW is supposed to include v1.29 for civ3, IIRC. To check this, start Civ3. Look in the bottom LH corner of the initial menu screen. If it says 1.29f you're good to go; if it says something else (1.01, etc) then you need the basic civ patch too. But you shouldn't.

PS Someone who knows may wish to answer. My civ3 was patched anyway when I got PTW, so I'm not certain.

You are absolutely right MadScot - PtW automatically patches the standard Civ3 to 1.29f. :)

i downloaded the last patch for civ III and installed it OK. Now my problem is that civ III ask for the CD ROM to run and i have not. Before installing the patch there were no problem. What can i do?
