I have been practicing diety starts with spain when I ran across this start.

Something tells me GOTM20 won't be this luxurious :eek:

If anyone actually wants to try this as well, the settings are all random on a standard map with 5 opponents (two less than max):

Things aren't always what they seem, although it does look very nice.

I got the following, not quite so nice, start. Then a few turns later I found I was on a stupid island, with mountains along most of the coast, and not much more grasslands than you can see here.

Those mountains in your screenshot, and the coast to the south, makes me shudder. It would be just like the RNG to give a beautiful start in an impossible location. (Just like all those one tile mountains with schools of fish and dolphins around them!)

Unless my name is Aeson, I don't think I would last long on that type of map.

So far I have discovered that being on an island with only one other civ is very hard :(

The AI charges astronomical amounts for each tech and there are no twofers.

Fortunately, we are playing Spain and not Australia or New Zealand :crazyeye:

Just to add to it. You are near the centre of the map, so that means --> SWAMP. And Judging from the surronding terrian, it is just north of your land. Now, where's the second city going to be?

It could be a northern or southern hemisphere map ....well, with the desert probably not.

Just nevermind......

BTW, I made another practice run with the Spainards tonight and botched it again. :(

Not only that, the worker will have his right hand tied on his back and the settler will lose its backpack on turn#1 and spend the next seven searching for it in the snow...
